Great and very original concept and as usual very well executed! The bright jungle makes a refreshing change from the much plainer builds around the lake! -

A poinsettia plantation for Myzectlan- 26 replies

Sure did get someone inspired! Thanks Drunknok! Hopefully a dye 'factory' will be next. _____ When Corrish explorers first came to Myzectlan, they discovered that the Myzec grow a plant known as poinsettia. Poinsettia has bright red flowers that the Myzec use to produce red, pink and purple dyes. Interested in a potential local source of high quality dye - especially red, Corrish authorities in Myzectlan are eager to learn more. Here a small plantation can be seen in which the poinsettia plants are in bloom. Myzec workers will collect the flowers and delivery them to a nearby workshop for dye production.

Fantastic courthouse Flavius, packed with great details and suitably grand enough to display the glory of Corrington! The wood panelling contrasts well with the interior. The grilled bricks next to the windows are a great detail. I am very envious of all your white trimmed bicornes! Each time I've ordered one of those PotC officers they have come with plain tricornes! Great work bringing this MRCA result to life!

This is probably my favourite smaller vessel I've seen here in a little while. The shaping is great and I really like the way you have used the black slopes on the tumblehome. Great work!

A nice, powerful looking vessel. I love the blue colours! Great job!

A watchtower guards the chinampas of Lake Myzec.- 26 replies

Hundreds of years ago, when the Myzec civilisation battled man-eating cats on the Isle of Cascadia; one of the many defences for the human population was a series of stone watch towers of the same basic design. Many of these towers were built all over the jungles of Cascadia with the duel purpose of defending against both man and feline. When Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock visited Myzectlan, he even explored one in the area leading up to the secret waterfall entrance to the hidden valley of the Myzec! Within the valley itself, the defence against felines is less of a priority as the cats rarely penetrate the surrounding mountain peaks to entry the hidden valley. Nevertheless, some of these towers were constructed, especially around Lake Myzec where the civilisations maize supply is grown in 'floating islands' or chinampas. Here a seasoned Myzec warrior instructs two citizens in archery practice. __________ It's been a productive month so far although I find myself now away from my bricks for three weeks (it may not slow me down too much though as I am just putting the finishing touches on a digital Myzec build tonight!). This build was finished last weekend, although I ended up tearing apart the base and starting again during last week. I decided to return to the brighter lime green landscape than the olive I used in the boat yard as I preferred the brighter finish. I am really enjoying the Aztec flavour of the Myzec at the moment, especially referencing other builders previous builds and ideas to create the civilisation! I'll probably license as a fort somewhere down the track, although not just yet.

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Jameston, 17 December 617 To Mr Kadeus Mordo, I am writing to you as you are the senior WTC representative present in Mesabi Landing and I trust this letter finds you well. Firstly, please accept my apologies for not visiting Mesabi Landing yet in my capacity as Governor. The phenomenal growth of your settlement is a testament to the industrious of your company and is a credit to the Empire. It is however; under more unpleasant circumstances that I write. I am required to ascertain clarity around some recent reports of misdeeds by vessels of your company in two separate incidents in the Brick Seas. Firstly, reports have reached the Colonial Ministry of WTC vessels; led by the flag ship WTC Drunken Dragon, engaging with ‘Sea Rat’ traders on the high seas. Although by all accounts the encounter did not go well for the WTC squadron, the Ministry is demanding of me as Governor of the Paradise Isles, an explanation of why the engagement occurred in the first place. As I am sure you are aware Corrington is not at war with the Sea Rats and no letters of marque have been issued. Please provide me with an explanation of these actions, as it will help inform my response to the Ministry in this matter. I am sure we all wish to avoid another ‘Icarus Returning’ incident like that which occurred in Mooreton Bay this time last year. Secondly, I have recently received reliable reports of a small WTC owned vessel which was sunk by the defences of Fatu Hiva attempting hostile action against that place. This is a serious matter that could damage relations between our nation and Oleon and I would like to assure my Oleon counter-part on the Ile de Or that neither the WTC nor Corrington had any part in this act. Should any survivors of this attempted raid return to Mesabi Landing, I expect them to be turned over to Major Bradley for transfer to Port Woodhouse and trial. I look forward to hearing your explanation on these matters and hope for continued cooperation between your company and the Colonial authorities. Yours sincerely, Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock Governor of the Paradise Isles @Drunknok @Mesabi -
Age of Mitgardia (free-build-challenge)

