  1. Very cool bus! Big question remains: what is minifig scale for you? I recently did one in - well - lets call it a "perfected" minifig scale, where the minifig is as high as a human in real life (170cm). Therefore i have all proportions data taken from wikipedia and merged that into this model. Its almost a perfect 1/42 scale replica when it comes to sizing it down. HIPPEEEY BUS! by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr And you can see its sizing next to a fig here. the math and the height! by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr Only figs wont fit in.... but the fig is the same height, as say a real picture of a person standing next to it http://vintagebus.com/gallery/section/image/2102066.JPG
  2. in my opinion way more accurate in proportions! excellent 8 wide. For the front its going to be hard! every other technique giving it something more angular will only enlengthen the front...i think its fine as it is!
  3. Whilst ive recently been taking a break from building, here is a little something i wanna throw in just cause i found some time for this: Bugatti Chiron Its going to be an SC Set next year, so i was inspired to make one in my own scale of 1/42. 6 studs wide = 2m (real data wikipedia 2,04 m) 13,5 studs long = 4,6 m (real data wikipedia 4,5 m ) 3,2 vertical studs high = 1,1 m (real data wikipedia 1,2 m) Minifig is 170 cm high (average human height male + female sizes due to wikipedia) So, i got very close to the real size proportions this time ;) Its a bit lower than it would need to be, but since the tires are a tiny bit smaller than "large rims", it helps keep the wheels looking a little bit bigger! what do you think? critique and feedback welcome! 4. hmm, to be honest the new Bugatti has all the features needed, but still rather fails to impress me. It looks boxy, like a running shoe and the new SC large Wheels dont help making it any sleeker. A really tuff one, also very hard to recreate in smaller scales than SC, so i'd just "accept" it. Definately not the favorite of the bunch. The stickers and parts however can be very useful ;-) The AMG really steals the show of the single cars choice. The "extra" hood in the background is shorter and probably intended for a "non racing" version (?) . I think it can easily be modified to not have that long front bumper. Best thing definately is the Fords GT duo - The GT 40 is rather unusual for SC and i thought it to be too "weak" in front structure design to be released, compared to the recent SC sets who are solid as rock :P Good choice TLG (if it really happens and they aint fooling us with fake leaked pics^^) The Wind Channel looks interesting in design and function - gotta wait for a front view of that Ferrari on it!
  5. Hey nemo, many thanks for stopping by and leaving your positive input! The scale is 1/42 , so the minifig is 170 cm high (5 studs) You know, that Ford Truck in the picture really represents what TLG Town scale must look like in real life with "non-small-human-minifigs".
  6. Never built a modular, but what i see here, really caught my attention - so much, that i would now totally love building one like this There actually is no better fit than this dark turqoise! Simply because its the opposite (contrast) colour of red-orange. Well thought through! Using the contrasts of colour circles is pure magic - as seen here - and always works Combined with all the nice facade details and the white aspects it rounds this build up very nicely! I would also be interested in seeing a larger layout with your other modular builds :) cheers
  7. just love it! amazing design The shaping seems very genuine for the volvo brand! TOP JOB! All the lil details round it up very nicely. May i ask what scale was used? or did you build it all from the looks of pictures? cheers!
  8. Thanks man! It really aint easy working in 1/42, but i do enjoy the puzzeling of small pieces haha^^ That LeMons Van of yours is amazing - if you ever want to see this in your decals, just ask ;) Definately the T3 Vanagon is one of the coolest ever - whatever the scale :D cheers
  9. wow, this is really great! The design is perfect - and the scale still "relatively" small for including that many details <3 The T3 is one of my alltime favorites (also thanks for commenting on mine!) I think this would look also very cool with an "creator" box design! Still great idea for a "larger" speed champions theme! (i mean, the old "racers" theme also included different scales of vehicles!) BTW how is the box design done? is there like a specific programm? - would really like to try something like that for my own T3 ;) cheers!
  10. Many thanks man, the idea with the deployable fin will have further use in the future ;) haha, well - i just love cars buddy! But still, i find interest in Space stuff - more than i would like, cause now i got to many "constructions sites" in LDD! xD thanks for liking it that much and leaving your input. Infact the windscreen is trans clear, but the black housing around it, prevents the render from showing it in true clarity. If you look very very closely, you can see through :D True, functions and detail always comes at a cost - i will try get my hands on bricks for this one. But that might take some time. Til then, i cant really garante its super firm, yet everything is connected^^ Many thanks - and that all the way from the train forum? ;D awesome!

