  1. Looks great! but it it would destroy the train, track, and infrastructure on takeoff. (it doesn't really matter though, cause in this situation you'd have bigger issues to worry about, like the survival of humanity as a species in the event of WWIII) In all seriousness, it looks pretty cool!
  2. ...and more Harry potter, plus two town models: Double deck bus - 2014 version Topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=100472 LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1411148671m.lxf Traffic Lights & Street signs Topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=100472 LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1396637910m.lxf #4 Privet Drive & Flying Ford Anglia Topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=100469 LDD link: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1409775098m.lxf
  3. In my original version, I based the model off of the 2004 Harry Potter set 4755, the Knight Bus. The model was quite tall and very top-heavy, plus it had a black Fabuland staircase attached to the back, making it not able to go over bumps in the road or railway level crossings. This bus features a rear staircase and removable floors with plenty of seats. Contains this stair case in black: http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=2046 (It's not in Lego Digital Designer, sadly.) Now I have my new version, inspired by the 2011 set 4866, which was also called the Knight Bus. It is two bricks shorter, with no back staircase to keep it from grounding on level crossings. The rear features the entryway to the bus, along with a railing, rear bumper and single tail light. Here we see that the roof and upper level a removable, and are even grouped individually in Lego Digital Designer to allow for easy access. The bus even fits under my traffic lights by 1/3 of a stud... my old bus could not even come close to fitting under this! According to LDD Manager, this model is also available in Dark bluish gray or white instead of reddish brown... although many more colors are possible with slight modifications. The LDD file for the bus is available here: http://www.mocpages....1411148671m.lxf Comments, questions, and complaints are welcome as always. Also, If anyone wants the LDD file for the traffic lights I used, here they are: http://www.mocpages....1396637910m.lxf
  4. This model is a modified version of the 2014 set 76015, Dock Ock Truck Heist. It was inspired by eurotrash48903 and his own MOD of the set to be 7 wide. I didn't change it quite as much as him, but I did follow his lead in several spot, such as shortening the frame by 2 studs and getting rid of the ridiculously over-sized original wheels. The roof and front have been strengthened and a door added to the rear, as their was none before. Here is the original set: http://www.bricklink...m.asp?S=76015-1 Front view. I strengthened the rods on the front grille / fender, among other things. Rear view showcasing the door and rear fender. Here is a link to the inspiration for this MOD, eurotrash48903 and his thread: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=100384 Here is the 100% build-able model in LDD file format: http://www.mocpages....1411148366m.lxf NOTE: In the LDD file, the model is partially grouped. Those parts are the ones that come in the 76015 Dock Ock Truck Heist set. The UN-grouped parts are the ones that I modded the truck with.
  5. Here is a revamped and revised version of Harry Potter set 4728, Escape from Privet Drive. It includes a updated 1959 Ford Anglia 105E (in medium blue of course!) and an enlarged house, with a lamp by the front door and a printed number four tile below that. (The tile print isn't in LDD yet) This is what the house looks like when it is closed. It doesn't look that great, but it certainly looks better than it it did in the original 2002 set! (Link to the set: http://brickset.com/...om-Privet-Drive ) The house features a upstairs bedroom with bed, chest-of-drawers, and a lamp. The ground floor features a table with two chairs, couch and a fireplace. This car is based on the Ford Anglia 105E, which was made from 1959 to 1968. It had a 997 cc overhead-valve straight-4 with an oversquare cylinder bore for an engine and a four-speed (manual) gearbox with synchromesh on the top three forward ratios. (this was replaced by an all-synchromesh box in September 1962.) ...And no, the flying gear is / was NOT a standard feature! The estate car version was tested by British "Motor" Magazine in 1959 and reached a top speed of 73.8 MPH (118.8 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 26.9 seconds. (The version I built is the 2 door saloon) The inspiration for this model (and basis for most of it's design) was the 2002 Harry Potter set 4728, Escape from Privet Drive. The info above was read off of Wikipedia and retyped / rearranged. This particular model seen here is the 1959 version, complete with backward slanting rear window which supposedly kept it clear of rain... at least, that's what the advertisements said! The interior seating is not prototypical of the real car and does not really seat figures. HOWEVER, the model is modifiable to include doors which will allow two figures to sit inside. Also, the trunk opens to reveal a large luggage compartment. The car seen here is a heavily modified mash-up of sets 4728 and 71006, (Simpsons House, specifically the car) I used the same basic premise as the original Harry Potter set, but with the modern techniques and parts of the Simpsons pink car. I have the opening trunk and interior of the original set but I removed the opening doors on the premise of "it looks better and is much stronger". Now, I know this house isn't very accurate to the Movie / real location... It is more of a mash up of what the set was, and what could have been if it had been updated. The LDD file is right here, in case anyone wants it: http://www.mocpages....1409775098m.lxf
  6. Thanks! This is kinda like my take on the concept, based on official Lego sets and using techniques used in other sets.. A "what-if?" or a "could-of-been", if you will. Thank you! This model is 100% compatible with LEGO train system, though it is un-powered, like in the original Harry Potter sets. You would need a powered coach to push this engine along, if you really wanted to do so.
