It's going to be another expensive LEGO year for me! A bus was a vehicle I still wanted for my modular street, and no doubt there will be one in the Bus Station set. I don't expect it will be possible to resist buying the Fun at the Beach set, as it took a lot of self-discipline not to buy multiple Fun at the Park sets. Curious to find out which new animals will be in the jungle sets!

Nice and very detailed tavern. It radiates warmth! The stalls are fine work too! I really like the multicolored translucent front panels. Only a week ago I figured out the fences can be used that way, but you found the best colors and setting to use it in!

Great athmosphere! There is a clue to the high days the cinema must have had, but they seem to be long gone. A pity you didn't like your PC. I wasn't sure to buy the modular, but now I have build it, I love it!

A year ago I did have the same modulars as you do now, plus the GE. This year I completed my collection, although I don't have build all of them yet. I began with collecting the pieces for the CC. Some bricks aren't available anymore, or they do cost a lot, so I made some changes. I replaced the original doors by 6-high doors and therefore I had to make a few modifications in the structure around them. The dark blue arches were too pricey, so I changed the dark blue in dark grey. I also used newer windows on the higher floors. You'll have to replace some turntables to 2x2 plates with one stud, as you'll have difficulties finding them in the correct colours. Recently I made the cafe sign with the new skis. The old ones would look a bit better, but I don't think it's worth the price. I'm very pleased with the overall result! It was my plan only making a CC, but as you all know how addictive the modulars are, I was seduced by the boxed Town Hall and Fire Brigade. They were expensive, but I don't know if I could find all the necessary pieces, or that it would be cheaper in the end than what I paid now. Plus I had experienced while building my version of the CC that it had costed me a lot of time collecting all the pieces and figuring out solutions for parts I couldn't find anymore. After owning them, I couldn't resist collecting the pieces for the GG and the MS. Pieces, as those original sets are way too pricey for me! I didn't go for the sand green bricks with groove, as they costed a lot! I went for masonry profile bricks, and made some modifications on the left side of the GG so the whole front would be masonry. If Lego produces the sand green bricks with groove again, I'll consider buying them. I also changed the 1x8 sand green bricks by shorter ones, as they were pricey too! For the MS, I have modded the modular in colour and a bit in structure into something I like more. I think the most difficult parts would be the dark blue arches, the black owl, the green wig and the white tubes. Some minifigures are hard to find, but I didn't mind a few changes. Good luck with what you choose to do!

Nice building. I like the style, a bright building outside and inside, with all those windows. Like the way you have photographed it, it would suit very well in a green environment!

Wow! Wonderful! I really like the brickwork and the shop. If it was an official set, I would buy it right away!

Two months ago I had the same dilemma. I chose the Fire Brigade. I had already collected most of the modulars and the building was easier to display on my shelves. If you don't go for all the modulars, I guess the Ghostbusters HQ is a better deal. It looks more impressive. It's costly, but the retired Fire Brigade was expensive too!

The hall with the two (?) train levels looks so realistic. Very impressive building! It would be very nice to see the station populated with minifigures!

Thank you! I just Googled those books, as I'm not familiar with the Harry Potter theme. They would indeed fit right in! Between the tiles representing books I have put some real Lego books, but they aren't visible in the pictures. I'm thinking about placing a few more of them.

The museum looks grand and impressive, both in and outside! The colours you have used fit very well, especially the tiling is surprising! I'm curious what is exposed in the museum showcases.

Thank you all! I would like to see a picture of your modded Bike Shop & Café! When starting the topic, I wasn't sure if I could call it a MOC, as it was based on the 31026 set. I had bought it because I saw a lot of inspiration for a modular in it. Soon after starting however I experienced it would take a lot more bricks and creativity to make the set into a modular. The project was quite challenging and fun!

