  1. NEW MODELS WILL APPEAR IN REPLIES TO THIS THREAD MINIs in this thread: INQUISITOR SCYTHE TRANSPORT JABIIM FREIGHTER TRI WING PEGASUS STARFIGHTER IMPERIAL TRANSPORT SHUTTLE MERCENARY SHIP (NEW) INQUISITOR SHUTTLE (SCYTHE TRANSPORT) To celebrate the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi here is my MINI version of the Inquisitor Shuttle which can be seen in the trailers. I myself will hold off watching this on Disney+ until all the Episodes are available so I can watch all in one go (Day off required!). I would expect a whole load of MOCs of this to appear, so here is mine. When I first saw this I thought it would translate in to a MINI really easily. There must be a wedge for the front section I thought. But no, nothing that would fit the shape. It took me a while to work out how to solve this. In the end the solution I came up with was to invert wedge plates and attach them to a plate with two handles with clip tiles. They could then be angled to (almost) match the slope bricks for the main body. This was the only tricky part of the build. The rest was easy but I think it looks the part. I have also built a custom Reva minifigure. I will replace this with the official one once it is available. Let me know what you think. Jon
  2. Hello again everyone I have not given this Resistance thread much love recently - a bit like the series really - but I am now adding 3 new models to this page including the long overdue Colossus. I am also working on a new smaller version of Vonreg's Tie and at some point I may also build Jaeger's Racer. Whilst it was not a great series, there were some great ship designs. THE COLOSSUS The Colossus was an aircraft refueling station on the ocean planet Castilon in the Western Reaches of the Mid Rim. It turned out to also be a Hyperspace capable Starship. This was one of those models which had the potential to become a lot larger in MINI scale than it actually turned out. The trick of the model is that it is built along a spine of bricks with studs on sides and to attach the city centre these are then flipped so 3 hollow studs are showing to attach the command/city structure to the plates on the city structure. It was quite an easy build once I worked out how to attach the top section: I wanted to be able to easily remove the "platform" as for most of the first series you do not see the majority of the ship as it is underwater. I think this turned out quite nicely. I managed to get most of the engines on the model too - there are one or two missing at the top but to add all the engines would make the model too big. The model looks bigger than it actually is on display as it is vertical. I have also created a custom Captain Doza minifigure for this one. Minifigures are not my speciality but he looks quite good. GUAVIAN SCOUT SHIP The Guavian Ship was model of starship that was used by the Guavian Death Gang during the war between the First Order and the Resistance. This ship actually first appears in The Force Awakens in a blink and you miss it appearance on a black and white monitor on the Eravana when it docks, but appears in full colour in Resistance (and in the fleet at Exegol in Ep IX) and is another great visual from an otherwise bad series. The only trick on this one is the angling of the plates from the main round body to get the angle nose so that is goes from 4 studs to 3 studs wide at the tip. The gap is then filled in by using tiles and offset plates with the studs going in to the stud holes on the bottom of the tiles. This can be seen in the underside view of the model. It looks good on display as it adds colour. It's always nice to have something other than grey! FIRST ORDER TIE BOMBER Lastly another great design from the Series Finale - the First Order Tie Bomber. Nothing really tricky technique wise on this one, just another variation on the many tie fighters I have built. The panels slope outwards, as opposed to inwards on the Imperial Bomber and clip plates and handle plates have been used to achieve this. A nice looking model on disply. More new models soon. Jon
  3. IMPERIAL STAR DESTROYER This is a companion model to the Xyston-Class Star Destroyer in the Ep. IX Thread. This is a MOD/major overhaul of the official LEGO Polybag. I have added the nose construction below used on the Xyston (it works better on the larger model as the angle is less noticeable). I have also completely redone the citadel section and added more layers of plates to the bottom section. Really all that remains of the polybag is the framework of the model. Apart from the nose no other construction tricks on this. I hope you agree this is an improvement on the polybag! Jon
