Thanks for the answers. I don't have an army yet if storm troopers so rebels it is- for my son anyway :)

What's the main difference with the rebel ST and a non rebel ST? I'm not a compete perfectionist when I'm spending hundreds of dollars on armies....I will compromise to save dollars

BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
Bricksnaps replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
So i have just completed my 10179 and am looking to do an engine mod. My M.F is going to be sitting in Echo base so no need for the Hyperdrive to be firing, however I am wondering if someone has a link to this mod as I would like to see the framework, I will be building the interior of the engine on a curve like this but with black vents.- 290 replies

BrickFair VA-What to Expect?
Bricksnaps replied to AwesomeBantha's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Thanks for this info. I attended brickfair alabama this year and we have decided to make the drive to VA in August. Really excited, we know what to expect with the flow of events. I have a question on MOC's- we will be registering at least one big one which will be out on the map I am sure, for the smaller ones, is there a lot of space or is it limited to how many we can bring, Alabama was light on MOCs so we were encouraged to bring many. As for the public hours, my son is 8 and I think that was some of our fav time. We loved watching people's reactions to our creations and then asking questions, it was great for my son for confidence building. Great advise on the cooler for drinks- and to bring your own food, we didn't plan on that for Alabama. Anyway, really excited about VA, alabama was hae if this year on sat and thinned out on Sunday, cannot wait until August. Cheers. -

41073 Display of Naidas Epic Adventure Ship
Bricksnaps replied to Elostirion's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Very good! It's a great ship...I think we may take your idea and do something similar. Cheers -
There is a guy who sells (cheaply) instructions on rebrickable for a more minifig scale at at walker which is what I followed as a plan. However it is pretty unstable and having built one I pretty much had to redesign the entire legs and especially feet. It was suffering from pretty bad broken ankle syndrome. It is also a little top heavy so I am trying to reduce the weight. I have two pretty much 95% built but am going to redesign the side panels a bit. The most useful part of his design is the body frame and the engine underbelly part. I am approx 3k parts into it and built the majority from spare parts and 3 at at walker sets we had. CaveGods is awesome and I would love to build one just like it for display. BrickPlumber also has one which is out West and is all over Flicker, those two are the best UCS style ones out there that I have seen. For my son and I though we are personally trying minifig scale, though that's defendant on what size you rate the minifig at, how tall you are basing Luke or Stormtropper and which size you go with (anywhere between 18 and 25 meters I think). I am currently half way through building a bricklinked 10179 aswell having acquired all the pieces last week, so it will be fun to see them together. Good luck with your builds. As I think about thisi wanted to share my thoughts on why I think that Lego may stay clear of a UCS Ar At walker. It seems the biggest challange with one is weight distribution and ankle strength. Unless TLG can find a way to make one that passes it's tests for durability etc I really do not see one coming. If the definition of a UCS model is one that has more detail than playability, an increase in detail is probably going to increase the weight. The most recent $109 priced one really is not the best looking model, but for an At At walker it is stable and possible, attributes that I think they wanted to achieve primarily and I think it is a good kit.

Cool! I'm currently building a few smaller ones, approx 20" tall but bk where as detailed as CaveGods. What is your price estimation on needed parts?
-
So this really is a topical topic. I am currently working on a bricklink 10179 so am working in my office. My son has a bunch of his Star Wars things lying around in my office, my daughter walked in with her big box of lego and asked me to make her some Star Wars friends...this is what we came up with, we did the airspeeder on Wednesday I think and the others this weekend. It was so much fun! https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/130781391@N07/16604693441/

5 year old girl and 8 year old boy. I have my own little supply, they are welcome to use as they like, but if I need something of theirs I take it :) It's a fun hobby to share with the kids, I was a kid when I started and my dad never restricted me, so I cannot do that to them. At the end of the day it is lego. It is not my career, it is not my life, but we have lots of fun with it, just today my daughter asked to take one of the 12 airspeeders I have stacked in my closet and asked me to make it girly. Happy to do so!
-
My Daughter wanted to diversify our squadron of 12 Airspeeders....I now have a happy 5 year old (I am not sure who will appreciate it more, Star Wars fans or friends fans, so I will start here until I get moved somewhere else). We were inspired by the friends AT-AT walker. you can view more here: https://www.flickr.c...th/15954244954/

How Many 2x4 Bricks in a Pick a Brick Pot?
Bricksnaps replied to Bricksnaps's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the replies, after I posted last night I found the 65 page thread but I thank you for answering here. I have not even tried with the small pot, may be worth an effort too. The box I can be certain on as I bought four for a Hoth Scene in January, that's what for me thinking about it as I now need more. I like the idea if building unseen structures with Duplos, don't have any though. I am thinking about building frame works out technic bricks and then fill around, I may do some math on what is more economical there too. Cheers guys! -
Simple enough question...(this may be when I realize that lego is an addiction) but I am trying to find the most economical way to buy bricks, in particular 2x4 bricks of any color in large quantities. My Local lego store sells me a complete box of 2x4 bricks for $110 which includes tax. In those boxes on average I receive 540 bricks. That works out to 0.20 cents a brick The online pick a brick is .30 cents for a 2x4 brick, plus tax so essential .33 cents. This evening I tried to fill a Pick a Brick cup the best way I could with 2x4 bricks and I managed to squeeze in 123 bricks. At $16 plus tax (for the large cup), so $17.60, that equates to a cost of .14 cents a brick If you factor in bringing your old cups in and saving 50 cents it would be $17 (plus tax0 divided by 123 would be a cost of .138cents per brick So with my fuzzy math - it is much cheaper to purchase via the cup rather than the box (thats if you choose not to use Bricklink.com). So here is my question: How many 2x4 bricks have you been able to fit in a large PAB cup? Do you have any special techniques? Thanks for reading this far :)

Thanks- yeah my daughter has the lego set and it was such a let down for her. But- in fairness it had Elsa and Anna and quite frankly that's all she needed and wanted, Lego didn't have to make it too big or fancy because the little kids were more concerned about the figures which looks great. We had just built a Hoth MOC so these were left over white pieces, I am starting to come to the understanding after being around this forum for a while that we have a size able lego collection. My sons been Into it for about 4 years and I buy what I can whenever I can if I see it on sale or collections being sold off. I also have four brothers who let me have our families collection a few years ago.

Thanks- new around here so I couldn't figure out how to add pics tithe thread without the flicker link, thanks for looking!

So I wanted to share my own Elsa's castle that I made a month or so ago. I was taking a HOTH MOC to Brickfair Alabama and my daughter wanted something there also, so we built this with some spare parts we had. I was quite pleased, I had 2 of the official Lego Elsa sets that I broke up to get a few of the white pieces and the stairs, but the rest was from what was left laying around. Thanks for looking, it was a fun build and my daughter loves playing with it. Cheers all! Here is a full set on Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...th/16544094602/ Edit- Uploaded a file and more to follow

Tell us more about it, we displayed at Beickfair Ala and are intending to go to brickfair Virginia, my son and I loved the experience. Is it for MOC's? Is it just lego etc Cheers