  7. Completely unofficial Hogwarts railways logo made by me and inspired by a Google search. What do you think?
  8. Sorry for this fourth-in-a-row post! GWR Hall class 4-6-0 steam engine #5607 (updated version) LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1411054082m.lxf (This has also been posted in the Licensed forum, but because it's also UK train related, I put it here too.) Hogwarts Castle #5972 This locomotive is a heavily modified version of LDDModelmaker's Black 5 model. I have added stripes and a LOT more over the last 6 months or so. The numbers 5 9 7 2 go on the sides of the tender... it's not prototypical, I know, but it works well enough. The tender features a three wheeled bogie design modified from the one in Anthony Sava's ALCO MRS-1. The middle axle moves side to side, as to allow going through switches and curves without issue. Hogwarts Express Four BR Mark 1 coaches painted in Hogwarts Railways colors. The coaches include two corridor coaches, one corridor guard's coach, and a baggage coach. The end car is not accurate the the films, but it is what I prefer compared to the alternative: a gangway leading nowhere with no red light on the end. LDD file for the train AND engine: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1410985699m.lxf Hogsmeade Station This station is the terminus for the Hogwarts Express on it's school-ward journey. The platform is four tracks long, with the possibility of adding more sections due to the modular design. Their are two end-caps, two platforms and one station structure. Four benches are also included on the platform sections. This part is supposed to be on the tan 1x4 sign out front ( http://www.bricklink...asp?P=2431pb022 ) but LDD doesn't have the print. 9. I have Autism (specifically Asperger Syndrome) and Lego helps me very much. I may obsess over it a bit (60 trains and counting!) but it is very soothing at the same time. I can sit down and build something and my Brother (also autistic) will come over and help with it, which sometimes works out well, other times not. LEGO also helps me make some friends through Train shows and LUG meetings and I even have friends with other types of disorders who can't really concentrate on the instructions, but love to build. I read the instructions and we plow through it together, one step at a time, one piece here, another there... LEGO is probably the best therapy tool that was not designed for such usage in the world.

  11. Leaving from Kings Cross' Platform 9 & 3/4 to Hogsmeade Station at exactly 9 AM, this train carries students (and sometimes faculty) to and from Hogwarts' School of Witchcraft & Wizardry in the Harry Potter series of books and movies. NOTE: Students leaving school (for reasons including Christmas vacation or expulsion) are subject to leaving on the Hogwarts express. The Express is made up of four corridor coaches though sometimes a special fifth coach is attached with an open floor plan. The train is supplied with all kinds of goodies and sweets, from Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans to Chocolate Frogs. The locomotive is a 4-6-0 (that means 4 leading, 6 driving, 0 trailing) Hall class steam engine built by the Great Western Railway and later used by Hogwarts Railways. It is named Hogwarts Castle and numbered 5972, which is something of an irony as the Hall class is closely related to the Castle class of steam engines, so "It's the Hall that thinks it's a Castle". Four BR Mark 1 coaches painted in Hogwarts Railways colors. The coaches include two corridor coaches, one corridor guard's coach, and a baggage coach. The end car is not accurate the the films, but it is what I prefer compared to the alternative: a gangway leading nowhere with no red light on the end. This locomotive is a heavily modified version of LDDModelmaker's Black 5 model with some parts from set 79111, Constitution Train Chase. The numbers 5 9 7 2 go on the sides of the tender... it's not prototypical, I know, but it works well enough. The tender features a three wheeled bogie design modified from the one in Anthony Sava's famed ALCO