  4. XYSTON-CLASS STAR DESTROYER Hello again, this time we have the Sith Eternal Star Destroyer from Ep IX. The design of this is based on the Imperial Star Destroyer but larger with an axial Super-Laser and go faster red stripes! Star Destroyers have been done to death in this scale (and larger) but i never really liked building them as I always hated the way the nose looked in MINI scale. It would always be two studs wide and look blunt and not look right. Yes, you can use the old space wing piece but to me that didn't look right either. You can also build the entire shape with slope pieces but then that makes adding detail to the top and bottom tricky. I was running out of things to build so i bit the bullet and decided to give this one a go. After a lot of tinkering around with plates and wedges trying to improve the nose I finally stumbled across the construction below using the 2x3 plate with a hole, clip plate, two 1x2 slopes with grille and a 1 x1 plate. I think the angle is a few degrees off from the 3 x 6 wedge plates but is not really noticeable. This and the fact i needed to have at least a 3 plate layer of wedhes for the red stripe dictated the size of the model. The other trick used in this model is for the engines. They are attached within the main build using plates with handles and a clip tile on the cone pieces so that the engines will sit within the gao in the plates at the back. I quite like how this turned out. I have also modded the polybag of the ISD which can be seen in more detail in my Original Triolgy thread but I have added a comparison picture below. I think the two are "roughly" to scale by accident. Let me know what you think. Jon
  5. Yes the Star Wars polybags are fewer but the Lego Star Wars magazine has some nice little models as the gift from time to time. The Falcon on the current issue is fantastic for its size.
  6. Yes, it is much better and also available on a keychain so it is available at a fraction of the price of the actual figure. A good pair of wire cutters and hey presto! totally agree. it's like solving little puzzles getting the right shapes etc in small scale and when you get there........Building is also very therapeutic - it helped keep me sane during lockdowns
  7. Thank you. The Planets sets were so much better than the microfighters which replaced them. Can you tell I was a fan………
  8. Hello again everyone Apologies, it’s been a while since I last posted anything new. We have had some work done on the house and all the LEGO was packed away in boxes in various stages of completion. I was hoping to post something over Christmas but the work on the house overran and my own work has also been busy due to year end so not had a chance to build/post anything until now. To make up for this I am posting 4 NEW models from The Bad Batch. JUSTIFIER The Justifier was a starship owned by the bounty hunter Cad Bane. It had a central thruster that was capable of reorienting itself laterally, so that it would align itself horizontally with the ship. The Justifier was created for an unfinished four-episode arc starring Cad Bane and Boba Fett in the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, prior to the series' cancellation. Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo revealed concept art for the Justifier during "The Untold Clone Wars" Panel at Celebration Anaheim in April 2015 and the concept was tweaked for Bad Batch. Naturally the reorienting thruster is the main feature of the ship so I have incorporated this in to the model. There are no real tricks on this model but I think I have most of the features and shape and dimensions right. The biggest problem was this model not becoming too large as the engine section is pretty big with the 4 thrusters. The Cad Bane minifigure is cool so this looks good on display. FENNEC SHAND’s SHIP As is obvious from the name this is Fennec Shand’s ship in which Shand travelled to Pantora in the ship after being tipped off by a contact that Omega was on the moon. I have not been able to find the actual name of this ship or the model/class so if anyone can enlighten me! This model is built along a spine of brackets with normal brackets one side and inverted the other like this: This utilizes the 5:2 ratio very nicely. This allows for the tan highlights on the top of the model to be realised from the thin part of the bracket. I did use bricks with studs on both sides to begin with but then adding plates and the slope for the shape of the hull became too wide. If the new 2 x 6 wedge plates become available in the right colour I may rebuild this ship using those. Again, I think the shape/dimensions/details are pretty good and again the Fennec Shand fig is cool. PANTORAN CRUISER The Rainhawk-class transport, also known as the Pantoran Cruiser, was a type of transport utilized by the Pantorans during the Clone Wars and as such this ship first appeared in the Clone Wars series. The Twi'lek freedom fighter Gobi Glie (who also appeared in Clone Wars) used one of these starships to give the young Hera