The Millennium Falcon colour thread (White, Grey or Blue!)
Vectormatic replied to appiah4's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The blue-orange one is a chinese knock-off set clearly inspired on the falcon I for one think it is awesome, sadly the cheapest ive found it so far is $90, and that is waaaaay too much for me to spend on a knock-off set for shits and giggles- 125 replies

I could do without the scars, and im not to fond of the commando guy, but i love the officer, its nice to have a cheap option for those guys, and he doesnt have a rank insignia, so could be easily used as a crewman in ships/bases, that guy is probably the most interesting thing about the set to me (for stormies i might as well pick up a bunch of the current Rebels BPs) -
Does anyone have an idea whether the blue curved panel on the hydro racer is blue or light blue? Id love those in blue to change the colors on my 42039 (but it run into a lot of other panels not being available in blue :( ) Im loving the getaway car and the go-kart, definite buys, although the go-kart will get color-modded ASAP, that purple-orange combo hurts my eyes, its like 42036 all over again EDIT: took a closer look at 42045, and im convinced the panels at the rear are Blue, not Medium-Blue, the blue pin in the middle somwhere looks the same color, and those are only out there in Blue (and i wouldnt know why they would make those in Medium-Blue all of a sudden) Looks like not all the other Bright Green parts from 42039 are available in Blue though :( I love that lego is working more colors into their sets, but not having many current pieces available in those colors is a drag

2016 Speed Champions Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Excellent stuff, but i might limit myself to the R18. Id love the big porsche set, but i presume the $90-110 pricetag is going to make my wallet cry, especially since i only really care about the two cars (its the porsche GT finish all over again, but twice as bad) -

Looks like the Jedi interceptor and one or two empire BPs will be it for me from this selection, as i was expecting. I need an Eta-2 in the collection, and there is always room for expansion of the Imperial army :) -
Ive gotten to the point where i keep my opinions to myself, unless explicitly asked. As a parent myself, id mingle the reviews, piece counts, rare pieces and other considerations with those of being a parent, not trying to undermine a parents authority, educational value of the set, subject matter, complexity etc.. It is all way too complex, and chances are if i werent to intrude they'd go home happy with their choice, not knowing they could have gotten a slightly better reviewed set or whatever, what is there to gain by intruding?

I have both 42000: the more impressive model, and imho, more accurate looking, the suspension is more interesting as well. Less interior space though, so mobilizing it will be harder (both models have a PF option, on this car, the battery box just gets hung off the back spoiler) 42039: Out of the box, a little more disappointing, a bit shorter, and the looks/proportions are a bit off compared to a modern le-mans racer (nose/cockpit are too long, missing the rear fin, the body work around the back is too high/bulky), but that all can be fixed (working on that myself right now), if you are OK with gutting out the feature mechanics, there will be a LOT more room for motors etc.. the stock PF instructions even hide the battery box in the nose, so itll be a lot easier to make this car look clean with batteries/motors in it. IMHO: if you can still find 42000 for a somewhat reasonable price, go for it, prices will go up from here, and 42039, while very nice, will be in stores for at least another year. That said, either model is very cool, so if 42000 is a bit too expensive, dont worry about it, 42039 is still a very impressive model, and IMHO a better base for modification then 42000

Picked up the Imperial Troop Transport battlepack yesterday (cracking set, will probably pick up at least one more), i have all the Rebels Imperial sets now, save for the assault carrier (which is just a tad too pricey for a somewhat meh looking setting, so im still on the fence, secretly hoping for a better imperial ship) Picked up a AT-DP polybag today as well, was in the toy store on an errand, couldnt help myself

Contrast, take the dark grey out of the current model, and it ends up looking like a big grey blob. Comparing the current falcon to the previous version, it is very clear that the added dark accents have mode for a visually much more interesting ship, at least to me.- 125 replies

Ah crap, well thanks for the heads up on that one, i would've been stung by that. The V2 on Bricklink is more expensive then a V1 from lego, but still reasonable. -

Nice pics, but no real sets im willing to bet -
Another AT-DP polybag, those small €4 bags kept staring me in the face when i was in the toystore on a quest to find a present for a friend's kid I can resist the bigger sets when im not in there to buy lego, but €4? its like a toy-store tax :P

http://alpha.brickli...ge?id=17809#T=I The only lego version has 1 brown plate (dont know where its placed on the model, but i suspect in a visible place), some tan bits, and i personally think the old dark grey has a very slight brown tint (compared to new dark bley anyway) Honestly, i dont see it either, if anything my complaint with pre-2006 Tie fighters is all the damn blue Is this the very light grey that people keep talking about (and which is very rare, and not all parts exist in)? Looks good- 125 replies

I can see the appeal, but in the end the white is far too clean for the MF Appiah4, maybe you could add a poll to the topic to see what everyone prefers?- 125 replies

Picked up the 75078 stormie battle pack yesterday, and it is a truly awesome little set, 4 high quality stormies (and while some of you dislike the frown-troopers, i think they are HUGE upgrade to the mainstay of my army, the rest is most old stormies from 7667), the vehicle holds all of them, making for a good mobile squad, and within the confines of a $15 set, they did a cracking job with the design of the vehicle as well, a very very nice build. The only downside being the stud-shooters obviously, but eh, that is a very minor issue imho

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
Vectormatic replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Agreed, im really digging the Rebels imperial sets, just got the stormie BP yesterday, and i have the Tie and AT-DP in reserve for christmas, im sort of eyeing the assault carrier as well As for the trailer, that new star destroyer looks like an interdictor cruiser to me, not something the empire used a lot of (or as a main ship in a fleet), so unless this one plays a VERY prominent part in the new season, i wouldnt expect a set based on it. I also spotted some imperial aclamators (although the bridge looks modified), id love to see them do one of those, we havent had a lego aclamator, and it would make a better lead ship for my Rebels Imperial army then a Gozanti cruiser EDIT: those arent aclamators, they are Arquitens class light cruisers: http://www.starwars....l-light-cruiser considerably smaller then an aclamator i think, the engine block looks a lot like the republic cruisers Any opinions on "Dark Lord: the rise of Darth Vader"? i have that for when i finish Tarkin, mainly bought it because it was written by Luceno and deals with a bad guy :) And yeah, i agree, Plagueis managed to somehow cast a completely new light on the PT, and TPM in particular, if only they had focussed the movie more on that aspect then the whole podracing/young ani nonsense. Ill keep A New Dawn on the list as well, considering it ties in with Rebels, which im loving right now. -

This might be me being naive, but i kind of expected the v2 to have totally replaced the v1, or will i get a v1 if i order a new one from lego themselves? For smaller MOCs getting stuck with a single L wouldnt be totally bad, but if i ever want to motorize something bigger (say my modded 42039), the ability to drive two Ls would be VERY important -
How much data do you want to map per stud? If you want to map only a single bit per stud (as in, there is something there, or there isnt), you can encode 8 studs in a byte, which is especially easy considering your area dimensions are multiples of 8. A single line would be 12 bytes, times 198 gets you under 2.4 KB in memory footprint Otherwise, If you arent affraid of other languages, id look into seeing if there are Java or C/C++ tools for EV3, im not familiar with G, but any more mainstream language is probably more useful for stuff outside of Lego, and it will probably allow you to do more with the EV3 as it is

All these tie's look completely awesome, makes me want to go out and buy the FO Tie

Until we get something from NYCC for this year, there is little to talk about here though.. Although it feels kind of odd to discus a set that is on shelves in the rumors topic.
