  1. Some lodgings for visiting scientists on the banks of the river.
  2. The somewhat sleepy settlement of Camp Isaac is maintained by the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy primarily as a base camp for Corlander scientific expeditions on the island of Cascadia. Although some major land clearing has occurred, notably around the fort and WTC store, the Royal Society has decreed that developments must have as little impact on the natural surroundings as possible. How else can pure scientific study be conducted? The river is used as the primary method of transport, with rope walks erected as trails through the jungle. The Post Office was one of the first structures built on the banks of the river and since then, this trend as continued, especially for those who have no wish to be confined within the walls of the fort. The Royal Society itself has constructed some lodgings along the banks to house visiting scientists. A network of board-walks has been established linking properties along the riverbank which serve to allow transport between buildings without a boat or without risking one's life to the jaguars, panthers and tigers of Cascadia (although loaded muskets are usually stored on the front verandas just in case!). Here a visiting scientist enjoys the cool evening breeze on the veranda, while a pair of Royal Pioneers patrol the board-walks. ________________ Another digital from me while I am still on summer holidays, last day today! I wanted to do something with some greenery (which I usually struggle a bit with in LDD). Also the RSNP and Camp Isaac needed the love! Will be licensed as a large residence for the RSNP. I have tentative plans to do an adjoining property and to link the builds (and board-walks) up. Could be a while away though....
  3. Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion and not that of the court. In the spirit of this project, here is some detailed feedback. First up, this is a very fitting subject for the first build as it shows an immediate reaction - so great job with that. I somewhat disagree with Drunknoks comments here. While, the scene itself is relatively simple, I think it is a good example of what can be achieved with a limited collection. Also it's not meant to be licensed, so a small and simple structure in the background is fine. For the story you are trying to portray, I think it does the job well and what's more it fits the style of the settlement well in both colour palette and feel. I like the way the road is at the lowest level and is a darker shade of tan than the rest of the dirt although maybe another level or two between the road and the tan landscape may have enhanced the build. The cobblestones sprinkled around look to be about the right density to me. Sometimes that in itself is hard to achieve as too few looks sparse and too many looks to formal, so again good work here. The cart itself is well done and the minifigs are excellently posed - no small feat in LDD! Again I feel you have the right amount of vegetation here and I like how the stalks are clustered in small clumps. I just wish those prickly bushes came in olive! The tan ground is a little too bare for my personal taste but it works ok here and matches the style of the other MOCs in the settlement. I'd maybe try and blend some olive plates into the ground, especially around the plant clumps just to give a little more variety. Also maybe the odd stone? Or as the settlement was also hit by a tsumani, maybe some debris or seaweed or something... just some ideas. The building is the part I am not completely sold on. The two parallel diagonal cracks seem too uniform for damage and I'm not quite sure about the half stud offset (or are they plates with rails?) on the end. The damage to the brick foundation on the other hand I think is quite well done. I would have liked to have seen the roof tiled as the exposed studs look a bit strange next to the dark orange tiles (that look great btw) on the edges (but you might have been trying to match the exposed stud style of ML?). As mentioned for the landscape, a little more rubble strewn around would have enhanced the building as well IMO, although getting the randomly place rubble to look right in LDD is extremely difficult! With the irregular base, I think that you need to break up the straight lines a bit, especially at the front (this is feedback I received early on when experimenting with irregular base shapes and something I still struggle with). I find there are two methods to do this, either using more wedge plates for the sloped look all around, or using smaller normal plates to make like a horizontally stepped shape (if that makes sense?). There is a great tutorial here on Brickbuilt. By making the base more 'irregular' I think you could have really enhanced the look. Also is there a random piece stuck under the base causing the gap in the render between the base and floor? Or is that just the program you are using for the render? Anyway hopefully you find some of this helpful. As Bregir said in the other thread, the court will now convene as we would for a Royal property and make a decision.
  4. Great display of redcoats Flavius. The use of the classic head does look very smart all in a row like that. The drummer, colour sergeant and colour bearer are nicely done. I have often thought about arming my sergeants with pikes but I have never really found on that seems to fit. I really like the historical feel of this company, great work!

  9. No problems, how long do you think you will need? I'd happily extend a week or so for you to finish. As for licensing, I'd definitely still be interested in purchasing it at the same terms as the collaboration, even if you don't make it in time.