Syndulla piloting lessons and took the ship on supply runs for the Free Ryloth Movement, including a rendezvous on Ryloth's nearest moon to pick up weapons. Crosshair showed off his incredible sniping skills as he shot down Gobi’s ship with a single bolt. It’s a simple build this one with a custom Gobi Glie minifigure (the Twi’lek head is from Firestar toys with a clear transfer added by yours truly). I do like the new 1 x 2 bracket (used to attach the slope at the back of the ship). RHO-CLASS SHUTTLE The Rho-class transport shuttle is visually extremely similar to the Nu-class attack shuttle, with key differences being a dorsal wing, an elongated hull, and the ability to attach and carry cargo pods for passengers or supplies or mobile barracks to the underside of the hull. Following the reorganization of the Republic into the Galactic Empire at the end of the Clone Wars, the Imperial Military continued to use the Rho-class transport shuttle and it regularly appears in Bad Batch. This model is based on the polybag of the Nu-Class shuttle but is very heavily modded. Obviously, it has been lengthened, the dorsal fin added, the engines and rear have been completely redesigned along with a new build for the wings. I have also managed to incorporate a removeable cargo pod which was not as simple as I first thought as there needed to be space for the wings to fold down. In fact it this little model turned out to be more about borrowing a few ideas from the polybag as although the main body looks very similar to the design of the polybag the actual construction and interlocking of pieces is very different. Now to rebuild the Nu-Class in the same way………… Crosshair travelled in one of these so he is included as the minifigure. Let me know what you think. I hope to post again soon. Jon
  9. Here you go. Might not be 100% complete but wll have most of what you need if not all. Thanks very much. Glad you like them.
  10. Hi again everyone, I have not posted anything for a while as work and family (school holidays) took over but here I am with not one, not two, but three models from Season 2 of The Mandalorian! JUGGERNAUGHT Firstly, the Imperial Combat Assault Transport, also known as the Juggernaut was a model of cargo transport used on Morak as part of its Imperial remnants. These vehicles were used to transport valuable rhydonium cargo to the planet's Imperial refinery. This is quite a simple little build with no real tricks but I think it works well. The trickiest part was how to attach the 10 wheels and I settled on the 1 x 2 plate with pinhole on the bottom. The tyres were then attached using axle pieces and technic bushes. There is also a custom Migs Mayfield (in imperial driver uniform) figure built with this one. TREXLER MARAUDER Second is the Trexler Maruader. The Trexler 906 Armored Marauder was an armored box-shaped troop transport and a more combat-ready variant of the K79-S80 Imperial Troop Transport. At least one was used by the Imperial remnant led by Moff Gideon. One was present on Gideon's Imperial base on Nevarro and was stolen by our heroes during the fighting. Again, this is quite a simple little build which I think works really well and most of the details are there. The main spine of the build does flip from 2 to 3 studs using bricks with studs on side and technic bricks. I also don’t normally use stickers but I have used stickers from the Clone Scout Walker – 20th Anniversary Edition set to add some detail on the sides of the model. I like this little model and I am thinking I should go back and build a Rebels Imperial Troop Transport model in the same vein to replace my existing model which is a bit bigger than this one. COBB VANTH’S SPEEDER Last, but not least, is Cobb Vanth’s speeder. Cobb Vanth's speeder was a custom built repulsorcraft vehicle that was made from a modified 620C podracing engine. Cobb Vanth, the marshal of the Tatooine town Mos Pelgo, used the speeder to travel the Jundland Wastes and protect his people. If the pieces used for this little model look familiar, that is because it was inspired by the latest Anakin’s podracer polybag. Most of the pieces for this model came from that set with just a few additions. The round bricks with holes allow for some detail and the seat to be added as well as providing a hole for the stand (which is always a consideration when I build models – how to display it!). This model also comes with a custom Cobb Vanth figure. The chest piece is from a custom Boba Fett figure from ebay and is perfect for the sheriff in Boba’s armour. Let me know what you think about these new models and any others in this thread. I will try not to be as long before I post again! Jon
  11. Thanks very much. I might start watching it next week as it is half term. Can watch it after the monster has gone to bed and don't have t get up early to take him to school!
