  1. I don't think the Battle of Hoth is that bad...you do get a Tauntaun, some emplacements, a probe droid, some Snowtroopers and Rebels in addition to Rieekan and a Snowspeeder - although I'll admit it's a bit strange that we're getting a new Snowspeeder so soon after the last one. Gotta love the wicked sideburns on the Imperial Officer on the new ISD - very 70s!
  2. Except...it may be that as the rights to the Lego Movie belong to Warner Brothers Lego may bizarely be paying something back to Warner Brothers in terms of license fees. Crazy I know but possible depending on the deals in place. In any case an ugly looking set to my eye and I don't think I would buy it even if it was <$100.
  3. I'm 42 and I'm thinking the same thing - they would whack me over the head if I was willing to pay the asking price for this "thing". I love pirates but this looks like some kid on acid put it together. I don't doubt it's a fun build but it is just a bit too whacky and out of proportion (I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be very sea-worthy) for my taste and way too expensive to buy simply for parts.
  4. Well the new Imperial figures look decent but they're not very compatible with previous versions. I love the officer caps but I much prefer the look of the old Star Destroyer to this one (although hopefully this one isn't half as flimsy). The new walker has a lot more pieces than the last one but less figures and not even any rebels or emplacements to fight. Also having 8 of the old Snowtroopers I'm not sure if I consider it worth investing in any new Hoth sets although I'll admit the new ATAT pilot looks incredible. The new Sandtrooper looks good although the most recent ones were equally awesome. I'll probably just get the Cantina from this wave at this stage.
  5. I got the smallest Teenage Mutant Ninja set (Kraang's Lab Escape) from Coles Express on Clearance for $5.75 yesterday (RRP $22.95). Also saw Speedorz on sale at Myers for $9 with an additional 30% off on Red ticket sale today.
  6. I'd like a salty pirate tavern plus a cannibal island. A shipwreck set would also be great.
  7. Well now I know I can download the game from one of the cheaper online sites cause there's no way I'm paying top dollar for a retail box to get a Hobbit in his dressing gown like I did with the LOTOR game to get Elrond.
  8. My local Toys R US had all the new Star Wars sets and still has 20% off at the moment if anyone is looking for those.
  9. Is it just me or does the Arctic base seem to be crying out for a "The Thing" MOC? You've got the doggies for *that* scene or to combine with the Chopper, plenty of guys in parkas (can't see any dynamite but that's easy enough to add) plus lots of other good Wintery stuff. The polar bear is of limited use I guess but other than that it's all good...a few flame pieces would be needed of course plus maybe some of those nice big tentacle pieces.
  10. I finally found this set yesterday - and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Apart from the actual big gun, which was as poor as I expected and will shortly become spare parts the new Royal Guards look quite decent and the Gunners themselves are awesome - they even have slightly different facial expressions which I didn't notice at first which is probably unneccessary given their bloody great big helmets but is welcome none the less.. Even the new blasters were kind of fun. I would still rather have had some different imperials than the Royal Guards but overall it's a nice little set minifig wise.
  11. Very nice - but how about a bit of "Blood on the Sand" - a little claret would spice things up a bit methinks.
  12. I think we've seen pretty much all the regular sets, although it may well be that there might be a castley UCS/D2C set announced at some stage this year (perhaps for the Hobbit line rather than regular Castle)
  13. Well there don't seem to be any new Castle sets directly continuing the 2013 series shown at the London toy fair according to reports. There are 3 Duplo castle sets and a Juniors "Knight's Castle" set that seems reasonably substantial at 450+ pieces. Unless we see a big castle D2C set released this year I suspect we will have to wait until 2015 for a new range to be released once all the LOTOR/Hobbit sets are done with for any new "core" castle stuff.
  14. Presumably because they do their market research and know what's going to sell? Remember that a whole new bunch of kids have discovered Star Wars and/or Lego since the last ISD or ATAT came out (ok maybe not since the last snowspeeder). Remember that Lego is a company first and foremost and has to prioritise making a profit that appeals to theri core audience (kids) rather than provide a bunch of obscure characters and sets that only a few AFOLs are holding out for.
  15. I hope those drumsticks are "manflesh"...
  16. It would be absolutely criminal if TLG stopped making Hobbit/LOTR sets without producing Smaug and a Balrog...
  17. I like the little details like Itchy and Scratchy being on TV and the "Property of Ned Flanders" stickers, but I'm not interested enough in the build or the Simpsons to justify the cost of this. Now if they did a Futurama Planet Express on the other hand...
  18. I guess for once it doesn't look like they're going to shortchange you on cannons on the Sea Cow, I guess...
  19. At the moment I've only pencilled in Death Star Troopers and Mos Eisley Cantina (I already have the last versions of the AT AT and ISD). No doubt there will be some Castle/LOTR/Hobbit sets as well once more details become available. I'll pick up Ewok Village for my birthday present - maybe a Sand Crawler if the rumour is true and its a decent set. Possibly the small Lego The Movie Cowboy set as a parts pack and for the nice cowboy torsos. Other than that, a lot depends on what the second half of the year sets look like and what D2C sets are announced.
  20. Nice Work! Maybe update the Scout Trooper to the new (better) version? Also what about the Royal guards? Sandtroopers are also my favourites with their nice pauldron variations and the latest versions are awesome (with the scuffed up armour) so it's a shame not to include them. It could also be extended with Imperial droids.
  21. I'll be getting the Cantina for the Dewback alone. It looks like it will include a new landspeeder which is a waste of parts for me as I have the last one which I quite like (I might up selling that set though if this is demonstrably better). I have the last AT-AT and Star Destroyer, both of which I think do a pretty good job as is (although the Star Destroyer in particular is a bugger to build and stabilise), so I'm not sure if they'll be worth a purchase for a handful of new mini-figs. Nothing else really interests me but I'll check out the Rebels stuff. A new Snow Speeder is rather crazy as there was one released in Battle of Hoth this year. Now I'd just like a system-scale Imperial Shuttle released and I'll over just about all the OT stuff I could want.
  22. That Lego Movie ship is insane...and not necessarilly in a good way...I guess I'll need to see more detailed pictures but I can't help wondering what an awesomely realistic pirate set they could have built with that piece count. I guess Lego realises that there is a market out there for pirate ships which is why we seem to get them almost every year - even if only in the Lord of the Rings or Lego Movie themes.
  23. I saw the Haunted House on sale for $189 at a couple of K-marts in Queensland while on holiday. I was tempted given mum had given me a $100 Coles-Myer voucher useable at Kmart for Xmas ("for a nice shirt" she said), but decided against it in the end due to the difficulty of fitting it in my luggage and getting it home safely (plus I still have Orthanc to build).
  24. To be fair you should do one for the English team as well - you'ld just need a few of those faces with tears or scared looks, plus a couple of suitcases for those who've already gone home early...
