[REVIEW] 42066 Air Race Jet
J_C replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
IMO: functionality and accuracy rating is too high. missing flight controls (apart from super simple rudders). That is like car without steering. Disproportional wings. Missing tail-wings (since these vertical rudders cannot substitute elevators, way too vertical to be elevons). Otherwise nice review. Thank you. -
Beautiful!

[MOC] Tatra T2-603
J_C replied to HorcikDesigns's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is rich history of passenger cars made by Tatra since 1897. They produced luxury car, famous streamliners (started in 30s) (T77, T97, T600), also affordable cars (like T11). Actually truck were not the main production for long time. -

Or the boxes for Trade fairs are not the same as for the shops. Back side might be easily just black. -
As typical late adopter and someone who is not willing to pay nowhere near RRP I found "my" price and got one. It is terrific set, selection of parts is so wide, it will be great and great for C-models (most of the time my main criterium for Technic purchase decision ), build is interesting, lots of clever solutions, and it looks magnificient and all the functions work fine and smoothly. I disagree strongly with the mostlypresent sentiment about the crane. I think it is cleverly designed crane. Especially considering it is "just" an attachement not the main model (the tractor is). Well, anyway, if you do not have one, get it. Simple as that.

Dog and cat owner here. Simple. Actually super simple. I do not leave LEGO bricks laying around. When building, it is not a big task to keep the cat away (or to know what is she up to), when not building, bricks are in the boxes/drawers. Same policy I teach my kids.

It is not that simple. TLG knows about it. Same as car manufacturers know about their parts being copied, same as Disney knows about unlicensed toys, movies etc. Law is one thing, but enforcing anything in this field in China is completely different matter. Even for big global rich companies with army of lawyers.

I agree 100%. If it would be possible to agree more than 100% , I would. -

that is also nice and useful, but I would not dismiss simple "wow, that is nice etc". It is nice feedback for whom decide to publish something and it is better than no reaction. It is nice (IMO) to leave even such banal reply like "wow, that is nice". Not everything has to be constructive criticism or conversation enhancing questions. -

Lets be honest, "wow, awesome" is what you wanna read in your topic, isn't? I do. -

I was also sort of let (or maybe I was expecting too much) down by H2 sets for 2017 (although I really like the fire truck, with note, that I was hoping for different kind of firetruck with telescopic ladder - as I said before "red pneumatic 42009"), and neither 42069 nor 42070 are according my taste, but declining whole season as "bad" or so, is unfair to LEGO. Especially when nobody has even seen properly H2 2017 sets yet. They can't cater for everyone all the time (I personally do not care much about cars - but most of you do) but there is variety like never before (from recent years, from top of my head, includes mining machines, agriculture machines, trucks, planes, ship, construction machines, racing cars, cranes, anything you can think of (maybe railroad stuff is missing). "40y merge" car is offered for free (correct me if I am wrong) - what was the last time you got something for free (why should you)? Isn't that kind of generous? (hint: it is) Prices are steep (IMO) and trend is rising (IMO), but with little bit of patience, one can usually find good deal later. Plus profit is not a dirty word. -

As far as I understand LEGO will be offering "merge" car as an instructions download for FREE, not as standalone set/box of parts. -

well, that is crazy wild theory (I like those) -
I am really glad that coast guard helicopter has its "face" built from bricks not from one big one-purpose part. (unlike the recent city planes). Someone at Lego remembered again that it is what is LEGO all about. building stuff from simple parts.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion

my thoughts: 42070 - I want normal blue (just like 42042), I would be happier if Lego existed in 8 colours and "any" bricks and part can be found in each of them. I do not need 5 or 7 kind of blue, 4 kinds of brown etc. Same applies to system bricks. I might be alone who think this but: "it is too big!" Too large for kids, too large for shelf, it will occupy half of the table. It is too big! (I live in a huge house, with lots of rooms and big rooms, but still, it is too big). front lights look ugly. It looks (judging by the videos) hollow. and if that price is real, I am not willing to pay it. I make money, but can pay it, but I just will not. That is too much. 42069 - I do not want that. No appeal. regardless the price, functions, colours, I would not want to build that, nor have that. "Just ignore it" kind of thing. If someone asks me what I think about it, the answer would have to be: "nothing". no emotion, no like, no nothing. Firetruck - I like that one. but...same as with ship (which should have been fishing trawler with reel, arm, ropes, reels etc. and is Boaty McFloatface with cute styling but few functions) this should have been inspired (instead of airport firetruck) by this: Kind of pneumatic red 42009 Well, I am still missing some sets from recent years that I want, I did not get yet, so this is chance to catch up. BTW: star of the show is LEGO City Bus stop for me. so the best one for me is mid-size city set. well....whatever. At least something