Inn Stage 2: Yule Celebrations -
It is traditional in many parts of Mitgardia for celebrations to be held around the time of the winter solstice. The celebrations mark the 'turning point' where the often harsh winter is halfway through and the people can look forward to spring. Traditionally, to help the people of their lands through these tough winters, the Lord of the village would provide bread baked from his own personal grain supply and ale paid for with his coin. These offerings are usually distributed in a festival that includes music and dancing. In Ambarvale, Sir Alan hosts these traditional festivities and the villagers all come out to enjoy his generosity. As the weather remains clear, the festivities are held in the yard of the smaller of the towns two taverns. A nearby fur tree (planted years ago for just this purpose) is decreated with a bright star and scraps of rag. __________ It's taken me a couple of days to getting around to posting this, but here is my latest build! It is again the same style as I've been using and will likely the last like this for a while. I've attempted snow again and am still not convinced I've quite pulled it off...! The AoM requirement was for a beer garden but I decided for a seasonal twist. I hope all have a good break this holiday period and get to spend some time with their family and loved ones.

With the planned large fortifications in Port Woodhouse taking far longer than expected to complete, small cannon batteries have been constructed at strategic points to provide defence against raids. Here one such battery stands on the crest of a small rise overlooking the approaches to the encourage. An officer inspects the day watch a regular intervals to ensure they remain diligent. ________ A long overdue fort for Port Woodhouse. Like I say IC, a larger one has been on my table for some time, I'm just seemingly never motivated to finish it... So in the meantime, here is something smaller! While technically it meets the size requirements for medium, it 'feels' like a small so I'm not sure yet what I'll go for. A surprising amount of effort went into the build - the top section is actually 5 bricks wide (based on this design) and I had to photograph it over multiple sessions because of the white on white (It's still not great, too white washed on the left side, but it's as good as it's going to get!) so I will probably go for medium...

Hmmm, I'll look into this now with the aMRCA committee.

[MMC] Merrynight Mini-Challenge 2018

Merrynight Celebrations in Jameston | COR | Ayrlego -
Jameston is made up of many different cultures, but one thing that binds those from the old world together in this new world is some kind of celebration of the winter solstice - even if there is no winter in the tropics! Traditionally in rural Corrington, the local Lord or Lady would host a celebration in the village providing the inhabitants with free bread and ale. A night of singing, dancing and general socialising would follow. Governor Sir Dirk Allcock continues this tradition in Jameston, hosting a public street party outside one of the settlements many taverns. Well-watered down ale is provided (although many revellers have brought their own rum!) and a jungle bush the approximate shape of a fur tree has been uprooted and decorated as per Merrynight traditions. The astute observer will also notice the attendance of Sir Lachlan Campbell, Under-secretary of Discovery in the Parliament of Science, and Don Isaac Montoya - making his first public appearance since disappearing from the Malto peace talks! Happy Merrynight all! _______ A Merrynight entry and my last of this style for a while. Seemed a good opportunity for a party! Will be licensed as an artisan in Jameston.

Definitely a fitting headquarters for a huge and rich trade company! I love your massive scale buildings and this is no exception. The detail work is great, especially the SNOT turntable bases - I don't think I've seen that done in white before. The dark orange stripes give a nice and uniformed splash of colour. I also like the gold horns as door handles. Great work!
-
I agree with Kwatchi, the curved slopes here make a very nicely shaped hull! The cannon does look slightly overscale, but you can't fault the citizens enthusiasm right! Good luck to them!

[MCTC: Salida Este] Textile Factory
Ayrlego replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Agreed that this is definitely one of the great factory builds we've seen here. Again you have proved the master of the use of classic yellow! Loads of great detail in both the interior and exterior. I wouldn't have known they interior was a separate build if you hadn't mentioned it. It's a concept I've considered before but have never executed... (yet!) I have to agree with @Roadmonkeytj regarding the looms, they are definitely a stand out feature and look fantastic. Great work!- 15 replies

[MCTC: Salida Este] Home for the Holidays
Ayrlego replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm loving the 'new' Salida Este MOCs at the moment (although I haven't got around to commenting on the other two yet - something I will soon rectify!). Am I correct in assuming this spree is somewhat inspired by the Kaliphin at Work Collab? Anyway, the first think I noticed here was the use of the yellowish green bricks - they look great, especially combined with the white. I really like the door arch, lots of great detail, especially the headlight brick with the 1x1 rounded tile attached. That looks really good. The mini-figs are well composed and placed - I really like the forestman hat as a plant holder!- 11 replies
