  1. Nice teaser, doesnt really tell us anything new from what i can see, but for that price and part count im at least interested. I wonder if it will have a B-model, i like 42093s B-model more then the A-model. Also makes me wonder when we will see oficial pics and info released, originally Sariel was to post a review of this set tomorrow, but i understand that has been delayed.
  2. Sariel has apparently said he will post a review on nov 19th, so that means that by nov 18th, lego themselves would have probably announced them officially.
  3. @howitzer If you can build one from spares, all the better! As for wheels, watch out for the fact that the chiron and sian have brake discs, and a different offset on the wheels, so they wont fit on the porsche properly, and vice versa, without also swapping the hubs. And alternate option would be the wheels/tires from 42000, as they have the same outer diameter, but they might be a bit narrower, they will also look a tad weird on a supercar, but should be much cheaper, the wheels on that set are about as common as they get.
  4. No new since the leaked catalog pics on the entire lineup AFAIK, so no clue. Might be an F1 car even, and all this colour-discussion is moot :P
  5. The resale value of the lego sets is also rather closely tied to the insane offers going around, even if i paid €300 for the Chiron (and the MSRP is €400 over here), the €250 offers will dictate that there is no way im getting over ~€220 for it without the box. @howitzer Is buying used an option for you? I bought my GT3RS from a guy who got it on a good sale, built it, then resold it, because while he liked building, he didnt have the space to keep a big collection, that way he got to experience the build, knock a few tenners off the price and resell it. Doing the same with a used set will obviously limit your losses even more.
  6. Might be a translation error, he could mean rationality as in the ratios in the vehicle. TBH, i think neither car (as in the real things) are particularly beautifull, The chiron (and veyron before it) look a bit too massive and cumbersome to me, while the Sian looks a tad overstyled, there are just too many lines, and the lights/nose... Neither car will stand out as a design classic in 30-40 years, while i suspect the Murciellago or Aventader will. @thekoRngear is ordering extra parts through bricklink an option for you? If that is the case i would recommend the Chiron and going for the "pimped up" build. I havent done that to my Chiron yet, but i did build the GT3RS in pimped up spec, and i rate that well above the Chiron. I would expect a pimped up Chiron to be a nicer experience then a stock Sian. Then two years down the line when all the Sian mods are done and documented, you can pick up the Sian and build that in proper modded spec.
  7. This is quite an interesting topic, and im happy to see it discussed openly on this forum. I feel like brands like CADA which offer original designs (whether inhouse or contracted like Bruno) offer a ligitimate option for AFOLs, and in time might move Lego to step up their design game. (given how generally the top minds of our community tend to come up with more complex and better designs then lego's own top sets). On the topic, i think the CADA set will be more challenging, as it doesnt need to meet lego's strict design guidelines, and will also offer more features and authenticity. Also, if you've already built the Chiron, i dont think the Sian brings anything new to the table, mechanism wise. (which to me, is a big downside, considering i feel like the Chirons paddleshift is a downgrade from the porsche one). I also think the CADA set looks better, but that might be down to me just thinking the Ferrari 488 is one of the best looking modern sportscars out there, and the Sian isnt particularly handsome. The whole China-thing does mean i havent bought a CADA set though, and probably wont. I have no problems buying other brands then Lego (Ive got a decent collection of Cobi tanks), but i do not feel comfortable supporting China as a country and system if i do not have to (try buying a mobile phone without sponsorring china..), but that is a decission everyone has to make for themselves. If the CADA set had been made by a non-chinese company (say Cobi), i would have bought one over the Sian in a heartbeat.
  8. Thats a pretty cool device, the controllable speed on the wheels and feed mechanism are a nice touch. Do you notice any slowdown of the flywheels when running high rate of fire though? I have a few Nerf flywheel powered blasters, and on those shooting a round slows down the flywheels a bit, to the point where shooting a few rounds in quick succesion means the later rounds all slow down and fly less far.
  9. Considering all Sians suffer from this to some extent, i doubt lego will want to acknowledge this as a valid reason for replacement parts Another problem would be that given the various colour inconsistencies, there is no guarantee that a replacement part will match your build better then the original part you got, even if the new part 100% matches the colour spec lego set out to worj with, if your surrounding parts are off a little too, it might still cause a visible discrepancy. At this point i think this is an "accept it for what it is" type deal, either you are fine paying this price for the Sian as it is, colour problems and all, or you are not and your options are waiting for a fix that might never happen, or be OK with not getting a Sian at all. Given that earlier sets with lime green also showed some variation in parts colour before the Covid business happened, i wouldnt expect a 100% perfect set either way
  10. The headlights are too high and bulbous, i changed mine so the front end of the canopies drops below the panels in front, meaning they looks less like a bubble sitting on top of the car.
