  1. Very cool MOC. Lots of functions in a compact model. Also, very playable being both RC and manual. And the gearbox is meaningful because you can see it's effect as it opens up the various functions. This is what I want from Lego, not monstrous 4000 part sets or supercars with gear crunching gearboxes for speed change. This is classic Technic and I really hope to see it on Rebrickable at some point in the future.
  2. That's the crux. Current wheels run fine when they become old. I very much doubt new wheels will have the same longevity.
  3. Yes, and this set has one of the best official B-model as well. For those who enjoy rebuilding, it is one of the best set in recent years.
  4. It could be due to gear play, but it's more likely because of how the servo is connected to the pinion gear. If the servo is directly connected to the pinion (via an axle), the rack will be properly centered keeping the wheels straight. Alternatively, if you put one intermediate gear, then the pinion will be off by half a gear tooth, so the rack can not center. Summary is ... you have to connect the servo directly to the pinion, or via an even number of intermediate gears. (Odd number of intermediate gears will cause misalignment by half a gear tooth, which is enough to make the car drift slightly to one side). This is a problem with the PF servo since it has an absolute "zero" position. With new Control+, we can hopefully set the zero wherever needed.
  5. I am totally fine with 8 wide if TLG promise to not use stickers anymore for the car's features. But unfortunately, it looks like the Huracan already uses stickers for headlights
  6. Nice to see an unconventional C model ! Should be a lot of fun.
  7. I tried that once, but stopped at the breadboard prototype. Used the Lego IR receiver's output PWM to trigger external H bridge. Used a transistor based circuit to switch 9V voltage level to 4.5V for both direction and PWM of external bridge. My external bridge supported upto 20V/6A, so I had some fun driving an L motor at higher voltages. But I chickened out at 15V. All Lego motors are too expensive for sacrificing to science
  8. Very cool ! Awesome idea to have "working" planes and helicopters !
  9. I think the fake gearbox is rather nice. Besides, its no dumbo ... it also has some clever construction. So my vote is
  10. Nice ! Captures the broad look very well. The new fenders are really opening up possibilities for the creative ! Imagine if TLG had created the new fenders (both large and small) in red, white and black first. Many more amazing car MOCs would have blossomed.
  11. I think that's amazing customer support. it's unlikely there is any other company which will replace parts at no cost with such minimum of fuss. And imagine doing this worldwide ... just amazing. I believe the quality issues will get corrected automatically when the feedback goes about the number of replacement requests. A similar issue had happened in the early days of the PF servo motor. Many of them were breaking down with almost no usage, so that they would turn only on one side. Lego would have had to spend a lot of money on replacements ... and eventually they fixed it somehow so that the newer batches of the servo work fine.
  12. Wow, what a beautiful MOC !! Functions so well and looks awesome. Looking at the photo, I first thought that it was more like a city/creator model. But was pleasantly surprised to see all the functions packed inside !
  13. Ingenious little creation ! Great usage of parts. Video was entertaining and hilarious. Loved the point by point comparison with the bigger one
  14. That's actually good news. It's a good sign if the designers/engineers are brimming with so many ideas and creative work, that they are short of time. That means Technic is a healthy subtheme and, if at all, TLG needs to hire more designers.
  15. I suspect TLG very well know what they are doing. Perhaps their market research suggests that nowadays most people buying big sets do not rebuild. (I wouldn't be surprised). Certainly creativity/ability of designers is not the issue here. From year 2019, both corvette and car transporter have very good B-models. From 2018, the rally car, forklift, and first responder have good B-models, and the Mack truck has an exceptional B model. So "no B model" may very well be intentional. We can take this as a challenge/opportunity
  16. For the price conscious (and gearbox haters), a poor man's 4x4 ... has an equally unique colour scheme. (From Jim's 42069 review)
  17. Beautiful truck, looks awesome !! And thanks for showing the belly shot in the video.
  18. I am hoping that the set will be buildable with existing parts to a large extent. Because of the boxy appearance, replacing the new wheel arches with liftarms may not spoil the look so much. Wheels may also be an issue. Fingers crossed. Looking forward to grey, red/white, black, etc versions
  19. Somehow missed this earlier. What an amazing truck !! Clean lines and looks so elegant. Impossible to guess so many functions are packed inside !
  20. I will suggest not distributing instructions until the Lego ideas process is over. After that, I guess you will be free to share instructions irrespective of Lego's decision.
  21. Wow, what a beauty !! It looks fantastic. And the video shows it runs quite well. Have supported on Ideas. Really hope this one makes it through.
  22. Very nice final result for the Porsche ! Getting the shape do good in this scale is amazing ! Surely deserves instructions Would be great to have "challenging" instructions where the model has to be built from a few pictures showing the "exploded view".
  23. Fantastic model ! Clean lines and efficient parts usage. Today's MOCs (and sets) have a parts bloat. This is a welcome departure.
  24. Awesome ! Ingenious use of the bucket ! Thanks for sharing.
