Your Best Technic Bargains
Mantarri replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
BWE is still available, it isn't 199.99 anymore, but it is still quite cheap at only $240 (my younger brother actually bought it when it was 199.00), so I get to build my 42043, and he is gonna want help with his 42055. Also, the Claas Xerion 42054 is at Costco for $179.99, which is $229.99 at Lego S@H. -
Merry Christmas
Mantarri replied to Aswin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ahh, who doesn't love LEGO Technic & Mindstorms, am I right? Merry Xmas guys, here at my part of the world (I'm on PST time), It's 10:15 AM, and 3 days 'till Xmas. P.S. Unfortunately, my Merceds Arocs I ordered will be here after Xmas, which means no model building in 3 days. -
Wow, and I bought my Mercedes-Arocs the day before this thing went on sale for $200 CAD @ Costco. It looks awesome, and I actually know what a BWE is (and I'm not German ), the way they have it so the pieces can move all the way from bucket to truck is pretty cool!
-
Of course it happens after I order & pay for the Merc... Well, at least the Merc has nice wheels. :P
-
I've now finally ordered the Arocs; I got it off BrickLink used (comes with everything except the box) for $232 Canadian (that is somewhere around Euro 160). Now I've just got to *groans* wait. :P

I do this with every construction toy I buy/get (LEGO, K'nex, meccano knock-off stocking stuffers), only once though, then a MOCing I will go... On a slightly un-related note: Why are there no technic sets in Canada/USA for a reasonable price, It's cheaper to buy the set from Austria/Germany/etc. P.S. K'nex is good too, It's better for large structures (especially for your wallet), GBC's, and roller coasters (IMO), while LEGO Technic is better for stuff with lots of gears, and/or smaller + stronger models.

Welp, I've decided to buy the Merceds-Benz Arocs 42043, 12 nice wheels, a lardge LA, pneumatics V2, 2 diffs, an L motor... You get the picture.
-
Nice review, like all the others I've read by you. I am currently stuck between ordering this, The Mereceds-benz Arocs 42043, or the Logging truck 9397. Hope you don't mind some spelling fixes Should be Note the comma, those things save lives And this Can just be this (No need for the "ly" at the end). First flagship non-tiny tractor, or at least for studless sets.

Technic Pub
Mantarri replied to jantjeuh's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What happens is, the url changes, but the forum doesn't seem to go to the next page, so refreshing loads the url, which is now the url for the next pag. -
Thanks for the advice, I'll check over the lists of technic sets there are, for the 3rd time.

As everyone said, only the wedge plats, I give this a 16 on a scale of 1-10! P.S. Thumbs to match:

Here are some sets I was personally thinking about, your thoughts? http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=8265-1#T=I http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=42029-1#T=I http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=42008-1#T=S&O={"ss":"CA"} http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=9397-1#T=S&O={"ss":"CA"} http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=42053-1#T=S&O={"ss":"CA"} P.S. The EV3 expansion sets looks a bit overpriced IMHO.

[WIP] Iveco Trakker 8x8
Mantarri replied to KikoTube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, we got a(nother) model team style builder, nice job so far. -
I'm willing to buy from pretty much anywhere that is known to not be a scam (or lepin), and I don't mind buying used. As for parts, I'm looking for diff(s), panels, good wheels (like the 2016 mineloader for example), LA's, frames, pneumatics, general truck MOC stuff basically, PF is nice, but not needed As I said, my budget is $200 CAD, so the BWE is out of the question (though I might stretch just up to 20-30 $ extra).
