  1. Looks indeed like you had fun! Thanks for the link, I will try building LIFTY with my daughters ...
  2. Thanks for this inspiring review (as always). It convinced me of buying this set. Although not really my preferred style, I prefer open/transparent designs and vintage Lego Technic, I agree it is a classic and it should be fun to build. Looking forward to other Classic reviews!
  3. My father brought me a model of the green Lancia Stratos from a business trip to Italy. I must have been 8, but ever sinceI have always had a weak spot for this car. I have followed your WIP with much interest, but the final result exceeds my initial expectations. My compliments!
  4. Wow! I thought the first picture was the original and the following pictures the Lego version. Looking closely I noticed the lego parts. :-)
  5. Glad you put it on Lego Ideas. I could imagine this becoming an official Lego Technic set ... if there is enough interest/promotion
  6. I love it! My favourite Technic Lego set! Would be very interested in instructions. By the way, my compliments as well for your others creations. I discovered with much interest your great rendition of the Rietveld-Schröder house. I'm looking forward to your future creations ...
  7. Wow! Compare this to Lego 8275 ... I'm really impressed. Another excellent example of the Dutch school ...
  8. My compliments! Probably the best Lego Technic bus I have seen so far ... I think Lego should consider developing it into an official set.
  9. It is not really small, but one of my favourite non-flagship sets: 8854 (http://brickset.com/sets/8854-1/Power-Crane)
  10. I guess the fact that Marktplaats belongs to eBay plays a role there. eBay is not really interested in improving Marktplaats as it would be in concurrence with its own mother company. It is free, but not risk free. If you want less risk, pay more on eBay ...
  11. I'm afraid I have been the victim of a scam ... I have had many good deals through the Dutch site Marktplaats.nl, but it looks like I have been fooled very professionally this time. The user was selling a 41999 for a good price. I made an offer, we agreed and he proposed I come and pick it up. As I live in Luxembourg I asked if he could send it to my parents place in the Netherlands. We agreed and I have transferred the money. I first checked if his account was known with the police, then I checked if the name existed in the place mentioned. All appeared to be fine. This morning I have received a warning mail from Marktplaats that it was probably a fraudulent advertisement and that the account and the advertisement of the person have been removed. As contact with the seller goes through Marktplaats, there is no way for me to contact him. The phone number that I had found on the web does no longer exist. I'm embarrassed that such a thing has happened to me, but I thought I share it with you ... Lesson learned: If it is too good to be true, don't do it. Also trust your gut feeling. In case you have doubts, check again or don't do it. There will be other opportunities.
  12. The issue with PVC backgrounds is that it attracts dust and can be difficult to keep clean. This can be disturbing in high resolution pictures ... With paper you just throw away the dirty part and roll down a fresh part of the paper.
  13. Congratulations on the second place! I found your creations and the studless version of the 851 Tractor more impressive than the final winner. The functionalities are cool but is is less rounded and true to the original than your creations ...
  14. I most of the time use my iPad, but I have encountered an issue with the instructions for the Car transporter by Mr Tekneexs. Probably due to the file size (350 MB) and the fact that I have stored the instructions on my NAS, I can't open the PDF on the iPad. The application simply crashes ... When the file size becomes too big, it is probably better to make the instructions in multiple parts.
  15. Great! I had not counted on instructions for this MOC, so I am really glad to read that they are in the pipeline. :-)
  16. I confirm, I maybe like the B model even more than the A model. There are many C and D models for the 42009. I just purchased MrTekneex' instructions for the Car transporter. Enjoy!
  17. Good idea ... Maybe my next build. Thanks also for pointing to the Designer Han C model. Looks interesting!
  18. I'm curious, I have just ordered your book ... So far I have organised my Lego Technic by not taking the models apart once build. This has resulted in a room full of large models and I have to say that I'm not a fan of this approach. I would like to keep 3-4 on display (853, 8110, 8480, 8275, ...). When I take a model apart I tend to keep the parts organised by set. As I have build most official sets and B-models I'm starting to explore building other people's MOCs. Sheepo's Defender for instance ... This however requires me to rethink the way I organise my parts ... When building I make use of Allit EuroPlus Flex 37-1 system with modular inserts. These boxes are great for sorting the parts before building a model.
  19. I think the Union Pacific Locomotive is an example of what I would call the "Dutch school" in line with the extremely realistic creations of Edwin Korstanje. There may not be much technic visible, but they are extraordinary achievements that belong in my opinion in the Hall of Fame. At the same time it also shows the weak point of the 100% Lego rule. Although I agree in theory, should you rule out the locomotive because it uses non-Lego wheels?
  20. In anticipation of the release of the Claas model I have decided to build 8859. It was one of those sets that I always wanted as a child, but never got. I bought it last year. I had not build any "vintage" models recently. The instructions are really cool. You sometimes have to guess where the pieces have to go. If you don't pay attention to the required pieces you will for sure miss things. I'm looking forward for a side to side comparison with the Claas.
  21. Is the bucket still available? I would be interested ordering one with shipping to Luxembourg, but I can't seem to send a PM, probably because I'm still a new member ...
  22. For me it was the Unimog (8110) as well. I had bought Lego for my daughter and enjoyed playing with her, but had not considered buying a set for myself. With 8110 this changed. I always have liked Unimogs. Next I retrieved all my old Lego Technic at my parents place and rebuild my favourite 853 chassis and the other vintage classics 852 and 851. Then I started buying second hand all chassis 8860, 8865 and 8880. After that I got really bitten by the Lego Technic bug and started buying as well more recent Lego technic flagship sets (8275!). I think I have build now all flagship sets and am now doing some B models. Just finished the Control Centre II T-Rex. :-) Next I plan to start building some MOCs. Sheepo's Defender is high on my list as well as some creations from Nico71 and Jason Alleman.
