  1. Hello again everyone I hope everyone is safe and well. This time 3 models based on/modified from the original LEGO Star Wars Video game way back in 2005 (I think!). these models have been knocking around for a while so i am posting them now for completeness sake. They are basically "tarting up" the basic models from the game. NUBIAN ROYAL STARSHIP Firstly, the The J-type 327 Nubian Royal Starship (also known as the Naboo Royal Starship) from Ep. I was a starship used by Queen Amidala, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, during the Invasion of Naboo. Here is the model from the video game: This was too big for my tastes so I shortened and narrowed the design.I also completely redesigned the cockpit/bridge section and changed the engines. It is still a bit big (I have been tinkering with plates to replace the nose but not happy with any combination yet) but I really like how this looks with the Queen Amidala figure. WOOKIEE CATAMARAN Secondly, The Wookiee Catamaran (from Ep. III), The Oevvaor jet catamaran was a dual-purpose airspeeder that saw heavy use in the Battle of Kashyyyk. Here is the model from the video game: Not a major overhaul on this one. Colour scheme, some added panels and a bit more detail on the engine s. FIRESPEEDER Lastly, (again from EP. III) The emergency firespeeder, also known simply as a fireship, was a designated fire suppression speeder and thus was designed to transport large amounts of water and other fire-retardant agents to douse flaming structures and vessels. Here is the model from the video game: This was really just adding more detail to the model. Changing the cockpit, adding the emergency lights and changing the fire hoses. I have also built a Firespeeder pilot minifigure out of official parts. More original models soon Jon
  2. Thanks guys. People can say whatever they want about the prequels but they have to admit there are some lovely designs.
  3. NEW MODELS WILL APPEAR IN THE REPLIES TO THIS THREAD Models now included in this thread: 1. Gungan Bongo 2. Sith Infiltrator 3. Nubian Royal Starship 4. Wookiee Catamaran 5. Firespeeder 6. Porax-38 (P-38) Starfighter 7. Homing Spider Droid 8. Hardcell Transport 9. Lucrehulk-Class Battleship 10. C-9979 Landing Craft 11. Droid Tri-Fighter 12. Geonosian Starfighter 13. Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery (SPHA-T) (NEW) Hello again everyone I hope everyone is safe and well. It is time to open up another thread with MINIs from the neglected prequels. GUNGAN BONGO First up, the Gungan Tribubble Bongo from Ep. I. I had the model from the original LEGO Star Wars video game in my collection for a long time: I had been meaning to build one myself for a while as this just looked so big on the stand next to Jar-Jar! The lockdown gave me the time and the opportunity. I decided to use the 2x2 transparent domes (astromech head) for the bubbles. I have seen a lot of models use transparent dishes but they just look too flat in my opinion. In essence, for the most part, this is a scaled down version of the model above with some newer parts. There are no clever techniques or anything like that but it looks quite striking on the stand with the Jar Jar minigifure and adds some colour to the collection. SITH INFILTRATOR Secondly, The Scimitar (again from Ep. I), also known as the Sith Infiltrator, which was a heavily modified Star Courier and the personal starship of Darth Maul. Like the Bongo I had previously had a LEGO version in my collection, a modified version of the Microfighter convention model from years ago. Again, this just looked big on the stand so with time on my hands I built my own. The nose section is not built using the normal wedge plates technique as there is not the correct size or gradient for this scale (nose is 4 studs wide). Instead I have used the 1x4 plate with offset and 1x8 tiles to create the dagger shape. A 1x3 plate holds the nose construction in shape towards the nose. There is also a 1x1 round plate with hole on a jumper plate underneath the 1x6 dark grey tile holding that in place. Apart from that no clever techniques really. The bottom dish is held there by the stud on a technic half pin which is in the holes from the round plates. And yes, I know the top dish is cracked (it is old) if you have spotted that. I have tried to hide this with the colour picker function in paint – I will have to order another from bricklink. I love how this one looks on display with Darth Maul and his probe droid. Let me know what you think. More soon. Jon
  4. Thanks. I am sure I saw a MF scale in another thread - “Wookie stands out in the crowd” or something like that. Maybe it was not true MF scale for your tastes.