Thank you all for your comments! Building modulars is indeed very addictive! One has to have a lot of self-discipline to make it not get out of hand! I thought it could have been built around 1900. Multiple elements are inspired by buildings here in Belgium from that era. I wouldn't mind at all! I would be very eager to see how you do it. I just don't know what the bookshop owner would think of a second branch, as he always considered his bookstore to be independent!

Last year I bought Lego 31026 Bike Shop & Café, thinking about turning those buildings into modulars until I discovered that it would take much more bricks! I abandoned that idea, but still I felt the urge to make my first modular creation. A book store was something my modular street could welcome, so I began to gather my ideas and my bricks, then I bought a lot more of them and this is the result: The lower flour, crowded with books: First flour, with even more books! Upper flour, the book store's owner's room: Thank you for watching!

Fantastic museum! Nice how the themes are displayed, nicely dosed with key elements so it doesn't look too crowded.

[MOC] Modular Pedestrian Street: In Search of the Lost Treasure

Nice detailed buildings! A lot of elements of the right buildings remind me of the organic style of Gaudi. -
Impressive! Such a happy for those Mini-dolls to live in! I love the colours of the buildings!

Nice shop! I especially like the facade of the ground flour. The interior even makes me, who doesn't like shopping, want to have such a Lego clothing store!
-
Impressive! Not only it is enormous, but you even have managed to fill it with so much detail!
-
Wonderful! So much polished details! It has the best Lego chess set I've ever seen. The fences on the back and the side are beautiful, but the front fence is fabulous! Are all parts you have used already produced in those colours?

Lomis, thank you very much for sharing the file! Thumbs up for your effort! I've just tried placing Assembly Square next to some of the early modulars in LDD and I dare to say they go reasonably well together. I feared it would look way too small! Such a relief! When rotating the modular, it is striking how much depth there is! I really think this one will look stunning in real life!

That problem occurs also when changing the position of the Pet Shop and the 'brownstone' house from that set. If you don't mind 'modding' a little, maybe you may place the lamp-posts on other positions.

What bothers me the most at this moment is that it seems the only way to the dentist is through the bakery. To go to the other upper rooms, the minifigs have to pass along the dentist.

I was dissapointed when I got the first glimpse of the foto on the box. It looked way smaller than I had expected. First thing I thought it seemed a Creator 3-in-1 set, with a small remake of the Cafe Corner. Half an hour later, when I had more time to look at the pictures, I realised the florist shop was hidden partially behind the bakery on the box foto and the buildings aren't that small at all, compared to the last modulars. Seeing so much details and colours and so much going on made me very enthusiastic about this set! TLC called it the "ultimate modular", but it isn't as 'modular' as I had expected, and I don't think this one will catch the eye the most of all modulars. Nevertheless I think the depth will make it even much more appealing in real than on foto! I will get this one for sure, without a doubt very soon! Could anyone explain why it is called "Assembly Square"?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I fear that will be very likely. Honestly I don't like the trend the last modulars are going. I liked the exterior of the DO very much, but was a bit dissapointed when I had build it. The shared interiors on the first floor felt to me like cheating. I haven't build the BB yet, but I have the impression the shared interiors will bother me less, but the result of the two combined buildings on one baseplate is that the bank looks so small compared to all other modulars! (And it has to be combined with the other modulars, because of the ugly backsides.) An extra midfloor could be a solution, but because of the combined laundromat and bank that isn't easy to accomplish without much modding, while in my opinion that shouldn't even be required for the showpieces of Lego! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wesley D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
If we really are awaiting "Assembly Square", I wonder what the name means. Will it be a government building or square where meetings can be held? Or could it be a factory with an assembly line? Or a Lego store where children and AFOLs can assemble their creations? ... Maybe "Assembly Square" means even more : Could it be different modules that can be combined in different ways, finishing in several possible buildings? That way we could be tempted to buy multiple copies, to create all possible buildings. It could also explain why "Assembly Square" is described as "the ultimate Modular Building" in the leaked (or faked?) foto.
