There are BURPs in this Wave, some of the face prints are just as silly as anything in the 2009 wave (cook and pirate captain anyone?) and every figure in 2009 had back printing. If anything I would say they're actually pretty compatible. You could even argue a few things went backwards (no gold coins, for instance). I’ve put sets from both waves side by side and they both look ok together so if you’re a priate fan you can’t go wrong with sets from either (or both) waves IMO.

(2015) May The 4th Be With You Offers - Discussion thread!
TeufelHund replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've purchased from the AU shop before from this promotion and even buying non-SW stuff I got the bonus figure and poster, so don't worry - they will be available. I usually sold the figures online for about $20 as part of my "discount" - however this year there's nothing I want to buy but I actually want the figure for a change! -

What's the big deal? I see this crap at different places all the time and unless you only glance at it it's obvious it's not genuine Coke. I think we forget sometimes that Lego is a premium product and not everyone can afford it, which is why there is a market out there for this stuff. Sure its existence means some poor kids are going to get crappy quality stuff given to them by ignorant parents from time to time but as an AFOL I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. -

Scored a $100 ISD from BigW today despite the place being completed gutted the moment the dropzone sales started and the staff claiming that everything was on the floor. Just goes to show with regard to BigW pay no heed to anything the staff say regarding stock levels. Now I just have to work out how to get that awful sealing tape off... -
I'm surprised Loot Island is so unfavoured compared to Treasure Island. A unique baseplate, real gold coins, a cool marooned pirate and it still lucks out to a solitary nice female pirate it seems. I had them both together last night and still found Loot Island more aesthetically pleasing. The good thing though is that the minfigs from both the 2009 and 2015 Pirates are completely compatible with each other in terms of detailing and appearance. I happily arranged a motley crew together on my desk yesterday and finally feel I have enough diversity to give the appearance of a genuine Pirate Crew.

Looking at the Pirate minifigs in this set something just occurred to me - do you think the cabin boy realises he'll have to pluck one of his own eyes out before he graduates to full pirate status as per the rest of the crew?

Yeah - I as looking at the $34 version and trying to work out why anyone would pay $9 extra for the same thing but without the minfigs. I can only speculate that it's supposed to be a limited promotional thing - but the $9 difference is still baffling. -

Saw one Pirates set at Target today (Soldier's Fort). Went there + Toys R Us, Kmart & Myer but no one had Brainiac Attack...:-( -
A while back I went for the QAR over Brickbeard's Bounty and had a ball building that. Such a delightfully gruesome looking ship whereas both Bounties are just a bit too bland in comparison for my taste. I could have got the Imperial Flagship at a decent price too but decided I was more interested in Pirate ships than grand Navy ships so passed.I also passed on the LOTR ship and the Black Pearl a I felt the attraction of both was purely the minifigs. I like the addition of the plank and the Ship's Cook mini, but there's not really much else of interest going on with this set.

Does your source tell us which retailer is getting Brainiac Attack? I owe this one to me oldest son as it was on his wishlist for his birthday so I had to give him an IOU. -

Saw a lot of the new Ninjago sets this afternoon at Big W - still no sand baseplates though! -

I think we may see a double VIP points promo in mid-March. I'm pretty sure we usually get two a year (March + October). -

I'm looking for sand baseplates - I saw a bunch of the new green ones at BIG W today ($10 each) but still no sand ones yet. -
Jokerland is definitely going to look good with my funhouse. My sons and I are in love with it already. I'm a fairly casual Batman fan so I have no idea of who some of the Teen Titans figures are but the colourful build and play features make this a must buy for me.

I've been waiting for a system version for years but was hoping for a Shuttle with Imperials over Rebel Scum but will admit the figures provided are nice and will add some variety to my existing troupe of Endor Rebels. The Final Duel is a nice looking set, but I already have several versions of all the figs so can't see myself buying this one. No interest in Episode I so some money saved there - thanks TLG!
-
The UCS Slave I definitely looks better than the last system version (although whether a Bespin Guard and a Stormie are superior to Bossk is debatable), but I can't really justify buying it as I'm happy with the system version. This however, IMO, looks worse than the last system version which had a great selection of minifigs which would enhance any Imperial installation. I guess I'll be holding out to see Echo Base to see if I purchase any UCS sets this year...

Picked up one of these to tide me over until the full range comes out - I have to say it's a great little set. Not only do you get a unique pirate torso and a black chest but also a new treasure map which is nice. I also got my first shark which was appreciated. The base and the big wallpiece are also interesting.

I can't say I'm a fan of a set with 13 different doctors in it. One or two different incarnations with a companion or two and some classic bad guys would be perfect. While I've enjoyed Capaldi as the Doctor the scripts and stories have been pretty awful lately so I hope the set embraces classic Who rather than the current series.

With Chima ending up this year it would be great if TLG's next big marketing splash was some kind of castle/fantasy setting. That would mean a long term plan and a big variety of sets/minifigs. While more civilian sets would be nice, they tend not to be big sellers. Mill Village Raid hung around for a long time at retail for example. My sons get much more fun from putting minifigs into prisons than they do pretending to herd pigs, for instance.
-
I like both Playmobil and Lego Pirates, although I was in my Dark Ages for both when they were released originally. My eldest son has tons of the newer Playmobil Pirates and they're quite nice.
-
The Final Duel looks ok but given I have the Death Star + 6 Royal Guards from various sets + a few different Emperors and Vaders and Luke from the EV I can't see myself getting it. I don't have an Imperial Shuttle but I would rather have one with an Imperial crew than a bunch of Rebel scum. Good marketing from TLG I guess - if you want to do a Vader/Emperor arrival scene you will have to buy both sets.

Has anyone seen the Pirates Junior set or any sand baseplates out in the wild - I've been planning a Cannibal Cookout MOC but have been waiting for those before I start? -

I got the Series 13 I wanted from Big W on the weekend. Took my half an hour or so of groping but in the end I got the ones I wanted. The Fencer was probably the hardest, the Wizard the easiest, of the ones I was looking for. -
The new bandana looks more like a helmet than a piece of cloth - however it will at least allow for a bit of variety amongst a scurvy crew of salty dogs so it's not all bad.
