  1. Looks amazing! kind of a shame that there doesnt seem to be space for a 12 cylinder under the hood, but that is what you get at this scale. Really reminds me of the old 599GTB. I could probably buy a dozen of the 42125 at this rate and build all the awesome B-models for a full-sized technic ferrari collection :P
  2. I totally dig the orange and black bits, but the extremely poor skirt and the rotating prop-guards put this one in below average for me. 8824 was one of my favorite sets as a kid, and this thing just looks poor and overdesigned by comparison.
  3. Im incredibly torn on this set, i have 0 interest in construction equipment usually, but for the price it just seems like a very nice little thing, and it might be quite easy to convert into a crawler crane
  4. Awesome design, this gen of SP always will have a special place in my heart, and this MOC does the theme justice
  5. Yeah, im not selling my stuff either, i might consider getting rid of one or two sets which im never gonna put back on display, but sets like 42056 and 42083 are gonna stay with me for a looooong time. That said, selling stuff second hand is always a massive pain in the backside, i posted the creator F40 for sale on a forum which has plenty of lego enthusiasts, zero interest... and no way im delving into the cesspit that are general public selling sites... True, ive broken my share of those old toothed half thickness axle rings, or the connectors which couple with them.
  6. @Husky Your version looks excellent, almost good enough to convince me to go buy the set :P As it is im waiting on a bigger price drop at the very least though, if i managed to snag the porsche at €110, the ferrari should drop to €125-130 at least.
  7. @syclone wow, those thin 3x3s i can understand, but the twisted 1x2 connector breaking like that? I dont even understand how that would happen, never mind how Lego QC is bad enough to make this happen this much. Personally i havent had part breakages since the flags and mini robot arms from the early 90s, im really curious if perhaps this has something to do with different factories etc.. Honestly, if i had had this happen in that amount, i wouldve noped out of lego years ago
  8. Excellent! Will the 308 be the GTB/GTS variant, or the GT4? (im hoping GTB, which is pretty much the daddy of all modern ferraris as far as im concerned) Also, will you be making instructions available for this, or the 308/Dino? Assuming the list of added parts doesnt contain some rare/expensive stuff, i'd be willing to pay for instructions for a model like this
  9. The parts breaking around axle holes is new to me, even the pushrod suspension on my 42000, which puts a LOT of stress on some axle holes is still tip-top But yeah, the colour variations are utterly dissapointing, and lego's stance on it even more so, if you charge premium prices, you need to back that up with premium quality. And while it is possible to make some mistakes and ship a batch of sub-standard product, the real test is how you as a company then handle that. And by acknowledging this as an accepted issue, not remedying it, and shipping off customers with some minor pinhole/w/axle thingy is just not on par. Im happy i havent bought the Sian, and while i absolutely loved the Ducati, the Sian's issues, along with others, have seriously pushed me away from lego. At a time when legitimate competition like CADA is improving by leaps and bounds, lego seem to be losing their magic touch, yet still spiral further down the high partcount, higher price vortex. Barring perhaps a magic rabbit pulled from the H2 hat (which i doubt), i think this is the first year since 2014 where i havent felt like buying anything from the new lineup.
  10. @amorti Thanks, i do know that these prices are ridiculous, and there is no way i would pay €290, hence my question if the static version is good too, but given your comment, it is just the RC version with the RC bits ripped out, no additional HOGs etc... Ill keep an eye out for ways to get the RC version for a decent price.
  11. True, and i dont think the TS050 would look bad, i just think lining the three up together would look a bit awkward
  12. @JunkstyleGio @Gray Gear I know the price difference is marginal ordering from china, but im not entirely sure i feel comfortable with that. If my local customs gets a hold of it ill be paying tax and admin costs and that will end up a lot more expensive, and take a long time to get here (and im an impatient SOB when it comes to ordering things online, i can wait ages with actually ordering, but when i do, i want it in my hands the next day) So i was looking at ordering from local shops reselling the set, and the only european option i found with actual stock so far would be €200 for the static, or €290 for the RC versions. Ridicilous prices on the face of it, but if i buy from china and customs picks my package to inspect, i would easily end up near €200 as well, negating any price difference. I havent made up my mind about it all, but figured that if the static version works well too, i at least have more options to look for a suitable shop to buy from, as both versions of this set seem to be in high demand and low stock everywhere
  13. Does anyone have any opinions on the non-motorized version of this set? Im looking at buying it, and i can find the manual version a decent bit cheaper, and since i mostly use these cars as display models, i dont really need the RC stuff, but i cant find any info on how the features work, and how well it works, without the motors.
