  1. Wow. Thank you. It is such a honour to read this. Thank you. My pleasure. (I love 42042 set. My all time favourite, if I had to chose one set to take with me to desert island, it would be 42042. I design 3rd C-model now, not sure when will be done.)
  2. I really like it. I like that you rather designed complex gearbox, than using more motors. You chose harder (better) way to the goal. It is cleaner, better and more challenging design approach. Big clap for that. I personally prefer 42042 design philosophy over e.g. 42030 design philosophy.
  3. Hi, please what is the correct syntax for changing PLI scale (local) not global? I need to change the scale of PLI in several steps, not everywhere. I cannot get it right. Any advice is very appreciated. Thanks in advance. edit 5h later: and the correct answer is: 0 !LPUB PLI MODEL_SCALE LOCAL 0.5000 where last number on the line is to be adjusted according to your wish. (might be usefull for somebody - it is for me)
  4. Sit down with him, design something completely new together from scratch, the most logical next step. Simple as that. Otherwise, if you want to stick with building according to instructions, there are heaps of good instructions on rebrickable, mocpages etc.
  5. IMO 42025 is great set. it has double motorized functions compare to jet. 42025 has, apart from rudder, complete flight controls. This has only rudders. all other flight controls are omitted.
  6. super funny! choice of music is brilliant, vader's heavy breathing gets completely different context. also technically brilliant.
  7. Thanks. I am glad my C-models are appreciated. I only wished I would have more time for them. Forklift instructions takes me forever (it seems) to finish, meanwhile I work on one more 42042 C-model. And I work on C-model for 42025 (which I got as total surprise gift month ago - I considered 42025 totally sold out - apart from crazy prices from "investor sellers") Sorry Sariel, for offtopic.
  8. I think it looks great. I think play value is great. Kids will love it. And considering that this is not even H1 flagship, and it has 1300parts, there is very little to complain about. Maybe...wheels make it look hover too high about surface....maybe...different kind of ship would offer more possibilities for functions (maybe fishing trawler with reels, ropes, nets, openable hull and bunch of City fish (like BWE had "rocks")...maybe. Anyway. I like it.
  9. where is the clapping and bowing emoticon when I need one? Kids, it is about the kids. That is what LEGO does. Toys. It is not about AFOLs. How often is this forgotten or overlooked. Thank you for reminding those who forget.
  10. I would agree on instructions. But it does not bother me. I just go through individual steps faster. Faster per step, with more steps. Experience is similar. I do not consider (and never did) instructions as some sort of code that needs to be cracked. Building according the instructions is easy. Do not kid ourselves. My 7old daughter can build any of my Technic sets according to the instructions. When she is designing her own stuff, she struggles with Technic and only build simple stuff (gates for city, simple bridges for her city) and she sticks with Creator/city/friends system bricks. But with instructions, she can (and enjoys) Technic. Is that wrong? But I find general building (when building according to imagination - now known as MOCing - this therm was not around in 80s )harder and more brain engaging with studless system than old studded Technic. I think with studless you can do more, possibilities are wider, you can do more, build more complex stuff, be more compact etc, but it is not by any chance easier (and that is good! )
  11. Really? Aside from "42065" discussion which I do not want to participate in, but just out of curiosity: "which Technic set from 80s/90s is comparable in complexity to recent ones (Arocs, Class, BWE, Porsche, 8043, Unimog, 42042...any of those)?" I somehow can't remember anything. Even flagship sets back then were super simple to todays mid-range (e.g.8851 is simpler than 42053, Isn't little bit like those memories/nostalgia driven notions as "when I was a little boy, there used to be more snow during winter" (sure, because you were short as a boy)
  12. I think were are at the same spot like before with 42060. We discussed audience, targets, design goal, price and expectations deformed by us being AFOLS. Here with 42065 it is similar. It is for playing, driving. And it seems to be great for it. It does not look like some building marvel. But it is obvious it is not supposed to be. Design goal and marketing goal was obviously different. And after seeing the video (Thank you Sariel) I think it is terrific for the job. I will not buy it, because it is not what I expect from Technic. But I understand why it must be perfect for others. We all want different things from Lego and that is why it is great there are so many choices. Am I wrong?
  13. That is EBT price (early bird tax). 2 months later it will be available in other e-shops for 2/3 of that. I never pay RRP. Patience saves money.
  14. ruddevators - if that would be the case they would be more or less 45 degree in angle. yf-23 (Northrop design that lost to F-22 and was not selected for USAF) only main wing configuration (no tailwing - no canards) would need much bigger wings in proportions. See e.g. Concorde and if these flaps on the Legojet only turn downwards, that is a bit shame. BTW: apart from plane all H1 sets are available on legoshop (I don't know it that is a new news to anybody)
  15. because it is true. So it is obvious to both of us
  16. I think (I only saw pictures) wings look way too small. like "F-104" kind of small
  17. I buy, build, take apart, MOC something, take apart, build something different, take apart, meanwhile buy something else, build, take apart, design something new, take apart, rebuild again, take apart....I can carry on, but you get what I am saying.
  18. 1) stop buying Lego for a while 2) buy a bigger house 3) start buying Lego, when you run out of space move to 1) Repeat. (sorry )
  19. There are jet planes with just main wings (no tail wings) e.g. Mirage 2000. There are also jets with combined flaps and ailerons into one unit. Here I guess Lego did not make it "too" similar to F-35 on purpose. They would have to get a licence from Lockheed-Martin (Lockheed, I would bet, would be only happy to grant it), but then LEGO would face their own "no military stuff" policy. So only way to prevent this Catch 22 is to make the plane not like F-35.
  20. That is amazing!
  21. I just watched 3D video. Bit vertigo inducing but super cool. Keep them coming! I like it.
  22. Nobody*) saw the jet plane in motion yet. Nobody saw functions at work yet. Nobody saw its mechanics, gearboxes yet. We can talk about colours, shape, stickers and so on, but functions talks are bit premature. I would wait with dismissing opinions a little. Maybe till we actually see what it does (and how). That might be reasonable. But that is just me... *) and those who saw it are very silent - which in totally OK and understandable and it should not be otherwise.
  23. agreed. I think they are both designed mainly with kids on mind. And I think with that in mind, they are both great.
  24. I would disagree with the sentiment of 42060 review. I think, Sariel, your point of view is inherently AFOLs view. And you missed sets purpose, target audience and therefore its appeal to its customers, IMO. Within the price range, you get good looking (my opinion) 2 vehicle set, with cool playability, interesting building, very versatile part pack*) and kids will love that (and be able to afford that). Kids. Do you, and in general AFOLs, remember kids? Quite often I have a feeling that dissapointments and criticisms towards LEGO is based on strange notion like it is all about AFOLs. Well, it is not. *) great for mocing, moding, c-modeling. Argument about "new parts" cheaper elsewhere is pointless for most of the target audience. Lots of kids either just start with Technic (wouldn't 42060 be great 1st Technic for somebody? I think it would be terrific), or do not have (yet) huge part inventory that "needs upgrading with new parts".