MRS-1. The middle axle moves side to side, as to allow going through switches and curves without issue. The sideways stripes are also a Sava inspired feature, and are derived from his American 4-6-0. Hogsmeade Station (Version 1) This station is the terminus for the Hogwarts Express on it's school-ward journey. The inside features a ticket desk, and post box on the lower floor, while the upper floor features a station masters office space with a desk on the right side, and a switch / signal machine on the left. Two fireplaces (one per floor) keep the building nice and cozy during those cold winter days. These models are grouped separately in the LDD file: 2 Platform end-caps 1 Platform, left 1 Platform, right 1 Station, ground level 1 Station, second floor, 1 station roof Here is the street side. Notes: This model is based off of the building in set 10132, Hogwarts Express, from 2004. (motorized edition) The LEGO Digital Designer files for the Hogwarts Express train cars, Hogwarts Castle locomotive, & Hogsmeade station are available here: Hogwarts Express train coaches: http://www.mocpages....1426728491m.lxf Hogwarts Castle 5972 steam locomotive: http://www.mocpages....1426728306m.lxf Hogsmeade Station: http://www.mocpages....1412793766m.lxf Thank you for reading. 12. I really like what you have done. I recently modified the platform to break in half so that I could store it easier... screenshot: It really helps in transporting it around, either to my Local GatewayLUG meeting or shows. New LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1410556895m.lxf
  13. Thank you! I'm very glad you liked the model, and it does kinda give off a tropical vibe, though for me it screams Southern California as a generic Southern Pacific station. Also, I just finished this station last month... i kinda put the station on the back burner, sand forgot about it until I wanted to show it in completed from off at a local LUG meeting. Thanks again!

  15. Besides Duplo, there has never been a Thomas & Freinds / Railway Series theme in LEGO. "System" means not Duplo (or the older Modulex & Quatro lines), but the good old brick we have known and loved since the 1950's. Thanks for looking at my pages too.
  16. I for one really like your models, as they have a classic LEGO feel abut them (Especially the Bertie the bus). I think you and your son are doing a wonderful job with the Island of Sodor, and the background in the first picture is very good for a 6 year old! You remind me of why I started building my UK models in the first place: to sort-of replicate the wooden models of my childhood in LEGO, albeit with my own twist. Keep it up, and maybe you will be called a Really Useful Engine! By The way: They need an official LEGO Railway Series theme in System scale!
  17. Thank you, and yes it does look like Toronto TTC, along with quite a few other transit systems as well.
  18. "Clang, clang, clang went the trolleyDing, ding, ding went the bell" - The trolley song (as sung by Judy Garland in the movie "Meet me in St Louis".) This 1930's PCC (Presidents’ Conference Committee) streamlined streetcar was originally designed in LEGO by Flickr user jwolfe7. I copied some of the design using his helpful instructions and added side skirts inspired by James Mathis' design from over a decade ago. Combined together, these features provided the groundwork for this streetcar, which is in 1940's St. Louis Public Service Company colors. The James Mathis-designed wheels can turn a complete 360 degrees. There is a slight gap between the car-body and wheel-set, but that is a price to pay for this design. See here for the original Brickshelf page for the wheels, dating from 2002. Here is the rear of the car. The pole on top of the car moves up and down signifying when the car is in operation (pole up and in contact with the "wires") while down represents the car is not in operation due to technical problems or in storage in the car barn. Below in the spoiler tag you will find my original version of this car from 2014. The LDD file for the newer version is here. Comments, question and complaints welcome!
