  1. tnx for info, but at the customer service, you can get one for free, if yours is broken. but you have te send your broken one back. +1 but i don't want to place just a LA but do something unusual. I don't have reasons but you know, always good to play around a bit.
  2. [MOC] [WIP] Mercedes-Benz dump truck. Hello, I decided to go make a moc. I bought the arocs last november and i was like:"hmm, i have enough stuff to build a good moc." so i started to make a plan. A simple painting in word 2013 and i made some challenges and requirements for myself. Here is a list: RC functions: Driving Steering Outtrigger Sideway Tipping(which side is not decided yet.) Manual functions: Openable doors Switch rc/handdrive HoG steering Other specs: Suspended, driven tracks Suspended steering frontwheels Outrigger will have 2 stages, driven by one motor with the use of a differential. There will only be one outrigger on one side, depends on what side the truck is gonna dump. 19 studs wide (made the tracks and they turned out te be 19 studs wide) PF stuff 1x XL motor for driving 2x L- motor for outtriggers and tipping 1x M- motor for steering Will probably use the cabin of the arocs (42043) 2 receivers batterybox Challenges: Driven tracks(first time i work with tracks) 2 staged outriggers will be difficult. Unusual way to dump. Find a way to switch from handdrive/steer to RC. Advanced gearbox to make all this possible here is a rough sketch i made in word. i know this is gonna be a weird non-existing truck. but my goal is to make a really advanced truck and to learn things from it. i'm sure i'll do. 1. i only play with lego on sundays so don't expect to see updates midweek. 2. i also have no idea how it's gonna go and i don't know if I'm able to do all this. this is my first moc and this not a technical easy one. 3. another thing i wanna tell you is that i don't have receivers now. I had 2 from 8043 but the are both broken. 4. i ordered 2 by the customerservice broken bricks, but they were not available so i don't know when the moc will be finished. i also made no deadline for myself. the tracks now about the tracks, it was pretty difficult for me to build proper tracks, since i have never build one. the first problem i ran into was the good length. i built a track, all pretty well, but when i put on the actual trackpieces, it turned out that they were a half track too long. it just didn't fit. i also could not remove a piece because otherwise it would be too short. i experimented a bit with it but i wasn't able to get it right. Then i got the idea to look in the building instructions. so i did and i had a nice fitting track. i have to say, it is still a little bit loose, but that's probably supossed to. but then another problem came along. on a 5*7 bracket i put a small turntable to have a sort of suspension. but when i made my fitting track and put it on, the thing was waay to wide. (note: the photo's are taken with my smartphone. I don't have a normal camera so quality is pretty bad. sorry for that.) that's the reason i had to make a whole gear system in the tracks. you can see them on the picture above. the gears are coming out of the turntable right in the middle of the track. it took quite a while to lead the axle to the actual wheel. but that's done and i am satisfied wih the result. the black line shows how the axles and gears are going here are some more pictures. on the picture above you see how you can detach a track. it's pretty simple. i put 4 of these pieces(I don't know how to describe them) on the turntable with 3l pins. i now have 4 cross hole to attach to another piece. i just put 2 4l axles with stop in it as you can see. the axles go through 5*7 bracket and i put a half yellow bush on the underside. as written earlier the total width is 19 studs. the tracks are 5studs and i have 2 of them. i have a 5*7 bracket. with two beams and the 2 small turntables which are 1 stud. the tracks are each 37 pieces long which brings it in total to 74 pieces. I was happy to find out that it was as wide as the arocs because i'm going to use the cabin. Here is a picture. this is the result. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the outrigger I just finished the outtrigger. I wanted an outrigger with 2 stages like 42009 which could be expanded with one motor. i used a differential for that this is the first stage. you see that i used 2 bevel gears to drive 2 gearracks to expand outwards. then i used a u-bracket to transfer it down. the outtrigger is laying upside down, so the axle is going down, not up. this is the whole thing(not finished) you see that i used a small LA to do the downward movement. this means it can go down 4 studs. the LA is sticking out but i don't care about that since 42043 has that as well and that's a official lego set. here is the finished one: as you can see, it can expand 7 studs sideways and 4 studs downwards. if it is retracted, the thing is 22 studs wide which is a little bit wider than the tracks. it is 8 studs hight and 9 studs wide. 22*8*9. i used 26 gears in total. it took me a day to build and i'm pretty ok with it. below is a picture from the outrigger as seen from the bottom. you see the differential.you turn the differential with the big black bevel gear, the right side goes to the ----------------------------------------------------------------------- front wheels today i moved on the front suspension. i disassembled the 42043 B-model and i only left the cabin+grille. when nothing was left but the pieces, i began building. i had a great idea(i thought) my idea was this: i attached those black pieces and a ball joint. then i use some liftarms and attached it to a frame. it worked pretty well and i was happy, yeah this is going so well!! look under here, full independent, it can steer, no problem. yeah!!! then i saw something horrible, it was a 'little bit' too wide. i experimented a bit but i found out, that those wheelhubs combined with liftarms are too wide. look at the second picture: luckily, i remebered a topic about suspended axles, so i looked throug my history and fount this topic. i looked for a while and build this axle: (finally good quality ) i used the road wheels, not the balloon ones. the building instructions on LDD are 'great'. #not. but i managed to build it. i ran into a few problems. 