  5. DN-25 TREADABLE Hello again everyone This time we go back to Episode IX with the Treadable. The DN-25 treadable was a model of treadable developed by Pasaana Kitha-Garra-du on the planet Pasaana. Kalo'ne drove a DN-25 treadable across Pasaana's desert terrain during the Festival of the Ancestors in 35 ABY. Kal’one was flinty and age-worn after decades of treadable driving and was most comfortable in her driving cabin with her serpentine body wrapped around the steering column. This was quite a tricky one to build as it needed two separate treads and went through a few different approaches. Eventually I went for the version you see here. Earlier versions were too thin (only had one tread) or became way too big. The key to the build is wrapping those tread links around the 4x4 round plates at both ends of the model. Earlier versions I overcomplicated the build and had all the plates going the same way. Eventually I had a eureka moment that I could actually build two almost identical sides and join them back to back with technic axles! So that is what I did! I also quite like the little simple things on the model like the chain for the “washing line” and the little bulbs. I have also built a Kal’one minifigure out of bricks and a transfer for her face. Let me know what you think. Jon
  6. my bad, I was not aware of them then when it was built. I was not buying sets at that time. I am more aware of new parts now as my 7 year-old monster loves his LEGO. Either way it is an old model!
  7. @BEAVeRMany thanks for the kind words. Yes, I try not to compromise too much and get as much detail in as possible. Usually a few parts (or part) drive the shape of the model but I do try and avoid gimmicks and using a certain part just for the sake of it. Sometimes I do get a eureka moment with a certain part(s) like the nose of the Y-Wing but as you say it needs to fit the source material. One thing I have been doing more recently is to have schematics of the source material on the computer screen where possible and try and match the silhouette from all angles with any prototype I am building. These models were updates of older models so I was not looking to rebuild too much. I would love to see your critique of the newer models in the other threads from Resistance, Rebels, The Mandalorian and the movies! Just search my username - you would probably get sore fingers typing. Addressing your points: I initialliy had that part but felt it did not leave a big enough gap so I went with the door rail. Matter of taste I suppose. This was one of those small compomises that you need to make building in such a small scale. The slope does both jobs so to speak. I cannot move it forward with the current construction as it would effect how other parts are held together. there is a 1 x2 brick with studs on sides in there which attaches to the headlight bricks at the front. I will get one of those jewel pieces out of my sons collection and see how it looks. I think it would stick out further though. Those slopes would just make the tiny gap at the back where the engines are attached by brackets look wider I think. I will see how it looks. The grey tile was just for a bit of contrast and to show the vent more clearly which is in the source. This was the one I did almost completely rebuild and I did start tiling it all in at first. It just seemed too thick afterwards and made the head on the right appear too small- I didn't want to raise that another stud. Any feedback is appreciated and with lockdown I have plenty of models at least in the prototype stage.
  8. Many thanks - I always loved the Clone Wars. if you want to see more search for my name on the boards and there are plaenty of other threads for the movies, Rebels, Resistance etc. thanks again - I am always trying to find different techniques to build things/solve problems.
