Uses for differentials
THERIZE replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
To be honest. What is the actual use of differentials. And do they have advantages. It seems normal gears can also transfer power to a axle. And how do they work? I think I'm kind of a noob in technic... -
I've found lots and lots of metal track for sale
THERIZE replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Kinda weird. I don't see a reason why this is abusive behaviour. I didn't know something like that is taken so seriously. Or better: 'too seriously.' An official warning seems harsh. -
Apparently Stash merged the topic with the pictures in this one while the pictures themselves didn't merge. Only the posts.

Hallelujah! It looks AWESOME!

Awesome! I think it would look better if the roof wasn't blue at the front tho.

I think it looks nice but I think the wide thing with the rounded top should be 2 studs.

It does get annoying when mods lock topics. In the occasions I saw a topic being blocked the last sentece was: 'i think it's better to lock this.' And then locking it. I understand that they don't want stupid things going on but it can be annoying when you have a question. Now you need to start a whole new topic for that.

Throws in a tower crane in the smallest place possible Just kidden, it looks very nice!

He probably means the old style of tracks (12V I believe) that you needed to attach them to plates (that were used as sleepers) in the same way as the tracks we got from the City mine. But the curves were also loose pieces on plates instead of molded in one piece.

Greyhound looks awesome! I think it would be more likely for LEGO to have that colour scheme instead of plain black. But to be honest I don't think LEGO will ever release something as giant as the 844 as an official set. Not much potential if they'd want to sell it all across the globe.

for US train fan Jupiter would be nice. But for people in other parts of the world. No, at least not for me.

I think a picture would help...

Only if it would be a tank engine. I would love to see how LEGO would make a big steam locomotive using standerd wheels. And about the driver molds gathering dust, it doesn't mean that they won't be used anymore. It means that they don't have a use for them right now I'm sure they will come in handy when LEGO will make a new steam locomotive. I think for most people a steam locomotive would be associated with Christmas but I think something like I showed would also be looking good in Christmas colors.

The PennLUG Roundhouse and Locomotive Service Terminal
THERIZE replied to Cale's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Awesome!! So many details inside like the stairs and hoses. This must be one of the most eye catching things at a LEGO train show. -
Nice, I do want to see the reactions of the crane workers when that steam locomotive arrived:) I think it would be possible with having the battery stationary in the 'office' and 2 micromotors in the moving crane bit itself. One drives 2 wheels (the wheels would be horizontal so they move the crane itself against the rail like guide wheels used on monorais. The others is coupled up to the wire. But the pillars that hold eveything up could be a lot harder. I'm at least sure you'd definitely need a few extension cables.

Ooh wow, I LOVE IT. I wish I had this myself. Those tank trucks look so nice!

well, it would only be if the ALCO would be in the same colour scheme as the Super Chief. The design of the ALCO is definitely different than an EMD FT. And plus, even if LEGO would want to use a real life colour scheme they'd have a lot of colours to choose from. And also, wouldn't a christmas train be painted in red, green and white? But it would most likely not happen.

I think a diesel locomotive would be nice: I think an ALCO PA would look good. My combination would be: ALCO PA+passenger car+Open wagon with gifts+caboose.

I love the coaches!! Nice interior with the bar. The baggage wagon also looks nice.
