Nice work on the docks. You've got a little bit of everything, as it should be, and the big wall makes a good background. I really like the cork in the bottle and the boat looks fine. Happy building in the new year!

The Algus Saga - The Victory Party
Captain Dee replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Guilds of Historica
As soon as I saw the title I thought, "gotta be Captain Braunsfeld!" Looks like fun in the sun. The gazebo design is pretty cool and of course you have to have a big cake! I just hope they picked a designated driver for the return home - from the looks of things most of them are going to need it. Pardon my eternal ignorance, but from whence cometh the martini glasses? I see the Duke leaveth nothing to chance... he bringeth his rabbit gloves and percheth a fiery serpent atop the lofty spire... Good way to close out the year. (Well, I still have an hour-and-a-half regardless of what the EB clock sayeth.) Here's to happy building in 2016! See you at BOB's... Don't drink and drive, folks. You might hit a bump, and spill your drink!- 14 replies

Wow. That is a spectacularly unique house. It isn't really my style and yet somehow I really like it! You've really used shapes and colors well and the smooth detailed appearance is lovely. The chandelier is beautiful and those chairs (velvet?) look so inviting... All the furniture looks good. Those high-arched rafters look great and I assume the slopes on the bottom are attached to a half technic pin? The roof layout is really nice too. This is a beautiful house inside and out and the landscaping is quite good as well. Excellent work.

Oh, I know, I know. I was just kidding around. But it is good to bring that point up because it is important for everyone to understand just how the taxes function.

Well, Corrington definitely needs members - that is, if it hasn't gone extinct already. So far it's been mostly Blue and Green. If you're undecided, you could request a tax break to make up your mind like they do in the real world...

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
Captain Dee replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Aha! So the esteemed Captain B. has chosen to "go green." Shouldn't there be a press conference or something? Dinner gala? New Year's Banquet? Can we at least launch some fireworks? Fire a cannon? Anything? (I don't drink, so that's out of the question...) Good to see you active here, Captain Braunsfeld. I can't wait to see what you'll build next.- 780 replies

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Captain Dee replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good intro, Captain Pirate Man. The last pic of the ship looks like a perfect sunrise/sunset view. And do I spy some modified Castle Gatehouses at the front of the fort? That's a great set (I should know...I have a bunch of them) and a nice idea. Looking forward to seeing more. -
Freebuilds add to your faction's score and earn you, the builder, DBs that you can use if you wish to participate in the EGS - but only if you fill out the web form and post a link in the freebuild thread. You could freebuild for months, increasing your DBs, and then start gameplay, or never begin gameplay if you want. If you never participate in EGS but do lots of freebuilds you'd just earn a bunch of DBs that wouldn't really do anything.

Story about a Forgotten Fruit...
Captain Dee replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice house. I like the red and white colorscheme and you've got just enough details to fill the scene nicely. The upper porch/patio area is a good idea for a house so close to the water. You're really taking off with this fruity business, eh? Too bad Lego doesn't make an apple in gold to hang over the door... -

Nice looking ship, Maxim. Major firepower, good colorscheme, and lots of gold accents. Yep, you hit all the main points. I hear you loud and clear on the deck height issue (raising the cannons). Prefabs are fun to build on but making double-decker warships with minifig deck heights is a challenge, and it's pretty much impossible on triple-decker prefabs. Congrats and good idea to name a ship after her!- 780 replies

Bart, you bring up a good point. There should be lots of building options, especially for people who are willing to "think outside the box." Tomsche, I think your best option would be the Blues or Sea Rats, based on what you're saying. If you don't want to participate in the Economic Game System you'll be free to build what and when you want, rather than being limited by the gameplay rules. But if you like the sound of Corrington, don't rule it out just because you don't have redcoat soldiers. You could probably work your way around that, especially if you want your character to be a seafarer/explorer.

[Frozen Beyond, Cat A] An Arkbri Fortress Falls
Captain Dee replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Your compositions are excellent. The layout, shapes, colors, textures and minifig posing are superb as always. I like the fact that you've made so many similar things, because it produces a wonderful design continuity that is easily recognizable. This is just a lovely setting - too bad it's being overrun by those cold-hearted invaders. Excellent work.- 32 replies

Beautiful house! Tan, dark red, and gold look great together, and I'm inclined to agree that the lavender stripes and other accents look nice. The flowers, balconies, and crowd of people look great - and the enclosed garden on the roof is lovely, even if the tree is a bit optimistic. Very good work.

[The Frozen Beyond] Cat A: Teridyan Beacon
Captain Dee replied to BrickCurve's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is a lovely composition. The snowscape and trees look great, the beacon tower and walls are very good and the details in the back are nice as well. The elk is really good and looks curious as the enemy approaches. Good work. -
Somewhere in the great forests of Avalonia..
Captain Dee replied to Sir Gillian's topic in Guilds of Historica
Beautiful and peaceful setting! I like that you've shown the bedrock and varying soil profile, the trees and bridge are all excellent and the flowers and other plants look nice. The stream just looks so smooth and inviting. Good work and keep it up. -
That's a fine building, and you've got a lot of good details inside. That roof technique always looks good, and overall it just has a nice shape. Good work and keep it up.

That's a neat, clean design. The cabin/hut looks nice and I like all those plants in the foreground. Even if he doesn't catch any more fish this way he'll at least have more fun doing it... Good work, and nice job with the border.

Nice little warehouse you've got there. I like the concept just because it's different, and the seemingly random assortment of items on hand looks pretty good and fits the setting well. I see you've already addressed a few tips for the future, which sounds promising. Keep it up.

[ESL-FB] A Fruitfull Recon
Captain Dee replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good intro. Both builds may be small, but they look great and the story is pretty good too. I like the wreckage on shore and the haphazard posing of those skeletons looks natural. You've got way more stuff going on with that boat than most people would consider - several men, supplies, a really cool decorated anchor - and it makes a nice little scene all by itself. This apple business promises to be interesting. Keep it up!- 9 replies

That's a nicely built shrine and a unique way to introduce a character. I especially like the details on the front, and while the grey plates between the round white bricks don't look bad, I think pearl gold would look best. I also think it would be nice to get a shot showing the character's face if possible. Neat idea overall, and good job tilting the toadstool!

One-time in the sense that you'll only have one sig-fig intro vs. unlimited freebuilds.

I don't think so since it's a one-time-only thing and not necessarily a full MOC.

Another day, another small dio. *yawn* Haha, just kidding. That's a lovely little scene and really shows the essence of smuggling well. The rocks are great and all those different minifigs make this look so much more serious than most smuggling scenes I've seen before. I wasn't totally sold on the bright-colored backgrounds before but now I think it's a good idea. This build looks great against that red, which seems to be a near-perfect match for the stripe across the front. Good work.

This is indeed a fine fort. The architecture and colors are great and it has a wonderful shape. The rocks and vegetation around the base look nice as well; I especially like the overhang in the front. This is a very good build on its own, but if you keep adding as the WIP pic shows you'll have something tremendous. Keep it up.
