  1. And the other thing is that TLG have just so many options to choose from when it comes to Marvel. The Infinity Saga alone consists of 23 films, most of which were well received and are still popular. Sure, phases 4 and 5 aren’t doing quite as well to say the least, but still, new movies continue to get sets for the most part and even the shows have some representation. So they won‘t run out of material and popular characters anytime soon DC on the other hand has just concluded a failed cinematic universe and no popular shows are airing. So it shouldn‘t come as a surprise that the theme is in the position it‘s in, at least as long as there‘s nothing to spark general audiences‘ interest, which the DCU will hopefully achieve. Also, I can‘t take anyone seriously who unironically uses the word „woke“ Come on.
  2. Not this nonsense again There’s no stupid conspiracy, Marvel gets more sets because it sells better, simple as that. The only chance DC has to be on par with Marvel again is the DCU. If it does well and reignites public interest (especially among kids), the DC theme will return to its former self. If it doesn’t, look forward to more Batmobiles and Jonklers
  3. Gonna be honest, the official set looks wayyyyyyyy better in my opinion This looks too plain to me. I don’t think you can compare that. With adaptations, breaking canon is way more likely and sometimes even necessary since adaptations have to change things around to fit the medium, for example the time compression in RoP. Even the Jackson trilogies did that: The elves appearing in Helm’s Deep contradicts the book lore, but they simply applied the rule of cool here. The battle at Dol Guldur didn’t happen in the books (as Galadriel destroyed the fortress without assistance I think) but it was an awesome scene in Bot5A. What bothers me more in RoP are the plotholes that have nothing to do with the lore, especially one of the biggest ones I’ve ever seen in any medium: how come Galadriel just happens to find Sauron in the middle of the bloody ocean?! And don’t tell me it was fate. As for SW, there are no adaptations and it’s all in the same continuity (except for Legends), so something only breaks canon if it’s in direct contradiction with the other movies/shows without any wiggleroom, and there’s A LOT of that (see Leia remembering her mother, Obi-Wan’s lie, Clones becomes Stormies, etc). Not sure what specifically you’re referring to here, as so far, nothing like that has happened as far as I’m aware. Lucas himself likely was the biggest offender when it comes to retcons
  4. Since the set has the same price as the R2 released in March, you can luckily build all four droids at once, and they’re all astromechs, I suppose each is roughly a fourth of that R2’s size Sounds pretty adorable to me! What bothers me a bit is the description of L0-LA. It’s said to be a printed dish, which seems a bit too large. I would’ve preferred a printed 1x1 round tile
  5. Thanks to @Brick Clicker, we finally know what the “buildable creature” is: a collection of buildable astromechs, namely Artoo, Chopper, R2-KT, and R2-K5 (probably a misspelled R4-K5) They’re customisable with sunglasses and other accessories As predicted, the included Leia minifig comes with L0-LA …but where’s my boy BB-8?!
  6. Still weird. If that's the case, then why does the Balrog look identical to how it did in FOTR and TT? While I don't hate RoP, they made some major blunders in S1, and there are already two things in the trailer for S2 that don't make much sense. How come Barad-dûr is already under construction when in the lore it required the power of the One Ring to do so? Even the LEGO set got that right, as it's mentioned in the instruction booklet! Unless this scene takes place after Sauron has crafted it, but I doubt that's gonna happen this season since the remaining 16 rings have to be done first (and they already botched the order) How come the elves don't see through Sauron's elven disguise (Annatar, if they have the rights to call him that), when he's apparently also played by Charlie Vickers? Are the elves stupid? Or is that just for the sake of the audience and the elves see something else in-universe? A third issue may be Tom Bombadil, but at least he fits better here than he would've in the Jackson films. Excluding him in FOTR was the right choice in my opinion since he completely breaks the momentum of the plot and undermines the urgency of the mission by being immune to the One Ring. In this story, at least he won't do anything like that! Other than that, I'm cautiously optimistic, but the show will never be on the same level as the two Jackson trilogies to me.