  9. New models will appear in the replies to this thread so keep an eye out! Models in this thread: 1. TWILIGHT 2. TRIDENT 3. BTL-B Y WING STARFIGHTER 4. HYENA DROID BOMBER 5. ARQUITENS-CLASS LIGHT CRUISER 6. CK-6 SWOOP "FREECO BIKE" 7. T-6 JEDI SHUTTLE 8. H-2 EXECUTIVE SHUTTLE 9. RX-200 ASSAULT "STUN" TANK 10. TURTLE TANKER (NEW) Hello again everyone After re-watching some of this prior to watching the new series I decided to go back and update some of my old Clone Wars models from a while back which were originally posted on the From Bricks to Bothans (FBTB) board. As I said these are not new models but have been updated for new parts which were not around when these were first built. The original versions of these were built way before the Planets Series so I have also had to buy the figures. The old versions can be found here (with some very bad and grainy photography!): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=140779 TWILIGHT First up we have the Twilight - The Twilight was a Corellian G9 Rigger-class light freighter owned and operated by the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars. Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, used the ship to escape from a battle on Teth. The original version was grey and sand blue but I decided to ditch the sand blue tints. I also updated the top cannon as the 1x1 brackets were not available when this was first built – just the neck bracket piece. I also wish they would bring the old fingered hinge plates back as I still have old grey ones for the bottom wing as they are the only piece that work so it can fold up properly. These are now rare but are very useful for mini builds as you do not have to add an extra layer of plates for imperial shuttle/Skyhopper (hint) wings for example. It shows my age that luckily I have a few of these lying around! TRIDENT Next up the Trident - the Trident-class assault ship, also known as the Trident assault ship, was a model of aquatic gunship manufactured by the Colicoid Creation Nest. They were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. This one is so old the cheese slopes were not available when it was first built so I have used the cheese slopes to update the head to give it a more rounded appearance – previously this had a jumper plate and a tile where the cheese slopes are. I have also updated the “limbs” with the 1 x2 plates with handles and clips, replacing the old finger hinge plates and also added the tooth pieces and added the round tile for the cockpit. Those cone pieces are still not both available in normal red though so dark red it has to be! Meh. BTL-B Y-WING STARFIGHTER Thirdly we have the Republic version of the Y-Wing Starfighter. The BTL-B Y-wing starfighter was an assault starfighter/bomber that flew combat missions for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. This did not have a major overall – mainly new white pieces as the old ones had yellowed. I have added some of those curved 1 x2 slopes which weren’t around and a couple of the round plate with a bar which are very useful for cannons on minis! The shape of the nose has been built using the horizontal hinge plates instead of wedges so that is only 3 studs wide. HYENA DROID BOMBER Lastly, for this post, the Hyena Droid Bomber - the vulture droids big brother. These were droid starfighters manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop. They were designed for heavy ordnance bombing runs. Based on vulture droid designs, Hyena bombers had wider and sturdier hulls with huge wings to gain stability during flight. This one had the most drastic rebuild as I rebuilt the centre section completely. Instead of the 1x2 slopes with grilles I have used the new 1x2 curved slopes for the heads both on top and underneath. I also made the centre section a stud wider. Let me know what you think. More soon. Jon
  10. Hello again everyone A quick update today – 2 mods of official LEGO models which I have uploaded for completeness. Both of these have been built a while but I don’t think I have published them before. Plenty of NEW models in the pipeline for all eras - LOCKDOWN! Jon A-WING Firstly, a mod of the official A-Wing polybag. I thought parts of this build were lazy and also with the parts and build used this was actually not far off being a very nice little model. I needed a few extra parts, not many. The laziest part for me was the guns. Why not just add a couple of clip plates so they are actually on the “A”? I also replaced the antenna pieces used for the guns with those flick missile pieces. I also changed the part on the engines and added some white slopes to the fuselage. SUPER STAR DESTROYER This is a mod of the little model which came with the UCS Death Star II. I increased the length by a couple of studs and replace the plates with tiles. I am not sure why tiles weren’t used in the UCS model as it looks so much smoother! I also replaced the binoculars used for the bridge with a clip tile. I have been meaning to build my own SSD for a while so that is now on my to-do-list.
  11. Thanks very much. @martinsuper - glad to see you have built it. I didn't realise the Ghost was so big compared to the Razor Crest1
  12. No, I just build the MINIs. We don't have a lot of space to display etc now the little monster is becoming a larger monster! The missus is also not a LEGO fan so I am always fighting that battle regarding shelves etc! It's easy to keep little models relatively dust free inside a display cabinet. I have been busy though - I have got quite a few prototypes buillt but I am trying to bulk order pieces for a few models at a time to reduce deliveries for obvious reasons.
  13. And there I was hoping for a micro of Ackbar's flagship! Having attempted this many moons ago it is a tough one. Maybe i will revisit that one. Anyway its a very nice looking little model and the idea of miniaturised sets has reminded me of something I have been meaning to do for a long time but never got round to which might be something you could look at - "Bounty Hunter Pursuit" from Ep.II. (complete with power couplings.....).
  14. There are more built and WIP - I need some more display stands/plinths!
  15. Thanks again. I have had a similar request before for all the models so here are some of the collection in the display cabinets - I am running out of space now my son has commandeered a couple of shelves for his Hidden Side sets! Grrrrrrrrrrr.! These are not all mine, some are official polybags, some are other builders creations which I did not think I could better.