  11. The jeep and senna will be the same size as the corvette, so roughly half that of the 911, not really comparable As for technical advancement, even IF the jeep has proper suspension, it wont have a proper engine, and i will eat my proverbial hat if it has awd, steering and suspension, imho people are expecting way too much out of it
  12. Neither am i, i get that there is Fast and Furious branding all over the box, but if you look past that and delete the nitrous bottles and perhaps fix the blower, it is just a pretty good looking muscle car As for the supercars, i totally get that, and i wasnt really advocating moving from the ~$100 range to those sets, more pointing out that if you get 42096, and ever get close to a 42056, you will forever feel like 96 is a bit of a poor man's porsche. I have my 56 sitting proudly on display, and i just cant get myself to drag 96 out of storage, That is all personal i guess, to me my pimped up 56 blows 83 away, and given that 115 doesnt bring much new to the table other then looks (which im not 100% sold on), im guessing that if i were to get 115, i will still prefer pimped 56 to it. As for not getting 111, i dont know, the F&F branding might be a double edged sword causing lots of people to not take it seriously as a technic set, but any petrolhead with an appreciation for american muscle should totally get it IMHO, stripping it back to a non-F&F spec car is peanuts, and it provides a good base to make your own version of a charger (as long as it is black :P)
  13. Agreed, a 612 or something would just look plain wrong in red, and 550/575/599 etc.. all work very well in more understated colours an F8 (or any of its predecessors) though? Red is the only option, the only thing possibly worse would be a red lamborghini
  14. have you considered 42111? In terms of car features, it has 42096 beat, more interesting suspension and all. 42096 is a decent display piece, but it gets blown away by 42056
  15. oh man, a purple ferrari with a new part unique in that colour, just imagine all the rage if they pull that one... Yeah, i wouldnt mind a yellow supercar, but if they put out the first proper technic ferrari in about a decade and not make it red, im gonna cry. (yeah yeah, hyperbole, if it has a prancing horse on it, and the engine in the back it has to be red, end of)
  16. Personally i think we might just see something more interesting then a 42096 reshell, 42111 already gave us something different for the $99 car set then previous years. Now i realize that a ferrari wont have a solid rear axle, so double wishbone it will be, but at the €180 pricepoint, i just cant imagine they wont add another feature over the Porsche RSR, maybe a gearbox or active aero? Either way, im prepared to be disappointed though, i couldnt really imagine 42096 being just a 42077 re-shell with a 50% price hike, but that is what we got. I do see myself getting that ferrari, unless they reaaaaally mess up, like not make it red or something....
  17. @Bartybum the corvette doesnt have a proper piston engine, i think that is what Jurss means. As for features in general, i dont expect anything more then the corvette, that way i might be positively surprised rather then disappointed, realisticly i dont expect proper piston engines, and while 4x4 might be an option in the scale, that pretty much rules out front suspension imho, as i dont see an official lego set fitting suspension, steering and drive in that width/size. And im probably in the minority here, but im way more interested in the McLaren, wondering if it brings anything new to the table, or if it is just a corvette reskin.
  18. Read @Ngoc Nguyen s post a from october 8th, apparently recent sets are better, but still not flawless (which imho, isnt to be expected)
  19. 42074 had a suspended rear axle as well, with a diff I wouldnt expect it though, if the jeep is "42093 scale", that means very little room for movement in the axles, of just room between the wheels to begin with, and id expect the part count to mostly go to making it look like a jeep rather then functions. Id love to be proven wrong though
  20. That would point to at least one of the actual sets being a McLaren, maybe the speedtail? That is closely related to the 720s, and there arent any newer roadcars worth exploring imho though. So maybe a new F1 set?
  21. Any experiences with recently bought Sians here? From what ive heard lego has publicly acknowledged the colour issues, and fixes are supposed to be implemented, which should at last fix panel colour consistency If they manage to fix the panel/beam colour issues, i might be able to see past the pinhole w/axle thing and seriously consider getting one
  22. Oof, that will have a LOT of stickers, those GTE cars have a sick livery, but that is not going to be a lot of panels left unstickered Still, i'd absolutely love a #51 AF Corse Le-mans GTE-pro car, i just hope they do a slightly better job on the proportions then with the 911 RSR
  23. The Mclaren looks interesting enough, i wonder what the internals look like. The wheel arches do look printed, as i dont see the tell-tale sticker edge on them. The Jeep looks like a pretty cool classic-ish technic vehicle, i hope it has some decent functions for that old school vibe. On the same pic i also see an off-road vehicle, but promobricks lists the price as €130, which suggest control-plus, sadly.
  24. The speed champions lineup this year already shows that when licenses are involved, all logic goes out the window (two jaguars > €40, two lambos > €60), but i cant really see Jeep commanding a higher license fee then McLaren Perhaps the senna has more system style pieces to make up curves and details, versus large (bespoke?) panels on the jeep?
  25. That is a lot of license, a corvette sized Jeep and McLaren and a 42096 replacement ferrari The 18+ label confuses me though, unless it isnt on 42096 scale and more like this , i dont see any complexity justifying 18+ happening.