  11. Nice work with this rope maker Blackbird, it reminds me of one posted in the first year of BoBS by Captain Braunsfeld I think. I really like how the ropemaking process is displayed and the bustling activity around on the outside of the building. I like the texture for you have used for the exterior walls and the colour choices work well here as well. I believe you are working with limited pieces, however if possible I'd recommend some more texture on the stone embankment leading down to the wharfs. All up a nice property for Quinnsville, good job!
  12. You've got some incredible piece usage going on in this scene Elos, I'll seconded this statement by Bart! The colourful and bright flowers really bring the jungle to life. As previously mentioned I especially like the use of the yellow epaulettes as flowers in one of the trees. I have a stack of yellow epaulettes that I have no other use for, so this will definitely be something I experiment with in the future! The subject is great - I overlooked the battles against the big cats in my description for the challenge. I like the style of the platform and how it matches the larger tower I built. As for licensing, thank you again for the generous offer. I'll think about it as it's a tricky one. The closest I can come up with is commerce as it is on a road/pathway for trading goods. Either that or leave it unlicensed and just for illustrative purposes. Another stunning entry. Great work.
  13. Same! Makes perfect sense, here is a picture of my quick experiment with Sir Dirk. This is something that has been bothering me with LDD for a while, you Sir may just be a genius! Regarding the build. Great scene and even better looking vessel. She looks very powerful and graceful at the same time. I'm looking forward to seeing how the exercise goes.

  15. de Flynt's custom torso is very, very cool. The classic Admiral's uniform looks fantastic in green and you can't even really tell it is a sticker. Great vignette Capt Wolf!
  16. ALL: This matter has been referred to the court. I'd ask everyone to refrain from further comment on anything but the build itself. The court will make a ruling and communicate it via appropriate means.
  17. Nice to see you back to expanding Quinnsville Blackbird with this busy looking harbour scene here. I like the idea of a Marine surveyor's office and it is noted away for possible future use! Some simple suggestions to enhance it a little bit IMO would be to maybe add a quick border and vary the level of the water a little by using some plates or tiles. Bregir uses a very simple water technique in many of his builds that looks quite good if you want to see what I mean. If you were interested in enhancing it even further, may try a brick built roof. It's tricky to orientate it in LDD but I think it can be really enhance a building like this one. Anyone, just some ideas, good work here!
  18. Great work here Drunknok, both in the concept (I too had never heard of this type of tower before) and the execution. The build itself is fantastic, really well done. The tan and dark bley work very well together - it's not a combination I think I have seen much of before. Pity the colour in the photos seems to be doing something weird, at least on my screen anyway. The ornamentation using the cheese slopes and SNOT tiles looks really good - a simply concept that has really enhanced this build to the next level. The top level looks great as well with the 1x1 rounds and curved slopes. I really want to try and build one of these now and I may just borrow much from this build if I get a chance! Definitely one of my favourites of yours and definitely one of the stand out Mesabi Landing builds.
  19. Great subject and nice scene! Very unique for a plantation. Like the others have commented, the use of the hair pieces as birds nests is definately a stand out feature. The expression on the minifigs faces are great as well. Great job and thanks for contributing! I'll take you up on the license offer and you will find some very shiny Corrish doubloons in your account!

  21. A dye factory set up with Corlander assistance to produce dyes for export.
  22. Corlander merchants, seeing the quality of the Myzec dyes produced from Poinsettia plants have helped the Myzec set up production on a larger scale for export to nearby Jameston and the outside world. The process is much the same as the traditional methods used in Myzec homes. The flowers are boiled down and the resulting liquid is syphoned and strained all while continuing to be reduced over heat. A thick and vibrant dye is then stored in sealed clay pots for export. Here the furnaces used are bigger, and four are utilised in a row to produce four different shades simultaneously. _____________ A continuation from my Poinsettia plantation inspired by Drunknok's ideas in the Merrynight thread. The build turned out a bit bigger than planned (48x32) so it doesn't meet the size restrictions for the Daily Life collaboration. I needed the room to get the four furnaces in, so I don't regret it! It will be licensed as a medium factory sometime in the future as with this being build 7 for BoBS for December, I wouldn't want to be accused of exceeding my license restrictions. Don't worry, there is a dry spell fast approaching as I won't be able to (physically) build from mid Jan until early June! Probably why I'm so active right now!
  23. and the understatement of the year goes to.... A simply fantastic effort here. The sheer scale is amazing and the fact that it is microscale doesn't diminish from the majesty of the building. I especially like how the whole thing is mounted on fortification style bastions. My favourite part is the monk's cloisters, just full of fantastic detail with the atrium style dormitories and gardens and the column of monks. Great job and I have asked the court to consider it for Royal status.
  24. No problems! I'm pretty sure the technic axle isn't available in green, but you could swap out the axle, rod and brick for reddish-brown and it would work in real Lego. Actually I think you could get it denser in real Lego as you could squash a lot more flower pieces in.
  25. I think what @Elostirion is asking is that as he hasn't licensed them as he built them would he be permitted to bulk catch up with licensing this one time? The revised rules were developed to encourage quality over quantity. As Elostirion's builds are always of an excellent standard and as most were constructed long before the revised licensing rules, I for one would not object to him catching up with his paperwork this time.
