  1. I agree on that, that's why I posted a comparison on the motor system, and I do think out of those 3 sets, the yellow 2009 brick-built RC car looks really good, but it does use a specialized vehiclebase as explained. Again, I have no nostalgia in to any of those sets, so my viewpoint is purely neutral.
  2. I had the 1998 brick built RC car, and the pieces fell off on the slightest bump, so I can understand a reason for the switch to mainly technic RC cars. 2009 Racers theme did include 2 brick-built RC cars. and I can imagine the yellow one (8183: Track Turbo RC) was pretty awesome for it's time, much smaller then the 1998/2001 version, so I'll give it it's credits to the Racing theme Most of the other Racers RC cars have been Technic, while brick version Racers RC cars used this Ir/Rx Vehiclebase 8X22 2018 had the app-controlled batmobile, the first system-RC car in a long time. The RC Batmobile basicly builds it's own 8 x 19 base around the Powered Up hub and 2 motors. Not that much size difference, but it uses a different steering method and is taller when you put the Hub on it. I do think a Powered Up version of a Vehiclebase could be cool, just probably too specialized for just 1 released set. The Batmobile set might have been a test to see how it'll sell, despite it's high price.
  3. vs (2019) vs (2017) vs (2019)(2013)(2018) vs (2018) Really the only main thing to me that Racers had that current themes don't, are the special road elements or race tracks. And after all, it's all LEGO so can be modified to make whatever looked like some older sets. Theres a ton of Formula 1 alternate builds on Rebrickable. The small brick pullback motors aren't made now, but still are only a few cents on bricklink. ( Pullback Motor 6 x 2 x 1 2/3 )
  4. I do think this is a good sized set offering, as compared to the Rexplorer which is over 4x as expensive. The 3-in-1 is a nice bonus.
  5. Many of the elements Racers had have been covered by other themes: Technic, Creator, Mighty Micros, DC/Marvel, City , Friends over the years, not just strictly Speed Champions. Chima, Ninjago, Spider-Man,Batman and even Nexo Knights have had multiple Motorcycles. Buggies, Trucks, SUVs also been covered by a large number of themes. Technic and Creator(Expert) vehicles have come in all sorts of sizes, from polybags and microscale all the way up to large display models. 2018 even had a RC batmobile, and a Friends go-kart subtheme. Since 2013, Technic has had 2 pullback motor smaller sets per year, even ongoing for 2019. Remote Control cars are still ongoing, with a technic set for 2019. Really the only thing I see truly unique to the Racers theme was a racetrack like this: And I say that from a pretty neutral standpoint, I have no particular nostalgia for 2001-2015 sets as I didn't follow LEGO during that time, I'm just mostly comparing Racers theme to the 2012-2019 sets.
  6. Racers is one of those themes during my dark ages so I have no nostalgia for it. (I did have the 1998 RC car however) Also the larger vehicles aren't my interest now, that includes Technic & Creator Expert. However I would love to see a Lamborghini done in the Speed Champions line. 2 Lamborghini Racers were done in 2009/2010 but 14-wide. Overall, more cars that are a max of 6-wide, with room for 2 passengers next to eachother could be cool to see, a lot more jumpers, tiles, and panel pieces were made over the recent years. (could be done in City/Creator as well) I know car MOC's are one of the most common categories out there, but seeing more normal street cars could still be nice as a sub-theme of Speed Champions. After doing some research, pullback motor technic cars are still being produced at 2 per year 2013 all the way to 2019. RC cars have been made multiple times recently as well, 2 in technic 2017(1 being a 6x6 large truck), 2018 had the RC batmobile, 2019 has another RC off-road tracked technic vehicle. So really the main thing Racers had were the actual Racetrack sets, the rest has been covered since.
  7. Exactly this. Jangbricks even explained multiple times on why he doesn't buy/review ALL of the Friends or Elves sets anymore, since other channels have had a larger viewerbase for it. Some youtube channels specializing in a certain theme is fully understandable, as there's simply a very large number of sets per year these days.
  8. From my old collection, I like Biker Bob that came with boxed version of the Creator video game. (1998). Later plastic case versions didn't come with it anymore. His face print was never made in another set. Also have some limited small sets from the 90s that were mostly supermarket promotions at the time in my country. That UFO minifig has a trans-neon orange head, and that was pretty amazing back then. (wasn't unique to that set but still the only one I had)
  9. And the cheapest way to get both an Emmet and Rex in some European countries at least would be to get Issue 1 and 2 of the Magazine, then you can make a Rex-Emmett and Emmet-Rex The main difference would indeed be the face print, and arm color. But I personally don't swap arms as it's not an official method. Space-suit Rex from the Dream House is still my favorite version , the dual mold legs, prints, and helmet are really good.
  10. Microscale was the only way they could properly get the scale across. While I likely won't ever get the set, I do think it looks well done for what it is compared to the movie version, which also has studs on the outside. Rexplorer is €130 already in my country, Rexcelsior set probably will end up around €160. Going to Minifig scale would go into the 10000+ parts and €1000+ price range. Same would happen with Hogwarts.
