  1. Hadn't thought about it before now, but would I be correct to assume that the only current option for a Japanese-themed faction would be Kaliphlin? Could even just say asian-themed and include Chinese and Korean styles as well, since it's historically appropriate given both cultural crossover and wars between them during the Japanese Warring States period and Nara and Heian prior. Reason I ask is I would have interest in such a place, but as Kaliphlin seems to be of a much wider scope, the guild structure and command, overall feel while playing, quite possibly wouldn't necessarily feel as far eastern (I can't say, not playing here and in fact only taking a peak just now). What are the odds of the introduction of new faction(s)? Likely low to none I presume as they would be greatly handicapped? Just curious really. I'm well involved in AG at the moment and haven't the time to do both - and certainly will not drop one to do another so would only join another if I was certain I could do both. My building speed and efficiency would need to increase as well as adjustments in how I use free time, so consider my inquiry simply one of curiosity.
  2. Thanks! Means a lot. Thanks to the judges too for putting in extra time on what was sure to be a tough week to judge.
  3. Congrats on your first build - first free build in longer than I can remember, first building game build. You did well! Kawashita is honored.
  4. Haha! I succeeded in doing that this week, but it took effort! I wanted to see everyone's builds (I always look at and read them all) and then in as many cases as possible also comment about something unique to their build. I was impressed with how many there actually were. Hats off to everyone for posting so much this week, but even more so to the judges.
  5. Late as I am to coming around to see these, they are really nice Bob!
  6. Really nice build That car has attitude!
  7. Really cool speeder! Looks great from all angles but I really like that front view.
  8. Ah thanks. I saw that it was Java so I just made the assumption that it would as most Java applications I run across are cross platform. I was pretty excited! Please do borrow a Mac if you could, when it fits your development schedule to look into it. I'd really love to be able to render projects and for Mac users there's a bit of demand as a few of the more common solutions do not work (or don't work easily).
  9. I love... everything.
  10. Fun build and story. Almost like a picture book - a one line sentence then turn the page and see the image (in this case check a link).
  11. I like the precarious quality and the two levels especially, but also as everyone else mentioned - the colors are really nice together.
  12. Really like the slick black rock with the lava framed by the touch of sandstone. Sometimes it just doesn't have to be more than that to pull off something that looks really good!
  13. The jet-ski is great and I think the angle really makes the build (not that the rest of it isn't good too).
  14. Great creature! Looks pretty scary but the build has an elegance about it and the color choice works throughout.
  15. Nice alien fauna. I really like the tree and it definitely looks like a pleasant stress relieving project.
  16. Great lava and yes! Zepher is right. Only a few of us actually found gold.
  17. Thanks for the much appreciated! Always welcome! Criticism too. From anyone. I went to art school so I am well versed in critiques. I have refrained thus far from the kind I'm most familiar with when at school when replying here as I wanted to focus only on the positives I see and the things I really like - to focus on encouragement. A good, constructive critique though does offer some ideas for improvement and learning and, when done well, does not come off as a negative. It's all good when you balance both and offer any insights you have, so I welcome any comments of that nature always. Did not know this. I was messing around with moving the camera and found I could get it just so to look through the camera in the build. I was not using it in conjunction with the hide tool. I'll play around some more. Don't think I have even used the hide tool. Oh I saw that but since I had a screenshot app I figured I'd just use that. Of course it makes sense that the built-in would remove the chrome. Good to know! I'm hoping someone replied. Bluerender 004 crashes right at launch for me (though a window opens for a brief moment and I have the correct Java - I'm on a Mac Bluerender I believe is cross platform as it uses Java). I was hoping to get a link to Bluerender 003 or an update to 004 as others have said it crashed for them - or advice or fix specific to my issue. Forgot to check to see if there were any replies yesterday or today. VERY much want to be able to start rendering... Thanks for the reminder. Thanks! Even better! I'm fond of keyboard shortcuts.
  18. Thanks so much! I'm glad everyone likes the reef because as much as the sub is the main part of the build, my being a pilot, it was the reef that became the central part of the story and what I really wanted to have the most impact. I really like the sub - I was happy to make the 180-degree cockpit idea work - but the reef I really put some TLC into.
  19. Thanks for the everyone. Very kind. I really wanted to make the reef look something quite like they are in real life. Spent a fair bit of time there. Hahaha Me too.
  20. Awe. Some. More to details, particularly like the clear 1x1 rounds inside the residential rings, the look of the residential rings in general, the modular quality and the wall of stars. The write up in and of itself is interesting - well thought out and drives home the epic scale. I was considering some capital ships and the like, at some point, but this goes to such a scale as I think I would not have imagined - and looks cool doing it.
  21. Dramatic entry!
  22. Turned out great Graham!
  23. That dry dock is awesome! The ship is great too. In particular there, I really like the contrast between the front and back of it in terms of style - it's unified as a ship - it just looks great having all that grey engine-type stuff going on on the front of it in contrast to its Octan-ness in the back. Well done!