  16. The thing is with Rebels if you stuck with it after the first series (which was a bit kiddie) you got a massive pay off in the last 2 series - excellent story telling and like Clone Wars was not scared to go to some dark places. Having watched Resistance to the end with my son I can safely say (apart from the finale) that that is not the case with that series. As you say though there were some nice ships to build!
  17. Thanks. the planets sets were great. They could have done without the actual planets though and lowered the price which might have made them more successful.
  18. Thanks guys. These models are actually a year or two old I was just putting them all together in one place as I found some of the Picture links in the old threads Had broken. Same with the other threads that have appeared on the board for Rogue One etc. I do have a new one from Rebels as a WIP so there will be something new in this thread soon and it makes it easier to find if I update anything. Rebels was so much better than Resistance!
  19. TIE/rb HEAVY STARFIGHTER Hi again everyone A quick model this time round. This is the new Tie variant from Solo The TIE/rb heavy starfighter, also known as the heavy TIE fighter. There is nothing fancy or earth shattering technique wise in this model. It is a just tie with a gun turret after all! The model is held together with bars. I also decided to use the 3x3 dishes for the ball. I built this while tinkering around with a couple of other models I am close to finishing and for completeness I suppose. Can you have too many TIEs? Jon Edited October 15, 2018 by obijon AT-HAULER Hello again everyone This time I present a MOD rather than a full MOC – a mod of the 30498 AT-Hauler polybag which I tinkered with over the Christmas break. I quite liked the overall design and construction of this but there were a few things that I felt needed changing: · Changed it from white to grey. Think grey is better fitting for a cargo vessel and for most vessels in Star Wars. · Added the gantry underneath. A simple addition with 4 extra parts which I am surprised were not included in the original. · Beefed up the lifting arms as they looked too thin. · The big one – the cockpit. This is what made me want to MOD the polybag in the first place. The use of the slope in the polybag is a bit lazy so I have built this using bricks with studs on the side and wedge plates. · And like all my other models a display stand with Rio Durant minifig. More new and original stuff soon. Jon Edited January 8, 2019 by obijon KESSEL RUN MILLENNIUM FALCOM Hi again everyone To celebrate the recent release of Solo (i must admit I have not seen it yet) I decided to build a Millennium Falcon in its honour. I decided to base it on the MINI model which came with the Lego Star Wars magazine: But in true Lando fashion I decided to pimp his ride back to the state it was in before Han got his grubby mits on her. The original model is a nice size for a mini with the saucer section six studs wide. 8 studs and you start getting a much larger model. I have changed it to white with blue, changed the radar dish to be flat, changed the gun and added the cargo pod at the front as well as a few other changes which add a bit more shape to the back section. FIRST LIGHT YACHT This time I present a vessel from the latest star wars movie, Dryden Vos' luxury yacht the First Light. I have not seen the movie yet but have found some good reference pictures, My first attempt at building this involved slopes but to get all the detail on the outside it just became too thick. I eventually decided on using wedge plates but I needed to have studs on both sides of the model so as not make the body of the ship too thick. I also needed a third layer in between (gold) for the elevator shaft which runs up the entire front of the ship. This was solved by attaching the top of the two sides made of wedges with a clip plate which holds the top section and the bottom half of the model is clamped together using two brackets and a plate connecting the two which is the engine section. There are also interlocking plates on both sets of wedges to stop the model sliding apart. Using this method allows the gold parts and other details to be added to both sides and be symmetrical. The black and pearl gold colour combination also looks pretty striking. There is also no official Dryden Vos minifigure so I have again built my own only from official parts. I like the use of the gold claws for the dagger. ;-) Anyway enough of the waffling here is the model. Hope you like it and let me know what you think. Jon and the Dryden Vos figure. M-68 LANDSPEEDER Hello again everyone This time I present my last (I can’t think of anything else to build?) model from Solo – Han’s Landspeeder. Han Solo acquired his overpowered Mobquet M-68 Landspeeder under circumstances he doesn’t care to explain. ? The M-68 is a favorite of Corellian speeder enthusiasts, as its repulsorlift generator is easily modified and overcharged. This was quite a tricky little build to keep the overall shape and sleekness in this scale. It is supposed to resemble a sports car after all. The first problem I came across was the windshield. 