great build. I like war hammer as inspiration too.. I am probably the only guy on Pintrest, but I use it for inspiration for many of my builds and war hammer is one of them. lovely work.

So I want to share my latest creation that I took up to Brickfair Virginia a week ago. It is my first real castle/fantasy build and will probably be divisive with some for the use of the Elves mini dolls, but I am okay with that :) Every time I build I try to do something that involves my kids and with a 9 year old daughter, her fascination with the Elves line led to building this. The idea is that this is a sea port where Elves from different kingdoms come and trade goods for Dragon eggs, which they return home with. we have the floating islands which serve as a nesting ground and other rooms, a main castle that has been reclaimed and is in the process of being remodeled and then an island that has a few buildings in it. Some of the figures themselves have been merged with Lego mini figure pieces and capes and hair to soften the cartoon look of the mini dolls. I hope you enjoy, it was a one and done at the show and I am in the process of disassembling most of the build so I can finally work on sorting my lego room...so that I can build a big castle next :) The Elvan Seaport of Elvadion by Martin Harris, on Flickr The Elvan sea port of Elvadion by Martin Harris, on Flickr The Elvan sea port of Elvadion by Martin Harris, on Flickr

Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch

Thanks, it actually has a little more room to grow for accuracy- which is being worked on at the moment and I will hopefully be able to share at Brickworld Chicago :) cheers- 29 replies

Ha, how did you know? I had most but had to pick up a few, I was pleased because I had most stuff for this build already :) Thanks. Piece count is so hard- no real idea, once I had the layout though it was a fairly simple build, the upper half is mainly just a combo of tan bricks I had on hand and some tile.

Cute castle. Love the rock work and snow though

Thank you thank you. Cheers Thanks. Yes it took a fair bit of work :) Thanks Yes you can...you can do anything!

Battlefront is the best resource for Star Wars accuracy. That's what I told my wife after playing for 400 hours in the last 16 months

Thanks guys. Yes it does a little more, maybe two clicks...but that was going to be more challenging to fit in to photograph. Cheers :)

Ha. I'd love no studs. But the wings when using plates cause stud challenges

So I built a large trench run scene. It was 8ft and required a ton of greebling. I started by working the bigger pieces into the moc first, all over. then I built little builds with tons of detail, random but if similar size and scope. I then attached them, again all over the moc. Then I would take sections and have a bin of small parts and make random patterns ( is that even a thing). then I would fill in as much of the space as I could randomly. Tedious tedious work but so worth it. to summarize- I built in layers in different sizes. Good luck.

Cheers mate Thanks. The inside isn't too fancy- just the ramp and then the hang out area. The roof of the cockpit lifts off, but it's not finished inside, I am going to work on redesigning that, there is room to do it and connect the two, when I was building I built more for structure than inside design but I can see now what I can do to change that.

So this is my Rogue One Transport Ship I built from scratch. PLease bear with me as this is the first large ship I have ever built from scratch - and I am working on my photoshop skills for rendering a backdrop. This is slightly off minifig scale form my calculations but works perfectly as a play set for my 10 year old son. The wings were a huge challenge, I think long run the best mechanism will be similar to that of the UCS shuttle. I had tried some different shaped technic hinges, but none were sturdy enough. I settled on the axles used in the at-at walker legs and they work perfectly. They are extremely strong and allow for simple maneuvering of the wings. They do however make you have to compromise a little on the wing design, but for my first effort, I was fine with that. The entrance door below the cockpit opens up and fits in a handful of rebels. Currently the cockpit does not have an interior but can fit in a pilot. I am going to redesign a few aspects, increasing the size of the ship and adding a viewable and functional cockpit. The Cargo was a real challenge and really it probably needs to be a few studs wider on either side. With an expanse of bright orange, it looked horrible so I softened it with white and then added burt orange tile. It may not be fully accurate, but it makes it more pleasing on the eye. Thanks fo looking, I welcome any suggestions, I will be letting my son 'blow it up' in a Star Wars game and I will go ahead and rebuild some more. There is a video on Beyond the Brick that shows it being displayed at Brickfair Alabama a few weeks ago on a Scarif scene, but I couldn't be bothered to make the palm trees again just for pictures. Please forgive me :) CHeers. Joni have tried searching but could not find anything. inam looking for some direction/information on Lego RC cars/kits, whatever is out there, can you help? cheers
-
Thanks. It is expanded from the 'set'one in size but I like the red knights cape as a blanket the most :) I spent a fair bit of money picking up all the aliens, I do also loveg effect though. Cheers

Thanks I wanted to have some contrast in the texture. Ha, I need to rebuild it in a circle shape :) Thank you thank you. They currently have it filled with friends cats ? Thanks, the playability was the main goal- as I was building my son asked if they could have it to play with :)
-
Yeah they do, though they enjoy sticking Creepers or Lego Friends down there more. YES trapdoor collapses, there is a technic axle that pushes through the back. when it is extended the door cannot fall, when I pull it back, unlucky minifigure falls through. Cheers!

Here are some pics and links to more pics of My Mission to Jabba's Palace Moc. I Built this as a play set style Moc two days before Christmas so that my kids can play in Jabba's Palace, I spent the last two weeks or so sourcing the minifigs. Having shown the Moc at Brickfair AL and now taken the pics, my 10 year old son has corrected me on the fact that the blue lady behind Bobba is possibly a Jedi. I wasn't going to photograph and edit again, so please excuse that error and imagine it is a long lost sibling of her who is now a dancer in Max Rebo's band. The trapdoor is fully functional and lead down a tunnel that ends in the Rancor pit. Stair ways lead off the back and side in all directions, allowing for further add on's as needed. A few features I particularly like: The Red Blanket that Jabba sits on, it is a cape from one of those giant knight figures and Max Rebo's drum kit, this took a few hours to build but I love the effect that I achieved. As always, thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy, more images are on my Flickr via the links. Cheers.
