LEGO Collectable Minifurries Series 28. Rumors and discussion
Wesley D replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I guess I know why there wasn't chosen for short legs. Posable legs make it easier to place the minigures more stable, especially when they are wearing costumes. I like this series a lot! I didn't expect me to, as I long for a classic series of collectable minifigures. They don't come too often anymore!- 178 replies

21359 Italian Riviera is almost there! As a fan of the modular buildings I like it a lot, it looks so alive, colorful and cosy. Such a picturesque diorama! -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Thank you for sharing! The building really looks very nice. It's even more beautiful brick-built! Didn't it get too expensive? I guess that gets completely forgotten when seeing the result. Congratulations! Enjoy your family! -
The upcoming set 21359 Italian Riviera looks really nice. It's colorful, cosy and picturesque. I'm looking forward to see more details of the set. The buildings look to open up just like the modular buildings. I can't wait to order mine!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

That's a beautiful looking building. It seems as it's a well thought out creation. How was your experience building it? Do you have pictures of yours? -
Fantastic build and nice photography too! I think the car would make a great GWP.

Great tabletop town! Thank you for sharing it with us. It is like a scene in the LEGO catalogues from more than 30 years ago. How much pleasure I have had studying them. The builds are simple to current standards, but at the same time they are charming and triggering creativity. I noticed Vacation Hideaway in the corner of your layout. I think it's a great example of how simple, but charming and cheerfull LEGO sets were at that time. I'm curious if there are any sets you still would like to add in the future. I wish you a lot of fun enjoying and developping your town!

Nice tropical vacation setting! There's a lot going on in the diorama. I like the plants! Keep on building! Your builds always are impressive!

Impressive dollhouse, it is beautiful! The furniture and interior elements are fantastic. Such great mini-builds! It is also huge. A bit too big for my limited space and to fit in between my modular collection, but I'm supporting it on LEGO Ideas anyway. I'm looking forward to seeing it built in bricks. I wish you a lot of fun building it!

Those rocks are quite original! I also really like the grass on top of them. The exaggerated proportions and bright colors in the diorama provide a cheerful and dreamy feel. Keep on building!

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Nice retro space car, but those minifigures definitely look too modern. They don't fit well. -
Great build! It reminds me a lot of the 10211 Grand Emporium. The fire escape adds visual interest. It's good to see it brickbuilt. I think the sand green provides more contrast than sand blue and fits more with the brick yellow ground floor and earth green accents. Keep on building!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm sorry but I disagree. Brick-built solutions deserve so much love. So many prints and stickers that could be omitted with some good design. It's LEGO after all! I remember feeling so joyful to recognize that specific part as bacon when I was building Downtown Diner! -
Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Wesley D replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Good to know they can do the effort of making special prints for one of the most exclusive sets of 2024, DS2024 The Magic of Play, while we still get stickers in pretty high priced sets, like in 10332 Medieval Town Square. I had not bought it yet, because I was torn up over all the compromises that set clearly shows, but now I'm sure I never will. More and more I think LEGO has to step up their game if they want to be and stay a premium product, 'Only the best is good enough'. -

10341 Artemis I Rocket & Launchpad Discussion
Wesley D replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
LEGO sets are relying too much on stickers. Eventhough the sets aimed at adults are very nice, the stickers hinder to let them feel as premium quality. It's always a huge letdown for me, especially considering the prices of these sets. It even makes me feel losing my interest. I think they really need to step up their game. -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Wesley D replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The Medieval Town Square does it job well to compliment the Lion Knights' Castle in the same style. I like the colors and looks of the Medieval Blacksmith, but it felt oversized to me. The Medieval Town Square has the proportions I wished for. Nevertheless I don't know I will get it. The color scheme is a bit dull for LEGO, but it feels genuine. The leaked image had given us all high expecations, so it's a bit of a letdown to get less minifigures and animals, as it would have made this town square more lively. I understand it pushes the price down, but it's still an expensive set (at least I do consider so). Only a bit more minifigures and animals wouldn't have put the set in a a completely other price range. What really puts me off are some substantial issues: -Why did they even consider such an ugly black box? The build doesn't even look remotely attractive on it. Why didn't they use a retro packaging like they did for the 10305 castle? -What's the use of including a shield painter when there is only one decorated shield in the set? It makes it so obvious they have been cutting corners on this set. -Why have there to be so many stickers? Most of them are unnecessary. I would rather have not seen stickers at all than those on the 1x2 tiles. The give us a beautiful wall tapestry, but of course it's a sticker. Why don't they do some brick built easter eggs instead? It's LEGO! Why don't they plan ahead and make some universal prints that could be used in multiple sets, like shutters, a parchment with unreadable notes and a sign for an inn? I really would have forgiven everything else if they had omitted the stickers. So I don't think it's a bad build, but the set gives me the uncomfortable feeling LEGO is trying to do a cash grab. It makes me even feel so bad that it feels as if this set is not bringing me to the Middle Ages, but towards my LEGO dark ages. -

How I hate sets being dependant of stickers. If something has to be visualized, give us some printed pieces, especially in expensive +18 sets, or even better, find some brick-built solutions, it's LEGO! -
Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Wesley D replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm really sad to see LEGO exploiting nostalgy over and over. It started with some love letters to the classic themes. Galaxy Explorer and Lion Knights' Castle are fantastic sets without compromises. Now it feels like they are just thinking about cashing. The love had to move over for ratio, compromises are made, there is cutting corners everywhere they can. I refuse to encourage them to continue this path. I'd rather have less nostalgic sets, but I'd rather be blown away when we could get one. -
I completely think it is a fantastic set for play, but it is a fact Eldorado Fortress is advertised as a 18+ set. My problem with the set is they couldn't choose what they wanted this set to be: a play set or a display set, a finished remake of the original fortress or a modular set. The result feels half-hearted to me and I can't feel the skill and the enthousiasm of the designers compared to previous nostalgic sets. I really want to like the set, but I can't. Wouldn't it be ridiculous spending money just because I love the theme? I don't mind a canon near the admiral, but I really dislike how unfinished this looks:

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 25. Rumors and discussion
Wesley D replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Today I tried my luck scanning QR codes. I got all the minifigures I wanted I'm curious if it was ment to be so easy to determine the contents of the blind boxes. I guess they won't make it so easy the next time. When I was young I never liked Fright Knights, even Dragon Knights looked so not castle to me, but Basil the Bat Lord, uhm, Vampire Knight is an amazing minifigure!- 574 replies

It's getting painfully obvious LEGO is aiming for our nostalgia and misusing our fear of missing out. It was fun to see such sets, but not so much anymore when it's getting hard to keep up with them.
