LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion
Wesley D replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I didn't care for their heads, but I could use some of The Simpsons minifigures for their torsos and legs. It was nice they are yellow-skinned too! I miss that in the licensed minifigures. -
Lego Re-releases - What would you like to see?
Wesley D replied to ElectroDiva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I surely would buy a re-release of the Emerald Night, but I rather see LEGO go forward with new sets. With new parts and techniques they can offer more and more detail. There are some sets I would like to have, but perhaps LEGO will someday offer similiar sets in an even better state. Maybe we'll get another Haunted House in another monster theme or a new Metroliner in the lines of City or Creator Expert. -
I don't expect re-releases of the oldest modulars. The modulars are evolving, ever more new parts are used to enhance their level of detail and looks. If you want the first ones, just try to build them yourself! I built my version of Café Corner, Market Street and Green Grocer. I had to make some small changes due to parts that aren't available anymore. Now I like them even more than I would if I had bought them new. Rather than re-releasing I think LEGO should some make parts available again that are needed to reconstruct the older modulars. It would be a great help if the 1x2 brick with groove was available again in sand green and the 1x8x2 arch in earth blue for example.

[REVIEW] 70629 - Piranha Chase
Wesley D replied to makoy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The Piranha mech looks just to cute! I like this mech the most of the whole line. It looks so funny! The big wheels of the rickshaw look funny indeed, but the upper part doesn't work for me. I think the rickshaw looks way to big. This set has all elements for playing some action scenes! Children will surely have a great time with this set. Personally I would have liked the civilian minifigures of this line to have got more neutral or happy faces instead of all the scared faces now. It make a nice box picture, but it limits their possible use in play greatly. It's a shame the face of Lady Iron Dragon is so poorly printed. I simply expect LEGO to offer premium quality. I'm willing to pay the price for quality and I do consciously not choose for alternative or knockoff brands, but something it feels like LEGO could use some competition to be encouraged to keep putting their best foot forward! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I've read here several times that LEGO announces new sets ever closer to their release due to copying companies. I do not quite understand this. Do these companies offer sets that are based on the exterior of newly announced sets? I guess it isn't possible to reverse engineer a whole set just based on some preliminary pictures. Or do they use espionage when they know of a new upcomming release? Could it harm LEGO to spread some rumours of a new long-awaited set, like the annualy modular, to get us hyped or calm us down? It would interest me a lot to learn the size, the name, the color or the type of building or buildings we are going to get. -
Perhaps this interim poll is made to determine the least favorite collectable minifigure?

I have mine already for a while displayed. The setting, the colors and the details make a great atmosphere. The shop assortiment triggers the imagination, with all displayed maritim items and some fun elements, like the not-so-ethical TNT. There are also some referrals to the movie Jaws, like the minifigure with sideburns can represent Sam Quint and the sticker with 'Boat Rentals' depicts a boat just like the Orca. It's just fantastic that unlike on the preliminary picture seagulls were included! I had a fun time building the base of the building and adding the details to the building. I can understand koalayummies opinion: but as it all adds to the final result it is rewarding as you see the building growing. One thing I don't really like is the cross section of the upper part of the tower that is rectangular unlike the square cross section of the lower part of the tower. Depending on the point of view, especially from the side, it looks a bit off. I have still to get used to it. Another thing that slightly bothers me is the two studs wide passage to the office. That's too narrow for minifigures. It was interesting I got a newspaper tile, different that the classic one depicted on the box. It is one I had never seen before with a fireman on it, but with almost the same text: 'THE LEGO NEWS - The greatest hero ever' instead of the 'THE LEGO NEWS - The greatest LEGO hero ever'. I'm very glad to have the Old Fishing Store and it adds character to my town (even though that one exists mainly in my fantasy).