  19. Sorry for the double post! When I started redoing the fourteen year old set 5935, (Island Hopper) I wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible. I kept the nose almost the same as the set, and all I did rework were the engines. As time went by, I reworked everything but the front of the plane, trying in vain to keep it's classic LEGO look. Eventually, I realized it would just be better to use newer parts to rework the nose to a more modern standard. The version you see here was not my first choice. The part I wanted for the nose unfortunately does not come in red yet. (This piece is the one I wanted to use: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=11293 ) So I went with the next best thing, which is what you see here in this screenshot. The rear of the plane. Fictional background: Built in 1920 by Seaplane Solutions Incorporated for Aero-Sea Cargo Limited, a trans-Mediterranean shipping service headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt. Eventually, the main pilot (Harry Cane) realized what his usual cargo was: stolen Ancient Egyptian artifacts and sometimes even whole mummies in shipping crates. Knowing the Authorities would do nothing unless proof was given as to what was happening, Harry decided to fly his plane straight to the police with a stolen mummy inside. Needless to say, the police took the plane and the mummy and shut down Aero-Sea Cargo Limited. They tried to arrest the hook-handed owner, but he had fled the country. For his bravery, Harry got to keep the plane, and made a new friend: Johnny Thunder who was near the police station at the time of the arrests, looking for clues to a certain Ruby. Johnny went up to Mr. Cane and congratulated him, whereupon they became fast friends. The plane was not used in the search for the Re-Gou Ruby, but was used in the Dino Island fiasco in 1923, when it was piloted by journalist & accomplished pilot Pippin Reed, who latter went to work for Harry Cane at his new shipping company Overhead shot showcasing the elongated fuselage, and longer wingspan. The lane separates into five parts as described here: -The body of the plane -left wing tip -right wing tip -tail -cargo hatch There is an interior, but is not accessible at this time. LDD file for the pane: http://www.mocpages....1408889173m.lxf From left to right: Alexis Sinister = Sister of Lord Sam Sinister. She is completely evil and slightly unhinged while being crack shot with any weapon. She hates Johnny Thunder to an extreme extent after he refused to join Sinister in his diabolical schemes. Last seen on Dino Island escaping to places unknown while the island was sinking. Sam Sinister = Brother of Alexis Sinister, and Lord of Sinister Manor. Sam lost his left hand in World War I while in the British Army. He later replaced it with a polished steel hook which is as cold as his heart. Johnny Thunder = Australian adventurer extraordinaire and friend to all those in need. Met Sam Sinister in 1917 when Sinister was in a field hospital for his hand and Johnny was recovering from slight case of shell shock. They have been against each other ever since then. Miss Pippin Reed = This former lead reporter for Adventurer Times was reporting on a Dr. Kilroy's 1920 discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead when she met Johnny Thunder at a dig site near Cairo, Egypt. They have been good friends ever since, even though Ms. Reed happens to be an better aviator than Johnny. Jack Hawkins = Friend of Johnny Thunder and former US Naval Officer. Currently owns the Delta Queen coastal steamer and runs a freight shipping company with Pippin Reed as chief aviator and Harry Cane as lead mechanic. He met Johnny after the Great War's end when Johnny was looking for a way to get home to Australia via the Suez Canal. Not shown: Major Quentin Steele = Former British Army officer (and Sinister's former commander, whom Sinister still hates today) This Monster Fighter lost his eye in 1912 due to a fight with a certain Werewolf, whom he later tracked down and defeated. He has signed on to Johnny Thunder's team to fill in for the deceased Dr. Charles Kilroy after his unfortunate heart attack. Harry Cane = Former British army mechanic and technical / inventive genius. He was snubbed by his fellow mechanics and senior officials for his work on a failed prototype tank during World War I, along with a small zeppelin. He later became friends with Johnny Thunder after the war when Thunder wanted to learn to fly. Mr. Cane is currently running the repair shop end of Jack Hawkins' shipping company alongside Pippin Reed.
  20. What about this part for the funnel: From BL (and in black of course!) Part listing: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=75535 Does this help?
