  1. Better to pick it off the floor than out of someone's bum crack... A few black skeletons and some fire pieces would have added playability and been a cheap way to include Aunt Beru.
  2. I'm loving the minifigs in the new ISD but I have to admit I prefer the look of my old 2006 version. I guess I'll wait for a full review (not that I can afford to buy a lot of Lego at the moment anyway) before making my mind up.
  3. My favourite bit is the Walker about to trip over the tumbling logs. This MOC reminded me though how useless Stormtrooper armour is - not only does it fail to deflect blaster bolts but it does nothing against sticks or stones either!
  4. It's a nice enough set but I'm not really enough of a Ghostbusters fan to get it. I do wonder though why they didn't include a Ghost figure...you would have thought it would be a no-brainer because at the moment you've got 4 ghostbusters all dressed up and nothing to catch...
  5. Just sweep the half-finished build off the table when you ravish her on top of it and then she'll have to come back again to help you put it back together...
  6. I read a lot of the entries on Rebrick and I can't think of any off the top of my head that were less imaginative or interesting than this...I understand Lego is a kid's toy but I'm not inspired to sail the high seas at all in something called this. No disrespect to the winner who can't help what the judges went for but this is just lame.
  7. http://au.ign.com/articles/2014/04/08/10-lego-sets-that-rocked-our-world Not a terrible list, although everyone's would be different of course.
  8. Well we haven't exactly been short on pirate ships since 2009 - Imperial Flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, The Black Pearl, The LOTOR Pirate Ship, The Sea Cow, some Spongebob Squarepants thingy and even a Duplo Ship. It's pretty clear that Lego's strategy seems to revolve around producing at least one pirate ship a year no matter whether there is an actual Pirate's theme to support it (I guess they usually sell well).
  9. I like that TLG seem to be abandoning the policy of having minfigs/vehicles from two different factions in sets so that kiddies will be able to have them "fight" each other, although I'll admit the new AT AT looks a bit plain compared to the last which at least managed to include a small Rebel gun emplacement with considerably less pieces for the ATAT to trample on. The New Star Destroyer looks cool but the real highlight for me is the nice variety of Imperial troops included. I have the 2006 ISD which I admit to liking the look of more than this one but the minfig assortment with this one is great.
  10. http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/213019203715/Adult-Fans-of-Lego-The-Feed A basic introduction to the world of AFOLs. Not much news if you're a fan but the sheer amount of Lego the guy featured in it has is scary. Good to see he's a fan of the Kingdom's Joust too!
  11. It's not Lego...but I guess you take what you can get during a Zombie Apocalypse...
  12. Nice - this may be the first May 4th figure that I don't E-bay as part of my "discount" for buying from Shop@Home.
  13. I like it although the bright green and the flowers make it look a bit too bright to look really spooky IMO.
  14. Had a look at my local Kmart but no HH - every other MF set though was still in stock apart form the Zombie set that was Big W exclusive. Given that these are now discontinued it's probably time to get moving if you still want them (they are a great souce for parts and figures IMO),
  15. Ralph just for his printed "Cho...cho...choose me tile" and Mr Burns are my favourites. Too bad Smithers didn't make the cut.
  16. Good luck with your MOC - although I thought that was the dumbest sequence in the movie: "Hey guys we have to deal with a dragon - what can we do?" "I know let's forge a gigantic statue out of molten gold, which despite being made out of a liquid, will somehow hold it's consistency just long enough for a curious dragon to get close enough to be completely covered with it when it finally gives way and splashes everywhere." "Brilliant!" I'm no script writer but surely someone must have realised that was a dumb idea before they filmed it?
  17. I'd like to see the scene from the first film where the Nazis open the Arc - imagine the reverse heads you'ld get on some of the bad guys! The actual scene has far too many swastikas in it though I guess for Lego...sigh.
  18. Not actually any news on the new sets but nice anyway:
  19. Given that in most of the non-US markets piece counts are not visible on Lego boxes I would suggest that the reason multiple smaller parts are used instead of a single larger part is not due to a desire by TLG to artificially pump up part counts.
  20. That would be my choice - I had a chance to pick this up during my Dark Ages but decided against it as I was about to move countries. Would love to get my hands on an updated version. Even a minifig scale Imperial Shuttle would be good.
  21. To be fair the Sand Crawler was never the most attractive vehicle, and they've probably done the best they could within the number of parts assigned to the designers. I guess the minfig range is ok if you are into jawas and/or droids. I'm not. Given they want US customers to pay $299 I can only assume this is going to be well over $400 in Aussie dollars. A definite miss for me.
  22. From my perspective this looks like a disappointing, albeit cheap, year as far as Lego goes unless they pull some amazing D2C sets out of the hat. There's just not much that interests me to be honest. I mainly collect Castle, LOTR, Pirates and OT Star Wars. Most of the SW OT sets this year are just repeats of sets I already have and don't feel the need to replace. There are no new Castle or Pirates sets and the Hobbit sets due out are still an unknown quantity. The Lego Movie sets look a bit left of field but as the movie hasn't been released here yet I can't judge whether or not I will feel compelled to buy a few yet. Overall, I'm looking forward to saving some money on Lego at this stage for once!
  23. Great stuff - Would have been even better if Han's pant's were missing...
  24. Tried the demo and it was a little chaotic (you're constantly swamped by goblins) and some of the "double-up" teamwork options seem a bit clunky, particularly with two players. It's definitely more complex than the DC/Marvel games. Not necessarilly a bad thing but something to take into account if you're planning on playing with younger kids.
  25. Where are the 480 pieces? It looks like a bunch of big panels to me...and only two measly minifigs...Lego shame on you. I'm still hopeful we'll get a Castle UCS set announced at some stage this year but I won't hold my breath.