  13. After the T3, i had to go further back in the models origin - to the more popular "T1", also known as "hippie bus" or "Bulli" (called in germany) Enjoy, feel the vibes and peace! The front HIPPEEEY BUS! by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr the back end - in this case the one of the T3, but its practically the same, just that i put round headlights on the T1 where as in here there are the cheese slopes. 14. Many thanks! very helpful advice!!!
  15. really amazing designs! Its not so often to see scissor lifts around here - this makes a perfect template! Also the liebherr is great
  16. Hello fellow City friends, I've just finished a Volkswagen T3 camping edition "Westfalia", "Caravelle CL" and a standard. The scale used is 1/42 and regarded by myself as minifig/city scale, for it uses 1,70m for a minifig being 5 vertical studs high (including head pin). It frankly wont fit any minifigs properly, since its 5,6 studs wide (1,80m) and i needed a lot of interiour structure for the roof and windows to stay in place In some renders i used non-transparts windows to give better contrast (bluerender aint good with trans! ). Critique and feedback always welcome, feel free to enjoy the pics Cheers, Ron. 17. No it was not. Simply because its not as well designed as the Ford GT40 (which really caught all viewers attention and screamed for a replica), i decided to only reverse engineer the classic. However, the 2016 GT is quite a simple fellow and i just found a possible LDD file for it. Cant garantee that this one is absolutely correct, but from the pics it looks very accurate! Cheers
  18. hi fellas, This is my first Spaceship i actually got to finish, so im quite new here. I usually build cars, so im really out of my comfort zone with this one^^ Tell me what you think of it! I tried getting it a retro, near future look with edges and a beaten up/heavy duty paintjob (just like the star wars rebel ships). It fits one fig and has movable engines + engine covers. Also 4 blaster guns are included in the main frame. Overall size is left small on purpose, so it can be like a dogfighter with small area of possible impact (thats why there are no wings;) ) cheers. 19. ...its actually rather tiny or "fat" - So either normal height and "fat" <-> or tiny and normal width ;-) I also read somewhere from someone, that figs were designed to represent baby dolls (tiny and normal) by their maker....but who knows, ey? Lego is old enough to have quite a few myths regarding it^^
  20. many thanks nemo! the ferrari really turned out good enough for me to order it in real bricks. So some better pics of a real model will come very soon :D wow, many thanks for that comment! Truly, it took some time to get used to that scale even myself. I started City scales way bigger before, so its quite a change now. But im glad i finally managed to "get going" in it, doing different cars than just Lamborghinis. I will also focus on more "normal" vehicles soon. The 5 wides layed the foundation for that ;-) see you around!
  21. Make sure you get us some pics ;) And yeah, that would also be my guess for why TLG meant not to produce it. Its not as firm as stone, like the other SCs. Sad fact though, if you want cool techniques and realistic look without stickers, it goes to the cost of stability - at least in my experience;) youre welcome, we also have to give credit to Prototype for redoing the back window (which i did wrong in the first version). Have fun with your new car ;-)
  22. very cool! Really like the height cutting to get it low, still using SC parts. Also a great deal of detail all around (vents etc) considering almost no snot was used!!!
  23. I personally scale from height measures of a 170cm human = 5 studs high minifig when it comes to "my town scale". So the vehicles vary in width like real (170 cm to 200 cm = 5 wide to 6 wide). Trucks 7 wide and trains 8 to 9 wide. It all depends on real life data - i just recalculate that by a scale of 1/41 into legos and - bang - its being build Works fine for everything... The funny side is that most cars irl are 180 cm, so the "exotic" scale of 5 wide tends to be the best for almost all cars by my measures :-D I think a poll about "how high do you build your cars?" will be even more interesting, since i believe thats where we all go into different directions
  24. i just finished a prototype with some spare parts i have - not a finished version, but just to check if its a possible LDD - to real bricks model^^ Just press into the black screen and you can see the vid over at flickr ;) How firm is it? - Testing... by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr
  25. Darn, seems like this builts piece ordering will be your ultimate challenge of patience :-/ you definately need to post it here once finished! Hope it wasnt my bad with the file or that i used a weird unnamed part here or there, which cracked up your import list. There are some parts that may do that, allthough i dont remember having used any of those... Good luck!