  7. While I'd like to see a Thor-themed D2C set, I'm not sure how they'd turn Asgard into a LEGO set. It's essentially a giant city! So unless it's microscale or they work with some forced-perspective techniques, they have to focus on a few selected locations (like the Bifröst and the palace) Either way, the Warriors Three, Sif, Odin, and Heimdall would all be cool minifigs to have
  8. 'Not at all' would be my guess. We have yet to see a single set based on a streaming show outside of the Star Wars and Marvel Disney+ offerings and a small handful of Netflix ones, so I'm not sure why everyone is so certain that this HBO Max (sorry, MAX) show will get sets Continuing with movie-based sets would be a less risky move for TLG. Fans will continue to buy them, and even new fans that purely get interested in HP thanks to the show (which I doubt will be that numerous) likely won't mind that the sets are based on the movies instead. They depict the exact same events anyway. On the other hand, switching to show-based sets would likely alienate a sizable portion of movie fans. Reboots of beloved franchises don't tend to be super popular, and that's usually reflected in merch sales.
  9. Too bad the instructions don’t seem to show the other sets as Solid Brix pinky swears he hasn’t seen them Would’ve been too easy!
  10. Maybe Netflix try to trick people into thinking they‘re new movies? At least he had the common sense to still call the Snydercut „Justice League“, without a misleading subtitle. That seems to have completely gone out the window now The silver lining is that Rebel Moon’s reception has been lukewarm at best, so maybe even his fans (or rather cultists?) will finally move on
  11. Solid Brix Studios surprisingly has a review of the ISD on his channel! So weird to already have a review of an August set when the rest of the wave hasn‘t been revealed or even leaked yet
  12. Dinos, vehicles, bits of landscape, and dino fodde… I mean minifigs The cast allegedly consists of Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, and more Sounds good so far!
  13. Good thinking!! This would fit nicely with all the info we have It‘d just be a bit weird to have a set dedicated to what is essentially a torture droid, especially with Young Leia being included, i.e., its future most prominent victim
  14. FTFY Yeah, I wouldn‘t get my hopes up. While the buildable creature rumour is somewhat fishy, we have no evidence to discard it, so the hint likely refers to something else. @Renown only gives us real hints Also, didn‘t he already deny being caught?
  15. Doctor Fate. I‘m still miffed about that false rumour
  16. The first iteration in 2018 had two sets in its first year, the second one had four (two of which were purely interiors), and so does the current one (with one interior section). That‘s not a bad start I‘d say!
  17. We gave up it seems After the Tarkin theory got shot down in the wake of the ISD reveal, the topic was dropped and never really picked up again. I‘m still curious too, because it doesn‘t really fit in with anything that we currently know. Maybe it relates to one of the unknown figures in the RTG sets?
  18. It‘s only one movie, luckily Making a feature-length movie about Gollum set in-between The Hobbit and FOTR is hard enough as it is, let alone more! I‘d rather they do anything else, but this is what we‘ll be served Serkis being involved both behind and in front of the camera is the only thing it has going for it in my opinion, apart from tie-in sets maybe!
  19. Maybe never, since we‘re getting closer and closer to the official reveal Also, Enoch is first in line Pictures of that minifig must be floating around somewhere
  20. Soundwave sounds like a good candidate for a Decepticon set since he can double as a buildable object à la the recently released retro radio And an ejectable minion would be a fun play feature! Sounds more up TLG‘s alley compared to a fighter jet or a tank (Cybertronian or not)
  21. I‘m wondering how many versions of Batsy can theoretically be built with one copy of the 8-in-1 Brickheadz set, ignoring the grey SNOT bricks, the parts used for the base, and the 2x2 brain brick It just seems wasteful to buy 8 sets, given the large number of extra parts. Since the colour scheme is pretty different for some of the versions, I suppose it‘d be possible to build all 8 with only 4-5 copies of the set plus some additional parts
  22. From what we know, they don‘t, and I don‘t blame them for not wanting to pay an additonal fee for characters they can already make sets for, albeit different versions Spider-Verse and Raimi trilogy sets would be awesome, no doubt, but Sony would definitely crave a share of that pie
  23. In my eyes, keeping the D2C and regular sets independent from each other is a good idea though. The (usually) longer availability of D2C sets combined with the higher price segments and their exclusivity do not gel too well with normal playsets Besides, we have so many castle sections already. I‘m glad they‘re trying different things with the D2C sets
  24. Quite a broad range of potential figures! I‘d love if we got all of them, but that‘s not exactly likely
  25. I like the model a lot! The bee tile behind the windscreen is a really cute addition too
