  1. I think so!
  2. thanks guys. It does look very 60s/70s. They would never design anything like it now! ;-)
  3. Hi again everyone The Imperial Arrestor Cruiser first appeared in the Star Wars canon in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, barely visible in an Imperial recruitment film. However, in the script for Solo, the Millennium Falcon was at one point to be captured by a tractor beam ship, which was developed into the Arrestor Cruiser. However, this full appearance in the film was eventually cut but can be seen in a deleted scene where Han crashes his Tie Fighter. A scene I wish they had kept in. Colin Cantwell originally pitched the design of what would become the Imperial Arrestor Cruiser directly to George Lucas, for use in the 1977 movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, although it was ultimately discarded in favor of the Star Destroyer. I built this model fairly quickly, again in between finishing other models. It is a fairly simple design with the only complicated part the “nose”. It needed to be slightly tapered and bricks would just not cut it. I have attached this using clip tiles and handle plates to attach the side tiles. I have also then used door rail plates to close the gap at the front. Anyway, here is the model. Jon
  4. thanks guys. As for the "lighting" that is the arctic enhancement in windows photo editor.
  5. Hello again everybody A quick little model this time Dash Rendar’s Outrider as seen briefly in Ep. IV taking off from Mos Eisley. This was put together very quickly while I had a bit of builders block on another model. I have built this using the same techniques in the magazine gift Millennium Falcon and my version of the Kessel Run Falcon: They are from the same manufacturer after all so it only seems right to build them the same way! Anyway, nothing earth shattering build wise in this model but it does the job! I have also built a custom Dash Rendar minifig using only official parts which is a rarity for me. Hope you like it and more soon. Jon
  6. thanks again
  7. Hello again everyone This time I present another model from Solo - Moloch’s speeder. This model is an A-A4B landspeeder. The Baja desert-racing trophy trucks along with their powerful suspensions and engines were an early source of inspiration for this truckspeeder. This isn’t the most exciting vehicle ever in the Star Wars Universe so therefore the model is not the most exciting but it does look like what it is supposed to! I have managed to include most if not all of the features including the pen for the hounds by using a panel piece and vertical clip plates for the bars. As ever I have included a display stand this time with the Moloch minifigure which looks pretty cool together. Let me know what you think. Jon
  8. ! really like your version of the Virago especially the wings. Very "bug like". It is a bit bigger than I would like to build but I am not sure how it is possible to get it much smaller without losing the details. Was a fan of SoTE back in the day and I think I still have the graphic novel somewhere..........
  9. very nice build. everything is recognisable and looks great as a display piece.
  10. cheers guys.
  11. Hello again everyone This time I present a MOD rather than a full MOC – a mod of the 30498 AT-Hauler polybag which I tinkered with over the Christmas break. I quite liked the overall design and construction of this but there were a few things that I felt needed changing: · Changed it from white to grey. Think grey is better fitting for a cargo vessel and for most vessels in Star Wars. · Added the gantry underneath. A simple addition with 4 extra parts which I am surprised were not included in the original. · Beefed up the lifting arms as they looked too thin. · The big one – the cockpit. This is what made me want to MOD the polybag in the first place. The use of the slope in the polybag is a bit lazy so I have built this using bricks with studs on the side and wedge plates. · And like all my other models a display stand with Rio Durant minifig. More new and original stuff soon. Jon
  12. Or The Supremacy...... ;-)
  13. Thanks again
  14. Star destroyers are also pretty boring in this scale - anyone can build a triangle! And I have built star destroyers - the Dreadnought for example. Sometimes it is about building something you have not built before regardless of difficulty or the source material. That is the challenge. thanks, I think. But a finalizer in this scale would be a much larger model. Maybe the same length but it would also be 20+ studs wide too. Not my style. It would not fit with the rest of my models for a start and I don't have that many pieces. I tend to build small prototypes with whatever pieces I have available (sometimes i "borrow" some of my 6yo's pieces) then bricklink the right pieces and colours. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this a Star Wars forum? I'm member in a different forum using the same software, but with more features activated. You can 'like' a post with the other options 'thanks', 'sad', 'confused' and 'haha'. It's a quick and easy way to give feedback without writing a comment and i often refrain from writing, because i don't want to SPAM too much I have been building and sharing for near 20 years so if this really bothered me i would stop sharing. The thumbs up is a good idea though. In the old days on the FBTB forums a craze started of marks out of 10 in feedback which really did not help. eg 2 out of 10 with no constructive feedback is useless. If you think something is bad say why and how things can be improved. Thanks very much -glad you enjoy them. With regards to a Supremacy in that scale I have neither the bricks nor the space for such a display. The other half moans about the MINIs in my display cabinet already! I could do something with photoshop with this I suppose:
  15. Many thanks guys. You would think that there would be room for micro fighters and planets sets. Aimed at different demographic after all. Sigh.
