(oleon- FB) Admiral Ackbarr's house
Captain Dee replied to Captain Pirate Man's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hey, that's great! Possibly the first spouse to have work featured in BoBS? -
That's a nice sloop you've built. I love those white hulls and while fairly simple, this is still an attractive design. Well, all but that big skull on the stern but that's a different matter. The accent colors are nice and the rigging is great - nothing complicated, but very good and far better than the standard shroud pieces will ever be. I'm really starting to like these smaller, more realistically-scaled prefab vessels. Good work, and I'll keep a weather eye out fer a seafarin' Blue wit' a li'l raff!

[ESL-Intro] The annual Fontonajo dinner
Captain Dee replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely setting. The tapestry is nice and I like the design of the table and chairs (hey, I like anything gold...) It looks like a warm family atmosphere and behold, the table overfloweth with the bounty of the land. I can't tell if the archways are supposed to be windows or painted reliefs, but the light blue is a beautiful accent color regardless. The maps and painting help break up the white, but a few more wouldn't hurt. I'm curious about the floor - are some of the tiles attached and others loose? Finally, the different colors of the base are interesting. Good work and good intro for the characters :) -
Both these vessels are superb. Their overall shapes are really good and the two sterns are especially beautiful. The bluecoats' vessel looks like a very good replacement for the Caribbean Clipper or Armada Flagship and the sails are lovely. Good work.

Brown and tan always look good together. You have some decent details but a little more for a roof would be nice :) You've got quite the character intro going in the Oleon thread, which I just read over. -
That's a lovely banquet hall and you've used the faction colors really well - even the food items and utensils match. I just wish we could see a good overview pic of it all. Regarding the personal matters at hand - first come, first served or so it seems. *wink* Keep it up.

Very good warehouse. That cobblestone look never gets old and the dock area is nice. The design of the building is excellent and it has a somewhat dreary atmosphere inside, which is perfect for a warehouse. Keep it up. Bart, the size limitations are for licensed freebuilds. If you don't want to license something for gameplay then those limits don"t apply. But bigger builds could still be licensed at a future date once you'd earned enough to pay the license and built any other smaller requirements first.

[OL-FB] Officers Quarters
Captain Dee replied to Franco Clarke's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Neat concept. I suppose that's what you call "surrounded by the comfort and protection of the highest power, called gunpowder..." The somewhat sparse look is appropriate for what must be called a "Bed & Bastion." If the cannon was equipped with a long slow-burning fuse it could double as an alarm clock too. Nice work. -
[Oleon-FB] Fort Lagoon
Captain Dee replied to Captain Pirate Man's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I can definitely see the Lagoon Lock-Up in the design. It translates pretty good in grey and the structure is nice. I particularly like the pic from behind, looking out to sea. -
The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Captain Dee replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That's a nice intro scene. Neat, clean, smooth. Thaddeus' facial expression is perfect for him. Looks like he's going to polish off the whole pie by himself, kinda like Chet Morton from the classic Hardy Boys. Lord Kirk should fit right in, and at this point Corrington has much better representation.- 897 replies

[ESL-FB] MAESTRO Swordsmith somewhere in Nelissa
Captain Dee replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice building (and flags!) and also the first of its kind in BoBS. I like the colorscheme, and the stripes in particular help break up the white. Nice job on the interior too. Good work.- 10 replies

[SEARATS-FB] Bastion
Captain Dee replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You weren't kidding when you said you were back - new avatar, new name (okay, not really new, just refurbished!) and a lovely pirate build to go with it. That's an excellent bastion. I like the colors/textures of the walls and the rockwork is good. It has a nice realistic weathered look to it and it's easily my favorite of the land-based builds posted here so far (even if it's in the "wrong" hands). And the amount of firepower is about right for something that size. Great work. -
I wouldn't worry too much about the ships. Most of us didn't hit a home run on our first try. The best way to learn is by building. If what you build looks sensible, then don't be afraid to post it. We're all here for input, right? If you want lots of ideas then just take a look at the ship index - it's got everything.

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Captain Dee replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
"Laugh, Mr. Bond..." It's good to see Corrington getting several new members. And also good to see them using their advanced maps! But it seems to be copies of the same one - perhaps they're all pursuing the same thing...- 897 replies

Bart, each category of each challenge requires its own MOC. That means one MOC for CH IA, another for CH IB, plus one more for CH IIA. CH IIB has no MOC limit (make as many as you want) but a limit of 6 photos. Of course you're not obligated to participate in all 4 categories - do as many or as few as you want, or not at all. It's up to you! If you participate in more than one challenge category then definitely post them in seperate topics. I think you'll be required to link to the challenge thread. LDD has been approved for general use; however there may be limitations for challenges. Use your imagination for the natives. The hula girls have been used as Islanders before so go for it. I would take this question to the Challenge topics if you need more answers.

Very nice. Arches and balconies are always beautiful. The throne (I assume that's what it is) looks great and the colored lower floor is cool. Good idea to show the other factions even if some of them might not like the generalized and stereotypical descriptions! But I must confess to being surprised to see so esteemed a lady wearing trousers... Good work and keep it up.

[ESL-Intro] Elysabeth of Drondil
Captain Dee replied to TitusV's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good intro. The building looks nice and you can't go wrong with that roof technique. I really like the cobblestone and am particularly impressed that you have the flags fluttering in the breeze and not just hanging straight. Keep it up. -
Lovely setting. I like the design of and the tall dense look of the sugar cane plants. That building looks nice too and it's good to see those characters again. I'm curious to see how others will build the cane plants - it's tricky using standard Lego parts. I'm also thinking that anyone wanting to build a plantation for the game is going to need a HUGE number of them... But that's beside the point. Good work and congrats on being the first to show the first step to rum!!

That's a unique subject to build, and the remains of the boat are nice. The plants (and more wreckage?) look pretty good too but the main part of the beach looks rather empty; perhaps that was intentional. The images look sharp enough and I think better lighting would do the trick.
-
Nice interior build. It's pretty basic but it hits the high points and is designed well. Good job on the story too. About those glasses... 18th century, I believe? That fits the time period. Keep it up.

This is a really nice model overall. You've got some good features and I like those old wheels. The header functions are great, and it's not too wide for reality - the biggest flex draper platforms are 45 feet wide, so as long as you meet the rules I say go for it! I've never heard of any header cart/trailer that wasn't rigid, so I'd drop that folding trailer idea if it makes things easier. I like the overall look, but the unloading auger is just too small. It should extend past the edge of the header to avoid difficult unloading angles (it would be impossible to unload on-the-go as shown). Most current models extend out the back or at least reach to the back when in the transport position. You could try a folding header and eliminate the trailer issue altogether. But that would require completely reworking it, which might be best as an experiment. It's good like it is. I like the colors too. Massey-Ferguson? Case IH? MacDon draper header? Good work.

I have a question regarding the lovely young queen's name. Is it "Annette" or "Annetta?" It's written both ways in the leadership topic and it's being used both ways. It seems every true Corry should get it right...- 897 replies

I've been awaiting this ever since you said (a few weeks ago) that your best was yet to come late this month. That is a fantastic structure and the rocky snowscape is wonderful. The largely symmetrical tapered look is really nice and the use of brown and grey looks great. The interior is good as always and I like the little details like the girl reclined by the fireplace. The leaning, tilting snow-capped palisade is brilliant and the path climbing up through the snow looks nice. My favorite detail in the whole scene is the two cardinals in the tree, fitting for such a cozy peaceful scene. Excellent work and happy building in 2016!
