  1. I agree with Capt Wolf, fantastic use of colour Elos, great work! I'm also jealous you've managed to obtain some of those new leaf pieces!
  2. It wasn't this one by Slegengr that you were thinking of was it?
  3. Love the cart Kai, I can definitely see how delicate it must have been - looks like it could have been very frustrating to balance! The landscape looks great aswell, especially the light yellow. Great work!
  4. Great interior scene. I like how you have conveyed a busy atmosphere with lots of clutter and yet everything at the same time looks so neat and clean. I also really like the base - looks great on an interior scene!
  5. Nice use of the 1x1 round bricks on the awning stand - I don't think I've seen that before - looks good!
  6. Great work with the landscaping and as others have mentioned, the colours in this one look really good. Cool collection of pigs as well!

  8. Mills Phase 1: Horse Drawn Mill
  9. As winter draws nearer, farmers rush to process the last crops of the season. The higher fields are often far from the nearest mills, so simple horse drawn mills are utilised to process the crops in the fields themselves. Here two farmers can be seen processing the last of their crop. Nothing particularly complicated about this one, mainly I wanted to try a new base technique in preparation for my water mill project which is nearing completion. As a horse mill is an AoM requirement before the water mill, I figured I'd try it on that subject. I also wanted to try and get the pine trees looking straighter this time around... not sure I was that successful though.... :)
  10. A sugar press in the Jameston cane fields.
  11. In the cane fields of Jameston it is harvest time. The harvest is good and there aren't enough milling facilities to keep up with the supply of cane to be crushed. Simple oxen drawn presses have been set up in the fields of the smaller plantations to alleviate this issue. A rather simple build to be licensed as a factory in Jameston.
  12. I was thinking the blue head denoted a male, the tan a female? The design is a slightly modified version of the emu in the Lego Animal Atlas, but at minifig scale I was going more for a moa type bird than an emu.
  13. Big Birds indeed... coming soon....
  14. And just a little dark brown as well! Looking great so far! Thanks for the advice @soccerkid6. I’m experimenting with the landscaping technique you used above and on your sawmill build and am very pleased with the results so far.
  15. Lol, I was just about to comment with a link to that one! I licensed it as a factory at the time and I think it's the best way of making your prisoners useful to society the company! The only prison I've made was this infamous one also in Mooreton Bay, it was art and culture based on the 'Government buildings' ruling. The only other examples I can find are by @blackdeathgr (one and two) and it's unclear from the topics what they were licensed as. I suspect the first was a residence which also makes a lot of sense for a prison.
  16. Nice scene! The minifigs and carriages have definitely helped flesh this one out from the original pictures. I'd have probably used even more minifigs to really convey the sense of a bustling port. The white and dark red building is my favourite, the SNOT dark red slopes on the side of the building and the detail around where the train tracks cross are definitely highlights. I'm not sure why you didn't join the red slopes at the peak of the roof? It kind of looks odd just finishing like that. Nice work on the crane, lots of detail here to like. The yellow building feels a bit plain, maybe some windows or something to break up the 'flatness' of the solid back wall? What is the tile piece you've used on the roof? The SNOT blue water is a good idea and the smooth surface is much better than exposed studs IMO. Nice work.
  17. Great lively scene Drunknok, and I like the blue and white Bavarian nod with the banners and bunting!
  18. This is really great Prof, a fantastic example of a plantation. I thought about attempting industrial scale trellises for plantations before, and your design is perfect (I will probably steal one of these days!) Great work!
  19. Great pleasure barge Bodi and quite original for Oktoberfest as well I think! As others have already commented, those cones make a really cool looking roof that works really well with the far eastern themed. Great job!
  20. I like the light blue highlights in your army, it's a colour I rarely see used in Lego castle armies and it looks very cool! Also works great with those shields! I also like that you have made a unique 'local' army that has it's own banners and colours. Nice job!
  21. If this is any example then I am definitely looking forward to more Kaliphlin at work! I really like this farm. The simplicity of the building suits the subject well and the colour pallet worked out really great. The description of Juz-albieta is cool and nice use of the vegetable piece from the Harry Potter CMF series. Nice work!
  22. Cool thanks! I really enjoy looking at other people's WIP shots as I think you can learn a lot from them. It's something I've always wanted to do more of and as I've slowed down my building and am trying to concentrate on improving the quality of my builds, I thought now would be a good opportunity to try it! Anyway here it is... and the source image I'm basing the design on (building on the left) Any recommendations/tips for anyone are more than welcome! Some comments: I've been indecisive about the roofing. On one hand, I want to use the MDF/dark tan tile combo as featured in many of @soccerkid6's builds to tie in what I identify as classic 'Mitagardian' style, but the source material I'm basing the build on has timber roofs (or thatch - it's hard to tell). I think that a mixture of reddish brown and dark brown roofing will; however, be too much brown. The brown plates on top are only to get an idea of what the rest of the roof will be, the pitch will be slightly shallower but I am waiting on a BL order with some more old school hinge plates to fix them in place. The part I am really stuck (and this is the same for 90 percent of my builds!) is the landscape. I always seem to build the buildings first. Then attempt to add the landscape - which I mostly suck at! I've noticed that many of the builders I admire often seem to start on the landscape, but this is something I've never really been able to do... Anyway for this I was planning an irregular base, although the tricky thing will be that it will need to be at least two bricks higher than the the base of the mill to accommodate the full water wheel. Any suggestions on how you guys think this should be done would be very helpful! Thanks all!
  23. After a short pause, I am back working hard on a large water mill, hoping to have it finished in the next fortnight! Just wondering, is there a dedicated WIP thread where we can post WIP shots and seek feedback? Or is here the appropriate place for that?
  24. I’m really loving the colour scheme on this one, that classic yellow looks great!
  25. Either is fine and we have seen examples of both in the past.
