  1. Don't have toysrus here anyway, but this must be the funniest thing i've seen. What a bunch of random. Who dresses like that?
  2. I suppose every company with this problem evaluates the expense of running after them (usually an endless game of whack-a-mole) versus the long term loss of ignoring the issue. The problem for lego is more about reputation damage through potential confusion with real lego, than loss of business.
  3. I am very well acquainted with both bugs and 2cv's having driven both a lot, and i also don't get how this resembles a citroen.
  4. That's a really cool design, and a huge improvement from the last one. I am not a fan of the color though if it's plain genneric blue.
  5. Why do you need mudguards for that car? They aren't very pronounced on the real car. I did one in medium blue. Some of those slopes are a bit hard to find now though. http://www.vincentoverland.com/junk/cmi1.jpg
  6. Cool, plastic John Lennon. Who wouldn't want that? Hopefully the upcominig acoustic guitar mold makes it into the set.
  7. I believe Town hall also said "temporarily out of stock" for a while when it went out and never came back, those markers are very undependable, i think they are automatic and don't really show any real insight into stock unless it specifically states a date. But even if pet shop is out, I think there are so many sets hoarded by wannabe resellers in the last 5 years, that it will likely be available on the secondary market for retail if not even below.
  8. Besides knockoffs getting a head start (which they probably get through inside info from the factory before it reaches us anyway), leaks present the product in an unfavorable way. Presentation is overlooked by consumers, but if you see a new set on a blurry photo taken in poor light with someones phone, you are very likely to get a poorer impression of the final product and not get as excited about it as if you had seen it shown officially through hi-res renders. Leaks often show unfinished and unpainted elements assembled in the wrong way - especially true for minifigures. We also don't know what sort of deals TLG has in the contracts with any licence holders, it probably states a reveal date which lego has to vouch for.
  9. This IKEA effect is news to me, but quite interesting. I wouldn't dispute the effect entirely, but I'm pretty sure if it works, it only affects some people or cultures. I would never feel like I created furniture that came pre-cut and painted with instructions (although often very confusing), but I also built furniture from scratch in the past. The process with ikea isn't fun nor do I benefit from any more sense of accomplishment than I would from completing any other chore. Pre-assembled LEGO sets is completely different, i wouldn't buy a built set, if there was no building involved, you could just get a die cast or one piece realistic model instead. what would be the point of bricks? Only collecting i guess, but collecting is a psychological disorder in my opinion and in this case irrelevant.
  10. Sold out on Belgian and French S@H. Was waiting for June to get some with the summer sets, but guess not. Edit: and now removed from the shop entirely, even the German one.
  11. Very well thought through model
  12. 1) As soon as I figured out a way to get a card despite the fact you don't ship here, I singed up online. 2) The points, I see them as a discount. The giveaways are nice too but not as key. I don't care for early access. 3) Promotions such as "free chicken man with purchase" does actually make me consider purchasing when I otherwise wouldn't as well as double points. 4) Occasional free shipping for lower thresholds would be nice. Expanding the countries you ship to would mean the world to those restricted. 5) It is fine as it is, I don't want special treatment in that sense and you already have one of the best customer services.
  13. Era correct cal-look bugs have no bumpers and no chrome, don't think they'd do that. But a surfboard would be cool.
  14. I'm finally done with the Grocer. subbed 1x8's for 1x4's and grooves for masonry. If grooves ever make a comeback, i'll replace them. If you are using masonry bricks, and you don't want a ghastly 1-brick wide untextured gap on the left end, you will have to modify the build slightly and use 57 of the 1x2 masonry bricks for the fascade, versus the 48 or so used with the grooves.
  15. I almost didn't click this, guess I thought a lime house couldn't possibly be any good, I'm a limeist. but i've been enlightened, this looks glorious. You could film a miniature sitcom just with that house. The furniture is quite fancy too, you can tell it's not the cheap stuff from ikea.
  16. Bricklink is great and being a bit aesthetically outdated and confusing goes in favor of deterring the sort of idiots you are likely to find on trivial facebook groups asking things like "how much is my haul worth?' while using a flower patterned tablecloth for a backdrop If they can't use bricklink, then less sellers have to deal with them which means we get better service with more trust and less restrictive rules and fees. I try to see everything in positive light, that or I really like Bricklink and I'm biased by my extreme admiration. I don't use ebay much, because all the good stuff is in Germany, and they failed to mention my country in postman school.
  17. Don't think you can take phones or cameras in the vault.
  18. I trust that tlg by now has a well developed system for determining what will sell well, and how to cut short anything that doesn't. I don't care for minecraft, but I see people buying it. I almost hate anything superhero, but i don't go thinking they should do something else instead. Not everything is meant for me or afols.
  19. All 3 of your designs look considerably better than the origial sticker dependent ones. I am just not a fan of transparent slopes for windscreens, but I don't like the original 4-wide either, not sure how to solve that, and is it so hard for lego to make a low 6wide windscreen, it would open so many possibilities for car building.
  20. I hope it looks nothing like the last one which was basically just a brick sculpture.
  21. the extra sidewalk doesn't bother me, but I plan on putting 9V train tracks for a tram in the extra space and tiling up the tracks to blend in with the road.
  22. I've never seen such an ugly model with such pretty pieces. There's also a fridge magnet with the cmf lady liberty for sale in NY. Must be a popular store
  23. You don't have a very subtle way of expressing your opinions. It's not the first time you came off as very rude in discussions. And I care about reusability.
  24. Sure, i army built spooky girl, but it's not exactly something you expect many people to do. I might be underestimating Disney's popularity, but it seems very linear. A certain movie is extremely popular for a while until it isn't, and then it comes down to either waiting for a sequel to resurrect it or wait for it to mature a couple of generations for nostalgia value. Judging by the characters chosen, there seems to be a lot of mid-80's to mid 90's kids targeted here which basically means AFOLS
  25. I wonder how well these will sell. Cmf's seem to be a rare exception where licensed figs might not do as well as generic ones. I am going by the Simpsons, and I am sure these will do better, but i still have a feeling we'll be seing Disney packs on shelves long after they are gone. There are no figures i would think anyone would want multiples of, not that many unique and versatile parts, and even in this topic, not many of you expressed a wish to get them all. But what do I know, I thought the same about the mosters and they seem to have done alright.
