Licensed Themes VS Original Themes
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion

Some City sets in US are $30 while €20 in my country. While some Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Batman for $20 are €30 in my country. The Hoth medical chamber was even €50, while $30 in US. License fees might play a bigger role then Taxes somewhere but still it's a weird situation. Batman sets in TLM2 don't seem affected by this. Overall, I don't collect Star Wars, Superheroes, or Harry Potter sets, part of the reason is the higher price, but still doesn't mean they should be discontinued going back to the original topic.

Exactly this, and I like how LEGO actually puts more double faces and hair piece/helmets in sets now across multiple themes. The new Hidden Side theme allows some of the figures to be normal, or monsters by swapping parts included.

Licensed Themes VS Original Themes
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
We have at least 1 picture of each set for the 2019 wave now. And so far it looks like a nice original addition theme beside City or Creator. It's nice that the theme can easily be used as City extension theme as the transform features and minifig monster parts are additions, and normal versions of the minifig heads/hair seem to be included. -
Diner interests me way more then a Train or Schoolbus would as I prefer buildings/shops. Seems like a useful theme overall, if you get bored of the ghost/monster stuff you can still use large parts of those sets for regular City. I'm at least glad they put the bigger vehicles in their seperate sets. However, there's still the Creator Pet Shop/Townhouse and City Donut Shop Opening I need to see as well, this year. Of course this theme might run for multiple years as well, so overall, it's a good addition.

This theme appeals a lot more to me then a Licensed Scooby Doo or Ghostbuster theme would do, mainly because it doesn't have to follow any movie/story/show that has been written already, so sets tend to be more freely designed. Also I like sets mainly focused on buildings/locations, and when the vehicle sets are seperate sets.

Lots of cool pictures here https://www.pocket-lint.com/parenting/news/lego/147078-lego-hidden-sides-augmented-reality I love the Haunted School style set a lot, the backside is really detailed and still feels complete for an open-backed building. Lots of great minfigs , and I love that it's just standard yellow, non-licensed minfigs + monsters, something that drew me to Nexo Knights.

With the 2nd LEGO Batman movie in the works, Batman won't go away for the next couple years.

Fantasy themes, Elves, and how dolls got in the way.

It just really surprised me on first sight, from never having seen one in person, and only in videos/pictures before which tend to be zoomed in, I thought they were a bit taller and not as thin initially. -
LEGO just released new cogwheels this year as well , just to give an idea. (Both parts found in 70828)

REVIEW: 70824 Introducing Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi
TeriXeri replied to Pchan1983's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think LEGO is trying to vary up the sets a bit at least, using different outfits and faces spread across the sets is better then just straight up duplicates. Also could be an incentive to trigger buyers to get X variant of character. And Susan is a great minidoll imo.- 7 replies

I'm not too fond of the downscaled (Movie Maker scale) palace set, but maybe if I see more of it, in a video or so, I can begin to like it more.
-
I just see 2 minifigs with plastic lightsabers, no blood or limbs flying. Not much different from any Castle or Pirate set with swords. Pirates even have peg legs and hook hands starting way back in 1989 , TLM2 benny has a robot arm in some of his minifigs, just an example that Star Wars isn't the only theme with amputated limbs. LEGO had plenty of Star Wars video games as well. Even if you'd remove the head or legs (arms aren't officially removable as lego parts) it's nothing a kid shouldn't see in the LEGO set. Even TLM2 Rex Dangervest has obviously a lot of bigger guns in sets: One of his guns actually uses an official part named Submachine Gun Ø3.2 Shaft, first time that's seen in an in-house theme as gun. (even tho TLM2 is still semi-licensed just like Nexo Knights was called Licensed in some cases)