1x1 clear cheese slopes looked too small and the 1x2 panel was just too upright and looked terrible. In the end I managed to use some slopes which have been turned on their ends. They are attached using bricks with a stud on the side and a tile on the studs of the slopes. Luckily it fits perfectly in the space for them. Another part was the “spoiler” at the back. Luckily those new 1x1 brackets came in dark blue! Then the engines. I went through a few different versions before finally using this: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=11458&C=63#T=C&C=63 These pieces are then attached using 2 headlight bricks in the main body of the model and then attaching another 2 to these to be able to attach the above piece. Anyway, I think this model looks pretty good if I do say so myself, nice and sleek! Hope you like it. Jon A-A4B TRUCKSPEEDER Hello again everyone This time I present another model from Solo - Moloch’s speeder. This model is an A-A4B landspeeder. The Baja desert-racing trophy trucks along with their powerful suspensions and engines were an early source of inspiration for this truckspeeder. This isn’t the most exciting vehicle ever in the Star Wars Universe so therefore the model is not the most exciting but it does look like what it is supposed to! I have managed to include most if not all of the features including the pen for the hounds by using a panel piece and vertical clip plates for the bars. As ever I have included a display stand this time with the Moloch minifigure which looks pretty cool together. Let me know what you think. Jon IMPERIAL ARRESTOR CRUISER The Imperial Arrestor Cruiser first appeared in the Star Wars canon in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, barely visible in an Imperial recruitment film. However, in the script for Solo, the Millennium Falcon was at one point to be captured by a tractor beam ship, which was developed into the Arrestor Cruiser. However, this full appearance in the film was eventually cut but can be seen in a deleted scene where Han crashes his Tie Fighter. A scene I wish they had kept in. Colin Cantwell originally pitched the design of what would become the Imperial Arrestor Cruiser directly to George Lucas, for use in the 1977 movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, although it was ultimately discarded in favor of the Star Destroyer. I built this model fairly quickly, again in between finishing other models. It is a fairly simple design with the only complicated part the “nose”. It needed to be slightly tapered and bricks would just not cut it. I have attached this using clip tiles and handle plates to attach the side tiles. I have also then used door rail plates to close the gap at the front. Anyway, here is the model. Jon
  20. RESISTANCE BOMBER Hi everyone With Ep. VIII only just over 2 months away and I am getting rather excited for the release I thought I would build something from the movie! ;-) There are quite a few good shots of this in the teaser trailer, some die-cast models and of course the System scale model to get some good reference pictures. The trickiest part was getting the engines in place with the bottom fin. I ended up using a 5L technic lift arm as I could attach this to two bricks with studs on the sides to hold it in place. I also think this ship is ripe for a future polybag so I thought I would get in first! ;-) Here it is, let me know what you think. TIE SILENCER HI again everyone This time I present the new Tie from TLJ - the Tie Silencer as flown by Solo Jr. The main problem with this ship was the long thin panels. At first I used a clever technique with horizontal hinges and an upside down 2x4 wedge plate but the panels ended up being too close together (as the straight edge of the wedge plate is lower than the tile in the pictures below). I then moved the attachment of the wings further apart for the top and bottom but that just made the whole model look too tall. Not to mention that the wings looked too thick. In the end I admitted defeat and just used 2x4 wedges for the front of the panels. Hint to LEGO - can we have some 2x6 wedge plates please! ;-) Anyway the final model looks pretty sleak and streamlined and looks pretty cool (i think anyway!) all in black. Let me know what you think. Any comments welcome. Jon Jon MANDATOR-IV SIEGE DREADNOUGHT Hi all I have tinkered a little bit with this model. Not a huge amount but it does look a lot better in my opinion. I have removed the 1x1 round plates which acted as the turrets and added some tiles on the surface to give the effect of the seam. This leaves 26 whole studs visible on the surface, and apparently according to wikipedia there are 26 surface turrets on these monsters. Good enough for me! I have also changed the front slightly so I could taper off the wedge plates using 2x4s all the way back for the bottom part. There were 2x3s at the back