1. i don't have a powerjoint. so i had to use a normal 5x7 bracket for the differential. a 2. another problem. if i don't use the powerjoint, how am i gonna attach the axle to the chassis. i used a sort of life axle idea. or is it a real life axle? 3. to drive the differential,i had to use a half thick 20z bevel gear. i first did that but it was not sturdy enough. the gear slipped out several times. after messing with it for a while, i came up with the idea to just turn the axle around and use a double bevel gear. 4. the steering didn't work at first because, it could not move forward to the axle, if you know what i mean. if you steer a wheel, the gear racks moves a bit forward, but the bracket was in it's way so that didn't work. i put the gear rack on the upside and it had space to move, but the gears slipped. i placed just two blue 5x3 L-beams to fix that. all in all, i changed quite a bit of the axle and only 50% of so is from the original building instructions. check it out below. it can steer very well and has a bit ackerman geometry. it works fine though. i attached the spring to the liftarm so i don't have to make a whole structure to attach it to the truck. it has a travel of 2 studs. that is not much but it works, and i'm fine. it was not my goal to have as much travel as possible. i'm pretty satisfied with it, it works fine. the next step is attaching the arocs grille and cabin. i think, i'm gonna use the 6l fake motor as well. the axle is 19 studs wide, just like the tracks and the cabin summary: i am building a non existing truck with driven and suspende. tracks and steered, driven, suspended frontwheels. it will have a sideway dumping and an outtrigger to that side with two stages like 42009. it will be rc and have a switch so you can drive manually. i'm gonna use the arocs cabin because it's a wonderful piece of lego. this is my fist moc so i don't know how it will turn out. for details and building process, check out the whole first post. if have now build: - tracks - front wheels - cabin and grille - outrigger i have to build: - nice frame to put on the cabin and grille. - gearbox for all functions and motors and a switch : manual-->rc. - a mechanism to dump sideways. - a bed, you know, where you put in the stuff to dump.
  3. hmm, not a good idea to not read EB for 3 days, man it took me over 2 hours to read and to study te pictures etc. anyway im really exited about the set and it seems to have a lot of functions. who is the designer? or is that unknown? the gearshift mechanism is really clever. wondering how much speeds it wil have. how much does the real one have? thanks
  4. it looks most like the 2nd picture, but the ratio's are wrong. the conveyor at the back is waaaay to short, and the grey 'tower' is too high. the arm where the bucketwheel is located is quite right. the tracks are too big as well but i can understand that, it has to carry 3500 parts.
  5. in the picture from the bwe(http://i.imgur.com/q5chnmJ.jpg) we saw that the crane has the same buckets as the arocs. so there will probably be a pneumatic cilinder i think. and i see something yelllow there.
  6. it will have a bucket wheel and a lot of tracks i think. the new gear rack is gonna be used as well a few times. they always use as much of the special parts as possible. i don't see other noticable parts. they probably are there but i cant see them. edit: i tell it like i have a source but this is just what i think.
  7. i counted 18 studs, maybe it's 19 or 17
  8. should there be an rc set this year? i read something about that. if yes, the BWE is not rc(look at the box) the claas neither so the porsche should be rc. maybe new stuff?
  9. so, what i see is this: - looking on the box behind it, it has one XL-motor - That means you need a gearbox, and i see 3 levers, so six functions - there are new yellow gearracks used as a turntable, in the bucketwheel and i see a half behind the grey 'tower' - on the back, there are lots of yellow axles and connector #1's used for a railing. this is maybe the reason they used yellow axles this year. - are there pieces included for digging? the box shows some pieces. - on the back, there is another arm with a track on it. that wasnt visible on the first picture. - wow, a very very big WOW, it has 3927 pieces, that is huuuge. - as already said: the big LA's to lift/lower the big boom are operated manually. - on the box it looks way more beautyful than on the first picture. this is what i saw and what i think about it. edit: the dump truck consists of 362 parts, 3927-362=3565 parts. there are some used for digging(the dump truck is filled) so i would say the BWE itself contains 3500 parts. pretty big
  10. it would make sense if there is a pump v2 as well, the mounting point from the old cilinders were 2 studs wide and the v2 pneumatics have new ones which are 1 stud wide. it would be logical if they do it on the pump as well.
  11. glad we have more information now. just waiting for the pictures
  12. i like that it is compatible with tires and tracks. TLG should make that as well.