  12. New models will appear in replies to this thread. Hello again everyone, I have been unwell and otherwise busy workwise so not posted anything for a while but I return with the signature ship from The Bad Batch, the “Havoc Marauder”. The Havoc Marauder was a Omicron-class attack shuttle that served as the personal starship of Clone Force 99, also known as the "Bad Batch." The craft was unique compared to other Grand Army of the Republic starships, so it was used for the Bad Batch's covert and undercover missions throughout the Clone Wars. I could have added this model to the Clone Wars thread as it first appeared there in the final season but it will be more prominent in the new series (unless it goes the way of the Razor Crest 😉). I have not watched any of the Bad batch yet, I will wait until it’s nearly all available and then binge watch. If it's half as good as Clone Wars........... Now enough waffle and on to the model. The only real tricky part was the pointed cockpit section, which is all built on one of those old space robot bodies and attached to the main body using a headlight brick and a 1x6 plate which runs along the length of the body. The ship is very angular so I settled on using the 1x2 grille slopes along the sides and whilst there are the obvious gaps the curved slopes just didn’t look right. I think overall I have captured the shape pretty well. The relatively new 6 x 4 wedge plates are also perfect for the main construction of the folding wings. The Echo minifig is a custom from an ebay seller. Let me know what you think. More models soon. Jon
  13. SELF-PROPPELLED HEAVY ARTILLERY TURBOLASER (SPHA-T) Hello again everyone The Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery Turbolaser (SPHA-T), also known as the Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery (SPHA), was a 12-legged gun platform manufactured by Rothana Heavy Engineering. They were the largest ground-based weapons used by the Grand Army of the Republic in the Clone Wars. This one, like the first four models in this thread, again started out as just updating an old model (below) with new pieces: However, after looking at more and more source references it became apparent that a complete rebuild was needed. T he original model was too narrow (5 studs rather than 4-wide for the body is better and allows more detail), the walker is not completely symmetrical – there is a troop platform on the right side of the walker for example, the detail at the rear with the “exhausts” and a complete rebuild of the turbolaser. This turned from replacing a few pieces (the new 1x2 semi-circle brick at the front instead of a 2x2 round brick for example) into a really fun project and I am really pleased with how this one turned out. The 12 legs are attached 1 ½ studs apart on a 1x10 plate using the 1x1 round plate with open stud. Let me know what you think. Jon
  14. Thanks. I do try and get the proportions as close as I can without the models getting too large and also try to get as much detail in as possible. many thanks.
  15. FORTITUDE ‘LUCKY LANDER’ Hello again everyone Back to Ep. IX this time with another model from the lockdown building binge; The Fortitude, nicknamed "lucky lander" by some troops, was a YC-123B transport hauler in the service of the Resistance during their war against the First Order. During the Battle of Exegol, the Fortitude carried several troops and Orbaks to attack Exegol. Like the earlier ‘Bestoon Legacy’ model this looks new when compared to the source but in this scale it is harder to get that old look. This is probably it’s showroom look. 😊 This model does not have many complicated techniques. The engines were probably the trickiest part getting the 3 blocks of 4. They have been attached using bricks with studs on sides attached to technic bricks on the 2 engine pilons. The size of the engines also determined the overall size of the model. The only other tricky part of this ship was the recessed arch at the front for the troop deployment. Those 2 x 2 modified tiles with studs on the edge solved the problem of the bottom lip with the two decorated tiles used for the doors set back on headlight bricks attached to bricks with studs on the side. As I said it looks a bit new but the shape and proportions are pretty much spot on I think. As usual let me know what you think about this one and any other models in the thread. Jon