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I just received the Popup Party Bus, and Movie Maker sets via a promotion I won earlier this January (bol.com dutch webstore) Really like the Party Bus set when actually building and having it, yes even the minidolls. The colors used are fantastic, and it's a spaceship with a not so usual but still great build, and the disco light effect works well too. Movie Maker set doesn't have a lot of volume, but there's still some fun things in it. On another note, anyone else got issues with Rex' hairpiece coming off easy? As for the new sets, certainly waiting for some video reviews. The palace looks like a Movie Maker scale set, not too hyped about that. Spa certainly does have a lot of cool pieces and prints, and no stickers. -

So I just got my hands on 3 minidolls for the first time ever via a TLM2 prize I won earlier this year via a webshop promotion in January (Thanks to LEGO and Bol.com). (Popup Party Bus, and Movie Maker sets) First impression is that they are much smaller then I initially thought, and I can certainly see myself grow into them. I still think minfigs have more advantages as far as posing/armor/accesoires and such. -
I don't think this set is any more kid unfriendly then a Pirates or Western set. Guns and Swords. Imaginitive play is like the core of LEGO, even if it's based off a movie/comic/tv show, ultimately LEGO can still be customized, and mixed matched, it's a System after all.

Well, it's different for my country at least , comparing the 2019 Monastery and Ultra Dragon, the Monastery is sold on many webshops since December, while Ultra Dragon I only found at 1 webshop/toyshop brand outside of S@H so far. Not even the specialized shops that sell larger D2C sets, and not on any of the European Amazon sites yet either. I can't speak for the whole of Europe here however. Maybe it's a regional difference.

Brickset lists it as a Retail - limited set, so it's not wide-spread distrubuted like regular sets, but still not just LEGO-Exclusive either.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion

That's is a pretty cool idea, and perfect for the Xtra line of sets. Just got this month's Issue of City Magazine with a Fireman + burning (octan) barrel, comic is themed around the new Fire sets. Next Magazine has a small 4 wheeled lawnmower vehicle with 2 spinning side blades + minifig. -

Found 4 different TLM2 Polybags at a store, they were kind of out of sight, piled together, and not many of them. Just happy to see Polybags circulating stores in Europe. 30527 Lucy vs. Alien Invader 30528 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard 30340 Emmet's Piece' Offering 30460 Rex's Plantimal Ambush -

Creativity isn't a race or competition, just make what you like, don't feel bad comparing it to others. Especially brick-built, that could be limited by available parts/collection. That said, your builds are definately not noob class at whatsoever. -
Still hoping for a LEGO Store in NL within the next 10 years...

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
TeriXeri replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Like I said in another thread, they could certainly be used for a lot, with that stud on front, some transparent or printed 1x1 element could completely change the purpose/faction, especially if the armor is in some more neutral color like silver/grey/black. Even an very old design armor piece like this (1991) jetpack could be used by non-Blacktron, and it was actually reused in a 1999 Spaceport theme later, but really the 2 studs on front could be customized in so many more ways. The thing with the Nexo Knights armors, the Dual molded ones would look out of place in a faction that doesn't really use neon orange, and even the single-molded ones have that shield-shaped hole on front. Now, they did re-use the 2nd season one on Pharah, but that minifig torso print is clearly designed around that armor piece positioning.- 991 replies

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Those armor pieces are pretty cool indeed if they will be used, the stud on front allows attachment of a lot of variable things, like a tile with a logo (nexo knights had 1x1 printed tiles for squirebots with small faction crests), or just transparent studs for accents. Nexo Knights alone had 3 different armor molds for it's run, some dual molded, and some transparent, but the hole in front really only works well if the Torso Print is positioned for it. (Which is the case for the Pharah minifigure, which uses a nexo knight season 2 recolored/dual molded armor) -

Similar with Nexo Knights, a lot of the things shown in the Books, Magazines, TV shows never made it into sets. And I don't mean the Forest/Water monster content but actual variants of Lava and Stone Monsters. Multiple issues of the magazines kept showing Lightning Scurriers in their art and puzzles. Even if you just go by the official media, which the TV show is the main one. A lot of locations or figures from the TV show never made it into sets despite clearly possible. For example the girl TV announcer bot (Alice Squires) was shown many episodes :