  14. If the toyota is a TS050 ill pick one up, despite it not matching the 6-wide R18 and 919H, because le-mans The rest sounds pretty meh though, but that is mostly due to me losing interest. I gave away all my american muscle SCs to my brother in law who is very much into american stuff, and save for the three singles from last year, all of my SCs are in storage.
  15. For what its worth, the Bugatti Chiron might be mostly about looks, but the driveline is quite an interesting mechanism, an 8 speed + reverse flappy paddle transmission into 4WD is pretty much state of the art as far as lego's official gearboxes go. Supposedly the Sian is even a bit better, even though it is the same feature wise. Similarly, i found 42056's gearbox quite a cool mechanism as well, even if that had been used in mocs previously
  16. I hope you're doing okay man, this winter does suck. For what its worth, that new 1:8 LaFerrari looks awesome from the pics @LvdH found, and your creations like the 1:11 model from this thread bring some much appreciated distraction, so you're at least brightening my winter a bit.
  17. That sounds excellent, can you share whether this will be a design for CADA, or just standalone instructions?
  18. Excellent, that saves €30 on buying parts After checking, i do happen to have the other hubs as well, but id rather not tear down 42000 or 42039, while 42077 got part-binned pretty quickly.
  19. Hi guys, im currently in the process of gathering parts for this car, does anyone know if you can fit the regular steering hubs https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=23801c01 The parts list has a tow-ball steering hub which was only used for two years and costs €10-15 at least, while i have the other style in my partsbin. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=11949 Looking at the parts i think the regular hubs with a towbal inserted will work just fine, but id rather hear from someone who has built the set, having to buy two specific hubs for €30 is something i only want to do if i absolutely have to.
  20. There was a lego presentation linked somewhere earlier in this topic, basically lego has an acceptable range of colour variation they usually work within, and this range tends to be nearly invisible to customers. For the Sian they allowed more variations due to production difficulty due to corona. IMHO, lego has been making some dubious decisions lately, this colour issue on one of their super high end sets, the osprey debacle, and then there are some technical design choices such as the inconsistent and mysterious driveline problems on the defender etc.. And while i absolutely loved building a big set like the 911 and Chiron, and would love more of those experiences, i find it very hard to keep any enthusiasm for the brand. I actually bought the defender, excited to get a cool 2700 part build with a nearly chiron level driveline, but couldnt get the damn thing to run properly, despite checking every single gearmesh, axle, u-joint allignment etc..
  21. Lego knowingly lowered the quality standards on this set to keep production going though, it is a known issue, and they still decided to sell it as is. Considering the massive amounts of sets they've probably sold, i doubt they are going to walk back on that and try to fix this, especially given that not everyone has problems with the same parts, and it isnt even guaranteed that the right colour replacement parts for one customer are also right for the next customer... By all means, voice your concerns and dissatisfaction to lego, it is the only way they can be pushed to change and improve, but i wouldnt expect the sian to get fixed, especially ones already sold. Once lego gets a grip on their production lines post-corona they could perhaps fix the colour and produce new correct Sians, but even then buying one is going to be a gamble. One possible fix would be bringing out a set-revision with a different, easier to get correct colour, and perhaps sell conversion kits at a discount to current owners. It is also quite shame that lego keeps trickling in new parts on these sets every time, since there is no way to recolour the Sian on your own right now, given the unique panels.
  22. And lego ask 3-4x the price.. This set is pretty embarrasing, im looking at alternatives from cada (completely legit) instead
  23. 2 years after the defender, roughly similar price Heres to hoping it is an actually functional set, and not anotger 42077 reshell
  24. Look like a ferrari If that is worth the price is up to you
  25. The problem isnt just how it compares to the 1:8 sets, but also how it compares to sets like 42077, that set is roughly the same scale, has the same features, but in a generic shell, rather then a porsche/ferrari, and costs just slightly over half of this ferrari, going by list price we (in the netherlands) are paying 80 euros for having a ferrari shell rather then a generic one, which is a bit... much imho And lets not forget that 42077 itself at the time was criticized for low feature count, its ancestors, 42039 and 42000, while both slightly more expensive, had a simple gearbox to drive two manual mechanical functions (opening engine cover/DRS on 42000, opening doors/engine cover on 42039), which could also be automated by PF. In essence, 42077 has the same automotive features as 42037, a €55 set. I can see the appeal in the set, as i said before, this is pretty much what i dreamed of when i had the enzo and 599 on the shelf, but after the GT3RS and Chiron, i dont think i can go backwards this much, i like building intricate designs, this one seems lacking in that respect.