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
You guys really got me hyped for a train station! But then I want LEGO to release a new Creator train as well, since I, and I guess some others, did miss out on the Emerald Night or Horizon Express. For a while I'm thinking of building a big building in my modular town, in the same style and scale of the modulars, perhaps single standing, but definately monumental, like a museum, but a train station would be great as well! It would be great if LEGO offered us one! It would be an excellent effort to tempt us into collecting LEGO trains! -
Great project! You created some very nice characters! The cute LEGO baby becomes frightening with that wig! Evil scarecrow and clairvoyant are very spooky too! Little witch is so cheerfull, it would be nice to add her to my halloween collection.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion

Thank you very much! I don't care for the Batman CMF (too much batsuits and unfortunately the minifigures aren't yellow skinned), but I'm very curious to see CMF18! -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion
Wesley D replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The topic is getting extensive, but I'm I right CMF series 18 will be released in may, thus a year after series 17 and that it will be made up of costumed characters? Is it certain there will be again a mystery minifigure or a very rare one or perhaps both? Only one regular minifigure series a year is a long wait. As with each series I'm very curious to see the minifigures, but I'm not a big fan of costumed minifigures. They are mostly far fetched and not really useful in my city or other LEGO fantasies. I hope to see some interesting ones, but otherwise I won't mind since I stopped collecting them all because of the price. Has anybody an idea when we can expect the next series to be announced? -
Amazing! For me you are a LEGO master builder! You experimented with the brickwork before, but here you came to an outstanding result! The used colors could have made a rather dull building, but you with all your detailing managed to make it look so nicely finished and cheerfull. I also love the interior and all of those little minibuilds! Your presentation is the cherry on the cake!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I share that opinion, but the front sides of the modulars are the only parts of them I see after I've built them and those I find coherent and pretty realistic. NINJAGO City feels more like a cyberpunk fantasy setting to play with and let your imagination go wild. Do you have pictures of it and your city? I'm very curious to see them! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think NINJAGO City is overwhelming detailed and couldn't be better finished for what it is ment to be, but it is a stacking of very different parts of buildings. Those parts aren't finished buildings. The result isn't a finished building neither. NINJAGO City doesn't try to look like a building like the modulars do. It would take a lot away of its 'cool' factor, but I would have bought it if it wasn't stacking but built horizontally as a city with each part as a full building. I like it so much, but I can't afford buying all fun LEGO like there is around. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I really hope the next modular won't be delayed because of all the great sets that are released recently. I got the Old FIshing Store, but there it stops for me. I've been tempted, but I finally decided NINJAGO City feels too unfinished to me. I won't be capable to modify it enough to my liking. Others are interesting, but not interesting enough to justify buying. Too much choice is stressfull. -
Fantastic! Very nicely detailed buildings! The worn stairs and the plants on the wall add magic to the scene! The tower is wonderful! It looks probably on its best between other modular buildings, since the roof of the outer buildings is assymetrical. The inverted corner on the back is nice too! Do you have any pictures of the interior? Is there a stairway in the building? You make great modulars!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I wasn't sure of building my own version of the Green Grocer as I feared it would be oversized compared to the newer modulars, but then one day I saw a building with tan masonry bricks and big windows, it was very big compared to its neighbours. It looked like a real version of the LEGO Green Grocer. Now I have my sand green masonry Green Grocer and I'm very glad with it! LEGO is trying to tempt us into buying big sets with double VIP-points and an exclusive VIP set. I guess we can expect an announcement soon! But only after we have impulsively bought one of the big sets like Ninjago City or Old Fishing Store because we don't have a modular to save our money for! -
Amazing scene! All little details are so well done. It looks so realistic! Too bad there is no interior, but then again it isn't exactly in theme with the modular line
-
I love your modulars very much! They are so cheerful! The angled windows are fantastic. Nice how you came up with another variation for your 16-wide modulars. I'm not a fan of decals, but you made some nice ones!
-
Very nice addition to a city scene! I would like it very much in mine! If you're worried about smooth surfaces, you might try olive green masonry bricks. I'm really impressed by the rocks and the water coming down from the pipes.
-
Beautiful shops! The black and the white variation of the front look both very well! The interior of the bakery, pharmacy and dentist practice are nicely detailed too! I like how the diagonal corridor cuts the build in two symmetrical parts, but then again it's nice too you made the outer ends (dark blue and dark orange) different to each other in structure and color!

Rava Town is such a big city. I guess there isn't a single LEGO set that isn't present in your town. The tower buildings add a lot of atmoshere to it! I really like the plane flying above your town!