previously. All in all it looks cleaner. Completely new models soon. Jon LIBERTINE SPACE YACHT Hi again everyone This week I present another new model from EP. VIII, the yacht stolen by DJ, the Libertine. This model has turned out to be quite an expensive little model with various bricklink orders for rebuilds, rare parts (looking at you those white tree palm pieces in particular) and the DJ figure. I have tried to keep this as sleak as possible and I think it looks quite cool. It helps when the source material looks good to begin with and it was certainly nice to build something in a colour other than grey! To keep the sleak look there are a few hidden technic bricks and bricks with studs on the sides inside the build to hold it all together so the model does not become too tall. The engines and front pylons are all held together with umbrella stand pieces. It is also studless to give the sleak look. I am really happy with how this little model has turned out. I spent longer on this one than I normally would as I really liked the source material. and finally on display planets style with DJ carrying his reward for selling out our heroes. Let me know what you think. Jon CANTO BIGHT POLICE SPEEDER Hi again all With my latest offering i go back to TLJ with the Canto Bight Police Speeder (Zephyr GB-134 speeder to be precise! ). This is quite a tricky little build to get all the detail in. The whole thing is built along an umbrella stand with parts clipped on. The side panels are attached to the umbrella stand using those very useful 1x1 round plates with open stud. And for this model a first for me, a custom minifigure made with all official parts. I would guess sooner or later a sysytem set of this might appear so he will then get replaced. Let me know what you think. Jon and on display planets style. Edited August 28, 2018 by obijon SKI SPEEDER Hello again everyone This time I am going back to The Last Jedi with this new little model. I present The V-4X-D ski speeder, also known as the Resistance ski speeder seen in the Battle Of Krait. I have tinkered around with this little model for a while. You would think it would be quite an easy build but to get the dimensions etc "correct" took a couple of tricks. The cockpit has been built using bricks with studs in the side and is attached to the main body using 1x1 clip tiles. The gun on the other side has had to be attached using hinge plates to get a piece that is 5 studs long otherwise the wings become too thick. My favourite part of this little model is the rear section and the rudder. The steering wheel with the T-bar and 2 clip plates attached do the job perfectly I think. In fact this was the first part I built and the rest of the model and scale was determined by this section. Anyway let me know what you think. Jon Edited November 5, 2018 by obijon XI-CLASS SHUTTLE Hello again everyone I thought as this was another simple model like the Ski Speeder I would post this in the same thread. The Xi-Class shuttle is the shuttle Rose, Finn and BB-8 use to escape the Supremacy. The trickiest part of the build was attaching the wings to the tiny fuselage without making the wings too thick or flimsy and also being able to attach the engines. Lots of interjoined tiles and plates did the trick - each wing has 12 parts. Anyway let me know what you think about this one and the ski speeder. A bigger ship from Ep. VIII is coming soon, maybe not next though! Jon RADDUS MC85 CRUISER HI again everyone The final bricklink order I needed has arrived and as hinted at in the Profundity topic here is the Raddus from The Last Jedi. I actually started building this before the Profundity but with all the tinkering and rebuilds it has taken longer. As with most of my builds a certain piece defines the build and it is then built form there. For the Raddus it was the wedge for the nose (as discussed in the Profundity topic). The piece does not come in light bluish or dark bluish grey, so I have used flat silver. It works fine so no major problem. From the front I have used wedges and slopes to create the main section of the hull with the main section being 4 studs wide tapering back to 2 studs wide before the engine section using the 10x1 curved slopes. These slopes have been attached using headlight bricks through the middle of the model so the model is not wider than the wedge at the front. I have also managed to build the engine cluster at the back and have used 1x1 trans-blue plates for the hangar on either side near the front. The model flows quite nicely from front to back but as with most Mon Calamari vessels it is very difficult to get the curved shape completely right with LEGO, especially in such a small scale. I am not 100% happy with this model but I think I have got most of the details in and I am not sure what else I could change without losing the overall feel. Compromises have to be made in this scale after all. I also think the Vice Admiral Holdo figure looks cool next to the finished model. Let me know what you think and Merry Christmas to