  16. GOJI-DF TURTLE TANKER Hello again everyone And now for something completely different………….as someone once said! It’s back to the Clone Wars with this model and the Turtle Tanker from the Brothers arc. During the Clone Wars, a Turtle Tanker on Stobar was commandeered by Savage Opress, a Nightbrother seeking to reunite himself with his brother, the former Sith once known as Darth Maul. The Goji-DF, also known as the Turtle Tanker, was a utilitarian starship manufactured by the Corellian Mining Corporation and was used throughout the galaxy during the Clone Wars, with spacious holds that could be partitioned to allow for simultaneous transport of a variety of cargo. What makes this ship different is that the Turtle Tanker featured all-terrain legs to assist in landing on worlds with minimal or no docking facilities, with the feet containing its engines. The ship's minimal cockpit doubled as an escape pod; a secondary command module within the main tanker allowed it to be piloted even without the cockpit. The cargo pod is also detachable leaving just a walker/ship. I wanted to build a little model which would keep all of the above features. The cockpit is detachable as is the cargo pod just leaving the walker section. This model (the cargo section especially) had the potential to become very big so I decided to try and keep it simple and use those 3 x4 wedges for the sides and rear slope and just closed the gaps with some plates. There are no really clever techniques on this one it was really down to parts choice. I think it works pretty well all in all. Let me know what you think. Jon
  17. IMPERIAL TRANSPORT/DROPSHIP Hello everyone I hope everyone is keeping well in these hard times. As mentioned in my post for the Outland Tie here is one of the new vehicles from Season 2 - The Imperial Transport/Dropship from Chapter 14: The Tragedy. This appears to be an earlier version of the First Order Transport (which looks like a WW2 landing craft) from The Force Awakens. The Imperial transport was used by Moff Gideon's Imperial remnant. I will avoid further spoilers for those that haven’t watched it yet. (Why not?!) Whilst I have some other vehicles now built from other movies/series I thought I would publish this one as it is more relevant/recent and fresh in people’s minds. This little model took quite a lot of thought and planning and there are a couple of tricks used in this model: Firstly, for the slope on the front section. This very slight slope has been achieved by using a clip plate and one of those 1x1 plates with handle. The slight gap you have naturally between plates allows for the slope when the nose is attached. This took a bit of experimenting before coming up with the right approach. The sloped nose just sits on the lower section and is only attached by the one clip. Secondly, the top part of the model is 5 studs wide and the bottom is 4 studs wide to get the slight overhang – the wonder of jumper plates! This also allows the engine section to have the required 8 engines with the small gap between them. Thirdly, the engine section is built on a 9L technic liftarm. This is held on to the main body of the ship by 2 bricks with studs on the sides in the centre hole of the liftarm. I have also made a custom Mortar Trooper from the same episode using black and yellow sharpies on a cheap old stormtrooper figure. The pauldron is from Firestar toys and has also been sharpied to get the two colours. I have seen rumours that there will be an official version of this figure later in the year so this custom may well be replaced later on. There is also a brick built mortar. I think it turned out pretty well. Let me know what you think. Jon
  18. OUTLAND TIE FIGHTER Hello again everyone. I have not posted anything for a while – I had a nasty bout of gastroenteritis over the Christmas break so I did not get to do much building. However, I did get a chance to rewatch the first season of The Mandalorian and the second series whilst I was in my sick bed. I realised I had not built the Outland Tie! What a major oversight. Whilst it just looks like a normal Tie in flight mode there is of course the folding panels for landing which make it distinctive. I solved the folding panels problem simply by using clip plates and plates with handles on the panels. The cockpit ball uses techniques used previously and the panels are just attached to the truncated cone pieces on the cockpit using the bottom stud of a 1x2 plate. I have also built a custom Moff Gideon figure – apologies to the purists for the use of a Sharpie on the katana piece for the Dark Saber! The idea for the display base is also not mine – I saw something similar whilst searching images on Google – so if it looks familiar, thank you! I wanted to display this in landing mode as otherwise it just looked like a normal Tie and it just looked wrong on the stand on it’s own in landing mode. Whilst watching I also discovered there are some new vehicles to build from Season 2 also so keep a look out. Let me know what you think. Jon
  19. Thanks for the compliments guys. The Wookiee Catamaran is on my list to be mothballed when I need the space in the display cabinet. I agree the video game model, even with a few improvements, is not that accurate. I like your ideas so I might use some of those if I decide to rebuild.
  20. Sure no problem. There may be extra/few parts not on the list. I build rough prototypes (more for feasibility than look) after having the ideas in my head then order what I think I need for the finished model. Most of the time it works out fine but sometimes i need a few extra parts.
