  1. Great looking project. Allthough its decided, im really fond of your panel use;) for this rather small hatchback doors are the better solution...but for a sportscar with long wheelbase you could combine cheese piece plus functional panel maybe? Just a thought, many greets, ron.
  2. Nice techiques, very clean design! funny, i used the the large wheel fender aswell, but as a bumper on my mercedes AMG recently. its a perfect piece for a 6 wide! good choice man! BTW the binocular use for either headlights or exhaust pipes is done by several builders all the time, so no need to search for a "credit due". (as stated, its rather obvious, will be hard to find the originator). Keep up your good work, greets, ron.
  3. hi tommi, your modular style hospital is great, features a lot of nice details etc. But the garage and the Abulance itself look very simple and plain compared to the rest (the style just dont fit together). I would make the ambulance 6 wide (its a big vehicle afterall like a fire truck), so you can add realistic back doors and interiour. i would also use the 4x6 hood plates for the roof then. Concerning the garage, i would leave it and do a second entrance on ground level intstead where they can wheel the patients in. apart from that, good luck. with some minor changes i would definately support it;)
  4. great trucks! they do look a litlle *pimped* though, which i find nice, but not sure if you were aiming for it. also great building design, looks really suburban. in total a really nice scene. keep it up! greets, ron.
  5. hiya back! I havent heard of such a service. But not bad thinking, to place an order for a lego store to order and have someone pick it up or send to you by the store. But after reading this previous sentence, i find that a rather "un-easy procedure". GIven the fact, that BL is way cheaper, more parts availiable and allmost all of them international shipping. -> Search parts, buy at shop, pay and get it send to you....i fear it wont get any easier than this. I live in Europe, we got them stores, but why buy there?? except for brandnew or rare sets, single parts are totally overpriced for the bit of plastic they are. Often they have like 20 different types of bricks, i even been to a store where they only had "left-car doors" in grey at the pick a brick wall. Might have been a "bad one" though. I dont visit stores anymore... To give you an easy answer and sum things up, i dont consider this a good idea, despite the fact that i do not know if this is even possible. I believe pricing would be higher and you get less to choose from. AND you first have to ask and call around for it to happen. Hands down for internet buying, especially lego on BL hope this helped or someone knows better than me.... greets, ron.
  6. Yep, thats it. Looking great! The bendable technic parts for cabin are very creative and not so standard;) good choice! Now maybe a few more shots from the side, back and top and then its perfectly presented. It deserves it! Many greets, ron.
  7. the working suspension is great, 8 wide is a good choice. I just find the cab a bit unspectacular, it could use some interiour or even brick build headlights to blend in better into the town theme. Apart from that, this is really good work! keep it up mate, greets, ron.
  8. cool idea, very easy to use and still good looking in every option! good job, keep on brickin!
  9. Hi everyone! I'm new here on EB, and this is my first actual post for the town theme. A bit about myself: I make all kinds of cars in Minifig Scale, or better said: Minifig proportion. I try my best to make them as realistic, firm and buildable as possible - and fit at least 2 Minifigs side by side. Not an easy task most of the time - especially when my maximum width is 7 wide for large all terrain vehicles/ sportcars and 6 wide for standard and oldtimer cars. I bet some can relate I dont own any lego bricks, so i build LDD only. But im planing to order bricks soon from bricklink... Lets get started When i started off building cars in LDD, i had a hard time working out that height issue. The cars where always too high when i wanted to fit the figs in sitting upward, i even bended back a bit, but didnt really help either. As its well known, the issue for that is the minifig itself due to wide and short proportions (infant like). We will never get this right... BUT in my opinion, its also the modern way of building cars in general - which does "wierden" this whole car thing even more. Being a 90ies kid, i remember most of the car/town sets back then and when i compared to the car/town sets today, i noticed a major difference: wheel sizes! Nowadays, the lego company uses the same type of big wheels + fenders on almost all types of vehicles, be it a police car or a truck. So i went back "to the roots", used the smaller tires (from the mirco racers) for my cars, i layed the minifigs down as much as possible to get the car height right - and this came out! enjoy, tell me what you think my final result of an Lamborghini Aventador lp900 (currently being worked on in LDD to make a few things easier) This one has functional doors, a bendable roof and fits 2 minifigs side by side. its 7 wide in total (no fenders) Lego Lamborghini Aventador lp900 by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr my first design of an ultra sleek supercar, this time a 7 wide diablo (more simple design, easy brick usage, the windscreen is made of black hinge pieces) Lamborghini Diablo yellow front by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr NS LamDia top view render yellow by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr Lamborghini Diablo back view by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr NS Lamborghini diablo purple by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr the way it opens is by bending the roof back (hinge pieces at the back rear) NS Lamborghini diablo opended by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr the classic side view as found on the net: http://www.google.de...wIVwrcUCh2gRwrd Lamborghini Diablo black by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr now messing around with different lego themes: Paradiso Lambo by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr NS Lamborghini diablo police scene by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr classic space special forces diablo by Ron Dayes, auf Flickr hope you enjoyed, keep on brickin;) many greets, ron.