  13. Hello guys, i'm pretty new here on eurobricks and i just discovered hall of fame. I saw all great and marvellous creations i know and many many more that i dont know. but i know one creation which is definitly in my top 3 best moc's. I haven't read all 14 pages so this one may be suggested but here it comes. Liebherr LTM 11200 by Huib van der Hart https://www.youtube....haRtV70R/videos The URL above is from his YT channel. IMO really worth checking it out! (Everything i tell you has come from his youtube channel, you can check it out for yourself.) This is a crazy huge build of a crane. Huib spend several years completing this build. He has been at some LEGO modelshows in the Netherlands and has video's of it. I will first post a picture so you know what I'm talking about: http://i.ytimg.com/v...E/mqdefault.jpg I'm sorry that it is such a small picture. As you can see on the picture, it has a lot of functions. functions: - Steering; on axle #1, #2, #6, #7, #8, #9; - Driving; I assume on axle #3, #4 , #5 because they aren't steerde but i can't confirm this. - Rotating upperstructure; - 3 part extending boom; - Lifting with cable; - X-form outtriggers which can extend and lower; - Crab steering (check out)i'm not sure if the crane has this function anymore because I haven't seen it on his last few video's. But it probably has. - It can lift it's counterweight. Oh not anymore :( This function has been removed. He said:"die functie heb ik eruit gesloop omdat die niet werkte zoals ik wilde." This is dutch. translated to english it means: "I removed that function, because it didn't work like I wanted it." Other details worth mentioning: - It has a total of 9 axles, 9!!!; - It has stickers; - It has a license plate; - A Mercedes-Benz logo; - The cab is fixed on a beam so it can move around just like in the real LTM11200; - It has 2 large beams on the boom to keep it balanced. - It has a metal turntable custom made. - He hase a flickr photo stream, He shared this link on YT so i think i'm allowed to share it as well, if not let me know. But.. There is so much more tell about it, but you can check it out for yourself. I really think this fits on Blakbirds shelf and it could really fit in the HoF but..... The creator has no EB account and there is (i couldn't find it) no topic about it. I don't want to make a topic myself because it is not my own creation. I know it does not follow the guidelines, but this crane(and his creator) really deserve a big place in the technic HoF. HoF editors can decide for themself if they add this to the HoF. let me please know what you think Robert...
  14. hmmm, don't know if my wallet likes it if i buy it. better not gonna do that, but its so awesome
  15. wow very nice. wasnt the programming a lot of work. how did you manage to get a 'picture' on the paper? i really really like it, especially since i'm very interested in computers. next step 3d printing
  16. It's a pity there are no photo's available by now. We will have to wait till 27th of january. I think we dont have to expect too much from the BWE. Of course it has lots of functionaltiy but you are limited by the parts you have. The scale can't be much bigger than 8043 because it would be nonsense if you have a extremely long and thin tracks, and the turntable is a tricky thing as well. TLC could use double tracks but i dont think they will do that. I also don't think there is a chance they will design new big tracks, because the BWE doesn't cost too much which means it will not be extremely big. however, I'm sure they will use the new turntable. ------------------------------------ edit after a few hour: hmm maybe they will use double tracks because real BWE's have that as well. some have a single pair of tracks some have a lot of tracks. would TLG use multiple tracks? btw; is there a way tu cut your pictures. i wasnt able to do that but that can be my fault.
  17. Hello other lego fans I am roppie11, my real name is robert ********* i'd like to stay anonymous. ;) That eleven doesnt tell you something about my age but about my birthday. I am 25 years old rather then 11. I live in the netherlands in the south. I am a big fan of lego technic. I don't have much sets. Have enough costs because of study but i have enough to make a nice moc. I have the following sets: 850 --> fork lift. first technic set i believe. I am very proud of it. 851 --> tractor. (practising with pictures ) i decided to add a picture so you know the set. if you are a real fan you will probably know the following sets 8043 motorized excavator, flagship 2010 8109 flatbed truck. it was for sale. less known 42009 flagship 2013 was my best set, till november this year, when i bought my arocs. 42008 liked it because of the pneumatics. didn't know that there would come an arocs. But it is a nice set. 42043 imo the best set, i love it, it is my first set with suspension, so i like that very much. the first 2 sets are still assembled and are standing in my windowsill the other sets are all disassembled because i like to make some moc's. those are never serious moc's, i'm just playing around a little bit with it. with the 42043 added to my collection, i will probably try to make a serious moc this year but have no plans about sharing it. I think a am not skilled enough to make a good moc. I know bricklink, brickset, brickowl and EB of course. I also follow various youtube channels about lego. If you know some other useful sites about lego, feel free to tell me. I hope to have a happy time here on EB and if you got any tips, just tell me. information is never useless. have a nice day!
  18. PF is nice, but don't we have enough of that stuff? I mean, what would we need anymore. We have big and small motors, remote control and even a servo motor. some attachments would be nicer in my opinion. If possible with some unusable constructions and mechanisms we can use in MOC's.
  19. I think that there is a good chance that the BWE uses the buckets of 42043, i looked at some pictures, and the bucket has about the same ratio as 42043. The bucket from 8043, for example, would look horrible on the BWE, and i think you wil get a very wide frame to hold that wheel
  20. this set looks very much like the lada niva. very ugly imao
