The ghost MF will have Hera in it. Personally i find the main figures in MFs a bit odd, people can buy 2-5 ARC 170s for their small squadron, but youll never buy more then a single Falcon or Ghost.

Not strictly star wars (as in, didnt buy a box with the SW logo on it), but i just bricklinked some parts for an imperial version of the original 6205 V-wing, i enjoyed doing my Vader Eta-2 so much, i figured i'd give him some backup, and the original V-wing seems to represent the essence of the ship (small, simply and cheap) best, so i am going for a modded version of that one.

Awesome find! Id love for lego to put out some large rims which allow for the turn point to be inside the wheel rather then outside

[MOD/MOC] Darth Vader's Sith Interceptor
Vectormatic replied to Vectormatic's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks guys! Currently contemplating what small project to do next, the V-wing is on my list, but not sure yet. -
Cool! I recently did a black Eta-2 (well, black-grey) Ill definitely mod the new Eta-2 to the old structure

Oh wow, i didnt even see the seperate neckpiece thing, now i really want one of those Lego better make a new Darth Vader Tie soon :P -
Looks good! could do with some minor modding (some cheese-slopes here and there to tone down the blockiness), but that is a big improvement on the Blue-black original

No problems what so ever here in europe, but those sets are priced pretty damn high over here. One major toychain has Kylo's shuttle on sale for €99 (down from €129) and the transport for €78 (down from €99), and even then they dont seem to be moving those sets at a large rate. -

Ah, i wasnt aware there was a new helmet, it does look a lot better then the old one i must admit (although slightly less lego-styled as a result) -
How do you display your models? With or without stickers?
Vectormatic replied to hallonsylt's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Stickers on for SW and other system style stuff, stickers off for Technic (as i tend to mod my technic models, and stickers mess that up) In general though, i prefer sticker-less (or sticker-light) models if i have a choice, i bought a 6209 over 8097, partially because the former doesnt need the stickers to look good. And on the upcoming jedi interceptor, i will be rebuilding the front of the wings to replace the small grey trapezoid stickers with a brick-built form similar to 75038 -

Id suggest trying to find a used 8017, they go for $40 and up on bricklink, and besides having vader, the ship itself is a pretty damn nice craft, even if recent Ties have been better -
I really love your mod (and quite some dedication, a UCS sized mod), but man, i really dont like the split-wing design of the new T70, every time i start to warm to the idea of a new X-wing i see the Split wings and shake my head. Kudos on the MOD!

Good point, we wont know until the movie hits though, id still stick with the Tie though, makes more sense to me :P An X-wing is a starfighter, not a ground support craft -
Yup, the new interceptor is a step backwards in every facet, except the pilot :P, if i buy Obi's Eta-2, ill just BL the parts needed to convert it to the old model, but in the right colors As for stragglers, 75078 is leaving, so if you want more frown troopers (as opposed to scar-troopers in the new BP), id pick that one up (i might pick up an extra or two), some other first wave rebels kit might dissapear too. This would mean the Ghost/Phantom at least, and probably the AT-DP and Tie-proto too (the Tie proto actually is listed to end this month on brickset)
-
Insanely enough though, 42000 is 10cm longer still, these technic cars are quite the behemoths
-
I love it, it's like a bat-skull fighter I need to start building "uglies" such as this

Cool, i like that we're getting Hera with the ghost, and that BP looks awesome, not so worried about 75078 retiring now (id love a few technichians) Ill probably get the Interceptor as well, though i might fix the ship to be the same as anakin's interceptor, the angles on that one look better -

Both TFA sets are relatively overpriced, and i think the snowspeeder looks really bad/uninteresting. The SF Tie looks awesome, and is a much more intricate build then the Tie's of old though (as is the Tie proto), and it is the only set in your lineup which is close to the X-wing in terms of size the interceptor is pretty cool, but much smaller then the rest, it is a nice robust starfighter, very swooshable. If you can find the SF-Tie slightly below MSRP id go for that though, it is the obvious pairing with the X-wing -

This is going to be really weird for me (considering ive been complaining about lego, and SW in particular being overpriced here in europe), but im honestly fine with paying €30 for an interceptor, after building one last week im quite impressed with the thing, even if part-count wise the price is insane. -

Those are canadian prices, which are higher then US prices also, i wish i could get an interceptor for $30, they have a €30 list price here, and most shops ask €33 for them :( -
Now wouldnt that be hilarious, if Lego based the x-wing off of preliminary artwork, and shortly after handing it over to Lego the guys working on the movie went "nah, he should just have white with red marking, like the X-wings from the OT"

I might have to nick that steering mechanism trick, looks good! -
The red stripe is the designation of the Special Forces of the FO, so instead of an SF Tie (which has the rear guns/gunner), this is just a regular FO Tie.
-
Thanks! Im pretty happy with how it looks. On the steering, im not entirely sure if i want to try and fix this chassis (which would be hard considering the placement of the engine), or just take this for a relatively OK first project and move on, to either a completely scratch built chassis, or getting 42037, or 42041 (for the B-model). Im kinda affraid that trying to fix the steering on this model will just ruin the characteristic Hot-rod front end