all! Jon NINKA BUNKERBUSTER Hello again everyone Finally, the house is decorated and I have managed to dig out my LEGO from storage and finish this little model – the Ninka which is one of the capital ships chased down by the First Order in The Last Jedi. The Ninka is a Free Virgillia-class Bunkerbuster. There were a couple of tricky parts to this model. Firstly how to attach the front side sections and to get the shape. I settled with the 1x1 round plates without a stud and a couple of grey bars to attach the side parts into some bricks with holes. Secondly the engine section. There should be six engines on each side but it took me a while to arrange the parts in such a way so that I could have six engines and keep the shape and most importantly be able to attach them to the main hull! The first couple of versions only had 3 engines and while this looked good was not accurate. I am really pleased with how this model turned out. The few orange parts really make it look cool in my opinion. Anyway here is the model and let me know what you think. More MINIs soon. Jon
  21. EREVANA Hi again everyone Here is Han's new ship from Ep. VII the Eravana. I have been working on this model for quite some time. It was quite a tricky build, especially the lattice cargo section, but every ship is there to at least be attempted in LEGO is it not? It is not often in this scale that you get to do a modular build but this little model was built in 3 sections. The front, cargo and engine sections are all separate little builds. Once I decided how the overall model was held together (by click hinges) this idea fell in to place. The engine section was finished pretty quickly and the front section soon followed including opening cargo door and even some cargo and a Micro MF inside if you can spot it? I bowed to popular opinion (of an earlier version) with the colour of the freight and the centre section is also a complete rebuild. It is now built upside down and the top is connected with brackets. This has overall reduced the height of the centre section by a whole brick! I think I was over complicating the first version and once I decided on using the brackets it became much cleaner and simpler. I am now happy with how this turned out. The bridge is a bit large but there is no smaller piece so if anyone has any suggestions. I took a bit of artistic license on the bridge but the location is correct according to the incredible cross sections. I hope you like it. Jon
  22. PROFUNDITY MC75 CRUISER Hi again everyone This time I present a model I have tinkered with a lot - Admiral Raddus' flagship from Rogue One the Profundity. This is another example IMO of a nice ship design from the Disney era being used only once then blown to bits! The build itself has a few transitions from 2 bricks wide at the front to 3 bricks and then back to 2 on the tail to attache the nose section and to get the sleak shape which tapers to the tail. I also tinkered an awful lot with the nose section to get the hangar in. I must have built this section 4 or 5 times but finally settled with using the door rail pieces to mimic the hole as this meant that the nose would not get too thick throwing out the whole shape and feel of the model like some of the other attempts I made. I also attached the engines using clip tiles so the tail would not get too thick. Now to finish building the ship named after the commander of this one.......... Anyway let me know what you think. This “super tanker” can be seen entering Scarif through the shield gate. It is the big brother/sister of the Zeta-Class Cargo shuttle seen earlier in this thread. I also cannot recall seeing any other MOC’s of this monster. This was quite a simple build – it is mostly a flat-bed after all – but the pieces that inspired me was the new 1x2 wedges for the prongs at the front. The only other “tricky” part was making the 8 wings so that they were sloped but not too sloped. I eventually settled on door rail plates at the bottom of each wing to give an illusion of a slope. It is a bit bigger than I would normally like to build but with the front having to be 4 studs wide (difficult to make it 3) it dictated the overall length of the model. My photography is not very good but the orange containers contrasted against the dark-bluish gray is quite striking. Let me know what you think and there will be more MINI madness soon Jon
  23. MINING GUILD TIE FIGHTER Hello again everyone A simple little model this time - the Mining Guild Tie from Star Wars Rebels. I was ill a couple of weeks back and decided to re-watch Rebels as the 20 mins per Episode suited my attention span with the bloody virus! This simple little build was also about as complicated as I could manage the way I was feeling. It is basically just a tie fighter with cut-out solar panels. It does look quite striking in yellow. I have also tried my hand at decals for the Mining Guild Logo on the Tie and torso for the custom minifigure. I also painted the legs of the figure. I don't think I will be trying that again! Jon