  10. Wow, nice locomotive! You got a hand for trains! :) i understand the radius/curve issue. Its actually historic and practical. I had one of the very old with blue rails at home, and cars of that era were 4 wide and brick built to not fit any figures. It was designed to fit in a "casual room" for kids to play in, doing narrow curves saves space - and lego parts, saving money for the company. They kept that practical issue until today. If we now take a look on a real train track, 1 single curve can be multiple kilometers long, in lego that could be a few meters^^ . A train doesnt turn right or left "just like that", thats why everything above 7 wide will not ride fluently or "train like" on lego rails - the curves are too narrow. What we did for 8 wide trains, was building a curve by adding curve-straight-curve etc.... until a "full curve" (9V) was done. It worked, and was looking quite realistic. Now having those modern bendable curve pieces in the new system, one could make an even better curve - its all a matter of space (and money) you got. Concerning the planes - well- an 8 wide plane is realistic, for example as a small liner or private jet, but yes, an actual passenger plane would have to be alot bigger. To be honest, the whole City Theme has serious scaling issues when one wants to be realistic, but since its designed as a toy and not models, its ok id say. A matter of personal taste after all;) lego aint perfect... Since you want a classic city layout, your choice of scaling is more than correct ;) Apart from all the scaling, im very interested to see your complete city moc one day :D keep it up, greets, ron.
  11. a keen eye for proportions, excellent MOCs! the blue Toyota is my favorite, whilst all are very recognisable! good job, greets, ron.
  12. Hey, sorry for keeping myself a bit short on my previous comment, was rather a fast reply. Nice of you to do a train in 10 wide, looking good, allthough it could kill due weight^^ - its possible, but why not give 8 or 9 wide a thought? i kind of disagree with 10 wide....Trains are not much wider than trucks, just higher and on rails. If you see a truck on a train, its a very close fit: http://www.swissinfo.ch/image/33370274/3x2/640/426/249db3676321bc3005e9c6d4682a7486/jF/p1050943-33370276.jpg . Here an example of someone having done a real good 8 wide in my opinion: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/384450. Anyway, you are very talented and you really have a nice collection of cars/buses and trains. Pls keep going, i really enjoy your posts;) greets, ron. why? trucks and trains are almost same in width.... the train being just a bit wider, but not as much as two whole studs (which is alot in minifig business). http://www.swissinfo.ch/image/33370274/3x2/640/426/249db3676321bc3005e9c6d4682a7486/jF/p1050943-33370276.jpg . greets, ron.
  13. @nemo, could you pls showcase the other cars aswell. Im really interested in the red one;) also the whites with yellow roofs...thanks in advance (if you want to ofcourse)
  14. Cool, lovely build - allthough i find 6 wide too narrow nemo, considering your standard cars are allready 6 wide, this truck needed to be at least 7 wide, better 8 wide to fit proportions and scaling.
  15. Sweet rides, clever designs! The convertible has a splendid roof technique! Definately a nice contribution for the car fraction. If you want, check mine out under http://www.mocpages.com/mocs.php?id=116455 . My older builds are somewhat similar ;) greets, ron.
  16. hi, welcome to eurobricks. My name is Ron and i make cars. If you like the new " female" themes, i bet you would also like this homage to the lego paradiso era http://mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=411384&id=/user_images/116455/14300508224 , another version of this could also interest your husband aswell to understand your passion about lego better;)
  17. Thanks everyone! Much appreciated:)
  18. nice Really nice phantoms! if i find time, i should try building a hotel aswell (never made a house MOC^^), since its the only place where my superscars could be at. good thinking of you;) looking forward to your complete Hotel theme :D
  19. Hey ER0L, this is a great post from you. I really like the Mustang , the oldtimer and the red and white diesel loco! i recently made a 9 wide train aswell, just a shame that a playable track would need a lot of space for only one curve. I guess thats why they made the trains 6 wide in the first place to have them more "room compatible"... have you made a track with curves for it?
  20. Hi everyone, Im new here and must try out posting etc. But if you want, you can have a look at my stuff over at http://mocpages.com/home.php/116455 Many greets, Ron