  16. HI again everyone The final bricklink order I needed has arrived and as hinted at in the Profundity topic here is the Raddus from The Last Jedi. I actually started building this before the Profundity but with all the tinkering and rebuilds it has taken longer. As with most of my builds a certain piece defines the build and it is then built form there. For the Raddus it was the wedge for the nose (as discussed in the Profundity topic). The piece does not come in light bluish or dark bluish grey, so I have used flat silver. It works fine so no major problem. From the front I have used wedges and slopes to create the main section of the hull with the main section being 4 studs wide tapering back to 2 studs wide before the engine section using the 10x1 curved slopes. These slopes have been attached using headlight bricks through the middle of the model so the model is not wider than the wedge at the front. I have also managed to build the engine cluster at the back and have used 1x1 trans-blue plates for the hangar on either side near the front. The model flows quite nicely from front to back but as with most Mon Calamari vessels it is very difficult to get the curved shape completely right with LEGO, especially in such a small scale. I am not 100% happy with this model but I think I have got most of the details in and I am not sure what else I could change without losing the overall feel. Compromises have to be made in this scale after all. I also think the Vice Admiral Holdo figure looks cool next to the finished model. Let me know what you think and Merry Christmas to all! Jon
  17. The whole model would then become incredibly small without being able to add any other details and shape unless you add slopes around those pieces but then the whole model would not flow front to back. A bi-product of the 4 stud width means I could also build the engine cluster at the back. I am hoping to finish the Raddus before Christmas so watch this space. Size is not too much of an issue as the Raddus should be bigger than the Profundity anyway - 3 times bigger! Anyway, plenty of time to discuss the Raddus later in the month - this topic is about the Profundity afer all.
  18. yeah, needs to be pointed. Does not look right with a wedge which is 2 studs wide at the front.
  19. Many thanks for the positive feedback guys. Yes, I try and build them small enough so they do not look too silly on the stands. The models size tends to be driven by certain crucial pieces needed to get the important parts of the build right. For the Profundity for example it was the 1x3 double inverted 45 slope for the main part of the hull and then the models dimensions are built around that. It is obviously harder to keep capital ships to the smaller size - the Raddus I am working on uses the piece below as the nose which then due to it being 4 studs wide leads to a model of over 20 studs long.
  20. Hi again everyone This time I present a model I have tinkered with a lot - Admiral Raddus' flagship from Rogue One the Profundity. This is another example IMO of a nice ship design from the Disney era being used only once then blown to bits! The build itself has a few transitions from 2 bricks wide at the front to 3 bricks and then back to 2 on the tail to attache the nose section and to get the sleak shape which tapers to the tail. I also tinkered an awful lot with the nose section to get the hangar in. I must have built this section 4 or 5 times but finally settled with using the door rail pieces to mimic the hole as this meant that the nose would not get too thick throwing out the whole shape and feel of the model like some of the other attempts I made. I also attached the engines using clip tiles so the tail would not get too thick. Now to finish building the ship named after the commander of this one.......... Anyway let me know what you think. Jon
  21. Not sure exactly. A LOT judging by my brickshelf gallery. A lot of the older ones have been retired or replaced with official models though, http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=obijon
  22. Thanks for the compliments guys. I actually thought I might have lost my touch as the intital post was at the end of last month and only got replies this week. The hinge was a nice bi-product. As I said in the original post this was the only way I could attach this and be 5 studs long without the wing being more than one stud thick. The shuttle cockpit was a case of keeping it as simple as possible. The grey bullion piece just seemed to work perfectly, Don't worry more are in the pipeline, some finished. Don't want to spam the board! ;-) Not sure i have a wide angle lens big enough. The collection also includes official polybags so there are over 100 models. I will see what i can do.....I could just take a picture of the display cabinets I suppose
  23. Xi-Class Light Shuttle Post 2 Hello again everyone I thought as this was another simple model like the Ski Speeder I would post this in the same thread. The Xi-Class shuttle is the shuttle Rose, Finn and BB-8 use to escape the Supremacy. The trickiest part of the build was attaching the wings to the tiny fuselage without making the wings too thick or flimsy and also being able to attach the engines. Lots of interjoined tiles and plates did the trick - each wing has 12 parts. Anyway let me know what you think about this one and the ski speeder. A bigger ship from Ep. VIII is coming soon, maybe not next though! Jon
