  1. Yeah, i really want to, but damn... The servo in particular is a hard pill to swallow, it costs the same as 250-300 part sets, but replicating its function with an M-motor is not easy, nor good for the electronics. I will have some extra budget for lego purchases soon, but i might hold off until we know what the "ultimate IP supercar" set ends up being, if it ends up being as ultimate as rumoured, itll be a budget buster, but also a must-have :)
  2. Well, im enjoying the read, but so far id rate Plagueis slightly higher, curious to see the rest of it though
  3. Agreed, RGB wise white is closer, but im convinced that a white lego MF would end up looking ridiculous, It is supposed to be an old freighter converted to a smugler ship and patched up time and time again, not a brand spanking new ship with a fresh coat of paint
  4. And the X-wing isnt exactly white either. It might have been rolling of the assembly line, but all that dirt etc... Just compare the lit parts of the X-wing to the snow below.
  5. Going widely off topic here, i started reading it yesterday (at page 65 now), and so far im not entirely impressed with the flashbacks to carrion, i get that its establishes Tarkins personality and provides a good base for his behaviour, but i feel like they distract quite a bit from the main story line so far. Off course this is coming from someone who has only read the first 1/6th of the book, but what ive read so far i find slightly below Plagueis, although i fully reserve the right to change that opinion later on. EDIT: On topic of the Vader Eta-2, looking at some pics from google, i think to do it justice Lego would need to make a different print for the cockpit canopy, making it even less likely to happen i think. There are a few MOCs of the craft out there, and the full grey cockpit does detract from the overall look compared to the "real" thing. Here's to hoping one of the sidestory movies of the coming years will go into Vader between Ep 3 and 4 more.
  6. I'd get the TFA version, AFAIK the sets are really similar, and modding the radar dish back to original status should be easy enough should you like that better. The TFA set should be easier to find as well, and i think it looks better, the outside is less bland grey blob, and the inside is more detailed and has newer pieces
  7. Thanks for the tip, im a bit on the fence about all the RC stuff, even a basic set (servo, L motor, controller/receiver and AA battery box) would cost me €80, which seems like a lot of money for just a bunch of parts, adding the rechargable box... oof. Although i can easily see it being worth it in terms of size, i think a chassis the size of your moc is excellent for RC, and fitting the AA box in such a space...
  8. Yeah, i meant a lego car on carpet is the equivalent of a real car on think high grass or lose sand, could've written that a bit clearer :) I think performance looks good as well, im just your regular gear-head, always trying to go faster, but i think once i get around to getting ym own PF RC stuff, ill quickly find out that having a small car move fast makes it hard to find a good space for toying with it.
  9. I dont have an Eta-2 in my collection yet, and Vader's black one would fit my bag guy ship collection perfectly, and although im not a fan of padding with minifigs, id love an updated tarkin, and provided they make a red one, a twi'lek (so i can piece together my own Darth Talon) On the topic of Obi's Eta 2, id be dissapointed if we get a booster ring, as cool as those thing are, i wouldnt know where to put it on display, and paying €70 or so for an Eta-2..... nah
  10. Awesome stuff, does anyone have an estimate of what building a car like this would cost (without the PF perhaps even?), i assume the rear tires are the famous waaaaaaay too rare and expensive ones?
  11. That is awesome, the crawlspace bit makes it sooo much more like a grown up version of a kids lego fort.
  12. That looks friggin awesome, i totally want one (just not enough to spend $96 for one from aliexpress)
  13. I think he means grey with red decals, like anakins current set is grey with yellow decals, rather then white with red decals, such as it looks in the movie
  14. I remember getting 8880 as a kid, it was one of the best things happening to me as a kid.
  15. Excellent point of view, and if it werent for my wallet forcing me to be a bit more selective, id be all over this shuttle, i love a good villain ship, and it should be a decent parts-pack as well, lots of dark bley
  16. 8051, still kicking myself daily for not picking that one up, prices on bricklink are ridiculous, with used sets going for 150% msrp, and NIBs going for $100+
  17. not everyone is a slacker ;) kidding aside, ive got my 24 hour race car mod to work on, but that is about it, i could use a new set to mess about with (and seeing how in mostly in to racecars, pickings can be a bit slim)
  18. After commenting here, i came across the 2015 thread and the discussion about the MF, white wouldve been closer to the real color of the MF, but as someone pointed out, lego white is really bright white, and wouldve ended up making the ship look shiny and new, rather then used and scarred like it should. I guess the same applies to the interceptor, it wasnt a fresh of the assembly line interceptor even at the start of the scene, and it took quite a battering Ill have to see some pics to really make my mind up on this one now, the same color combo looks pretty decent on a venator. I agree that the yellow one will probably be the better looking craft, but i just cant get myself to buy anakin..
  19. Ahh bugger Could correct it would some bricklinking i guess, but by then id be looking at a €40 interceptor, and any grey stickers would stick out.
  20. Should make for a decent base builder then, grab a couple and put em side by side and build in some variety, viola, instant Hoth defense front line
  21. Ooh, i had red/grey in my head for some reason, which made me unethusiastic at the least. Now if they do a true white/red version... I would've gotten the yellow one too if i didnt hate anakin with such a passion, the whiney brat
  22. Agreed, which is why im not buying it, or any other TFA set until at least after ive seen the movie And SW lego has gotten quite expensive recently, ive bought a couple of the Rebels sets, but only way below MSRP, €55 for a Tie proto.... nah
  23. Id go for the Slave I, because im a spaceship guy, and the sandcrawler just doesnt appeal to me (both as a set and a SW vehicle) If you go for the Slave I cloud city scene, id suggest looking into enhancing the Slave I model a bit, perhaps see if you can build a decent looking interior and have one of the side panels flip open to reveal Boba's bunk and weapon locker or something
  24. To ride the hype train, disney put out a whole wave of TFA toys already, Kylo masks and sabers etc.. why not capitalize on the growing SW hype before TFA? As for Lego, there will probably be some new TFA sets out in January anyway. I do agree that this shuttle is a risky set though, the wings not doing the V-thing stock is kinda lame.
  25. crap! -- my wallet seriously though, im digging the empire sets from rebels a lot, if i had the cash id totally get the assault carrier as well (have the Tie in box reserved for christmas, and the AT-DP is in the mail)