  11. So many anti-LEGO company comments on the official LEGO youtube channel videos now, basicly in german saying "not buying anything anymore", all related to this. OT: 501st battlepack comments/memes still ongoing too
  12. While I am plenty nostalgic to pre-2000 sets, I feel no urge to collect them now in 2019, I even keep them seperate from my 2015-onwards collection. Creator 3-in-1, and smaller City sets/people packs are currently my only 2019 main themes of interest. TLM2 only had 2 sets that really appealed to me as well. Best thing about LEGO at least is that you can MOC it, unlike some other toys or digital game content where you have not much if any say in the matter.
  13. First time using Stud.io , built a simple spaceship using parts of the 2019 Creator Futuristic Flyer set (31086) as a quick experiment. Minifig not included, and the underside is really basic.
  14. Alternate builds of a single set are one of my favorite types of MOC. Well done.
  15. I don't buy CMF by default due to the random aspect and the lack of them in local nearby store. Buying them from Bricklink directly still feels different. I love the People Pack sets however and hope they continue making them, and maybe branch out into different themes.
  16. Or included in Fun at the Fairground, even while I think CMF is more likely.
  17. Big news to me would be a new theme and not an extension of a current line of sets. 30th anniversary pirates, 40th anniversary classic space, or some Castle theme again could build hype for the Toy Fair or something. January announcement for some Summer wave release makes sense when TLM2 basicly took the attention for winter 2019. As for 2019 Harry Potter, of course it's always nice to see what they'd come up with next.
  18. That one really took the new year, only 23 days to get to 10.000. But understandable even if you just count Brazil that's over 200 million people. I do think it's a good way to remember the huge loss of historical items.
  19. I prefer Original themes, unless you call TLM2 licensed, and even then I don't care too much for the DC characters or minidolls. That doesn't mean I "hate" licensed sets or minidolls, I just don't collect them right now.
  20. I actually like the 2009 and 2015 pirate sets very much. I just was in a dark age at the time, and for 2016/2017/1st-half-2018 my main focus was Nexo Knights. I tend to move forward however, and not buy sets that are officially retired. For 2nd half 2018, I do have the Creator Pirate Rollercoaster and the 3-in-1 treehouse.
  21. Love the use of those axes as mirrors on the beetles.
  22. Great way to assemble a mosaic this way even if it's not attached with anything.
  23. Just found this on Brickset. Space has been a theme in the Education line as recent as 2018, this even has the Moon Mission clearly on it The other set is a 2015 "expansion" set and has a more space exploration feel with some brick built aliens (not all shown actually in the set) Very much shows the Space idea is very much alive even outside TLM2. Education has "sets" with great minifigs, including many community packs, and even fantasy characters, too bad they aren't up for regular retail. I found some older ones online with a rather high price, not the 2018 one. They have a bit of similarity to the 2018 60th anniversary sets, for 2018 even had one named "mission to mars", so maybe they'll do more of them for regular retail. Here's hoping for 2019 City Space Line provides at least some of this vibe, and a possible TLM2 summer wave for the more Classic Space way.
  24. I still personally never considered Nexo Knights or Ultra Agents a Space theme. Just because they have similar design points in common to space, mainly bright contrasting colors and transparent cockpit windows, even City and Creator been closer to an actual Space/Astronaut theme. That's just how I see it, still : have those themes filled the void of no "Space theme" outside of Star Wars, for LEGO, yes for sure. Ninjago has ninjas, high-tech, magic and monsters and isn't a space theme either. It's a huge hybrid of many sci-fi, fantasy and real world elements, I can't really go into detail as I haven't followed the story much. Ultra Agents: Ultra Agents is more like a Sci-Fi, high tech theme, with some supernatural, maybe alien villains and magic use. Solomon Blaze is a former Galaxy Squad minifigure however, story elements being linked to Galaxy Squad certainly are closest to an actual Space theme it has been till now. Anti-Matter was a former Ultra Agent (Morgan Lux), created a staff to fight evil but became a supervillain, so maybe supernatural/sci-fi but still no alien. Instead wanted to convert a city into servants with his portal machine. Nexo Knights: Nexo Knights has sci-fi high-tech knights, and fantasy Lava monsters summoned from books (magic), and Rock Monsters zapped to life by Lightning (magic). Later for 2018 wave it had cyber-originated tech-infection monsters originating from some parallel "digital" dimension to infect all Knighton's technology. The origin of the Vampire like monsters never really has been mentioned in great detail, but they do seem to have some form of magical origin as well. There's even portals linking the 2 dimensions, the Knights have to gather the Merlok powers to seal the portals, and eventually Clay even jumps into the Digital world himself to defeat Monstrox for good. The theme itself never goes to outer space, it just has Sci-Fi mixed with Fantasy elements, and Castle influences.
  25. I always saw Aquazone as some sci-fi theme on Earth. Never as a space theme underwater. It has the same elements of a space theme, bright transparent colors, and resource gathering via magnets (a system seen in multiple space themes) but the sharks and plants still gave it an human/earth feel to it. Rock Raiders and Power Miners had actual rock monsters, but I never saw those as Aliens either, just some fantasy world mixed with sci-fi machinery, almost closer in category to Nexo Knights, which also has monsters, magic and technology but no actual Space anything beside the looks having some familiarity with maybe Ice Planet neon orange. Aquazone, Rock Raiders, Power Miners, Nexo Knights all have 1 factor in common, they never go to actual outer space.