  21. Classic Space Epsilon II Base: Fictional Back-story: The legendary 1970-something space guy, (also known as George) opened the Epsilon II Base in 1986, just in time for the Great Divide of 1987. (also known as the formation of the Blacktron) They made their base on the nearby ice world of Imperium and threatened to invade Epsilon II. The classic base was put on lock-down as George waited to receive an order of heavily armored and armed Exo-suits. (However that ship was intercepted by an unknown force and crashed on a world in a far-off uncharted sector of the galaxy.) George's situation back on Epsilon II soon became desperate as the supposed time of arrival for the Exo-suits came and went. Blacktron soon surrounded the world, drawing ever closer to the lone outpost and it's large fuel dump. By 1991 however, the Space Police had been formed and routed the nearby Blacktron stronghold of Imperium. The remaining siege fleet of Blacktron ships fled to the Galactic Deep Core to lick their wounds. The first Classic Space ship that landed on Epsilon in four years was commanded by a young Benny, who was sent to relieve the original commander George as he was retiring to a small lunar outpost. Benny has since been given fame in the LEGO Movie and the honrary title of 1980-something space guy. Real world notes: This model was inspired by my brother's Space Police IV base, but with a bunch of changes, which itself was the un-released Lego Yavin VI set. Thanks to Crabboy329 for the LDD file link in the LDD MOCs thread! This base fits two Classic star-fighters from LEGO Universe and one Benny's Spaceship. It also has two computers and one statue of George (the first commander of Epsilon II base.) There are two staircases to the ground floor and one to the tip-top where the statue is located. There is a doorway between the control rooms and a staircase to the main landing pad where Benny's ship sits. The XL base-plate (where the main base sits) and the large landing pad separate via Technic pins. The two smaller pads and the walkways disconnect from the base via the same system. LDD file for the whole setup: (removed) I would have posted this model when it was built in LDD back in July, but I figured since no-one had commented on this thread, no one would care either way.
  22. New LDD files: Gray Cannonball BR Mark 2 train coaches Topic link: http://www.eurobrick...50#entry1972554 LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1408298417m.lxf Thank you for reading!
  23. Sorry for the triple post, but I finished another model I was working on earlier. Gray Cannonball BR Mark 2 train coaches These coaches are modeled after the ones in the Emerald Night set. However instead of being pulled by that engine, these are pulled by the BR Class 9F 5802 in matching gray scale color scheme. (5802 is not included included in the LDD file) The doors still open, and the roof of each car is still removable. These cars feature just seats inside instead of tables, chairs and a cabinet like in the original 10194 set. Train name: Gray Cannonball Car Types: Baggage (1) Coach (3) Guard Coach (1) Configuration (per car): 4 wheels on two bogies Class: Mark 2 class passenger stock Designer: British Railways Build Date: 1966 Builder: British Railways Current Owner: Lego Rail Transport Society (LRTS) Length: 30 studs Width: 6 studs Height: 10 bricks NOTE: The LDD model has 64 window glass parts of to the side as the frames don't allow them to connect in LDD, but they so in real life Lego sets LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1408298417m.lxf
  24. Sorry for the double post, but here is my newest addition: BR Class 56-X prototype diesel locomotive Fictional Background: This is the Prototype British Rail Class 56, called BR 56-X. It was built in 1975 by Brush Traction as a test bed for several ideas for the Class 56. The cost of the engine was so great (and Brush Traction could not handle the order) that the production model was instead outsourced to Romanian firm Electroputere, where it was cheaper and the production was quicker. However, the first 30 engines Electroputere produced were deemed "unsatisfactory" by British Rail due to poor construction standards. (They were seen as being perfectly reasonable for use in Romania by the Romanian crews who tested them though!) They were then built from there on out at British Railway Engineering Limited (BREL) at Doncaster & Crewe Works. The production engine was considered a success, and lasted until 1984 with a grand total of 135 (plus the prototype) being built. The 56-X has several features not seen on the production model, such as ladder to the roof just behind the front cab on the left. The diesel power plant has a top speed of 85, five miles above the latter models top speed. The engine was given to LEGO Rail Transportation Society in 1977, after production of the Class 56 had commenced and the X was no longer needed. The engine is currently painted in a red with black vents color scheme and carries number 6670. Statistics: Engine Number: 6670 Engine Type: Diesel, heavy freight Configuration: Co-Co Engine Class: 56-X Designer: Brush Traction Build Date: 1975 Builder: Brush Traction Current Owner: Lego Rail Transport Society (LRTS) Length: 46 studs Width: 6 studs Height: 10 bricks Top Speed: 85 MPH Real story: The BR Class 56 does exist, but not the X prototype. The 56 really was outsourced to Electroputere for the first 30, and they were rebuilt to BR standards by BREL, who then built all the other 105 engines of this type. My credit goes to William Howard and his superb instructions, as seen here: https://www.flickr.c...57623228627767/ I highly suggest anyone building UK trains to look at his models / instructions. The first posted has been updated as well.
