I keep looking at the Winter Village entries, and I keep coming back to this one. You mentioned that you might change the corridor on the second floor. Have you given any more thought to that. Good luck with the contest. Andy D

I just got this set yesterday. I was considering passing on it, but when I saw it, well, I caved and bought it. I built the CC today. Not a difficult build, but still fun. I also believe this is a good introduction to micro scale building and I plan to do more in this scale. Considering getting a second set for parts, but I don't know if I could break it up for parts Andy D

How much did you spend on Lego in 2011?
Andy D replied to Legacy Man's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Way more than I care to admit or add up or write down! I know I spent way less than the big spenders. Maybe I'm about average. But my new motto for 2012 is "Less spending, more building" Andy D -
I really like it that some posts keep coming back. This one is worthy of coming back every once in a while just to remind us of it, and to show the new folks what is possible. Some of my favorite parts are: 1. The covered entrance, it is really nice looking and adds so much of a finishing touch. 2. The balcony, It just ifs so well and like the covered entrance adds so much to the front facade. Thanks for sharing this (again) Andy D

Wow! Another great MOC. This one amazes me as much as the first one you posted. I really like all the little interior details you put into your MOCS. They are more than just buildings, but are occupied. Andy D

This is really quite nice and very unique in terms of what I have seen as typical Town type onstruction. I hope you have time to build another version that is smaller and more in line with the contest rules. I believe if you did that your B&B would be a very strong contender. I really like the use of Technic elements with studded elements! Andy D

Rebrickable.com
Andy D replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@technicmad You have a great site! Thanks for doing this. I found it quite by accident as I don’t normally read too much in the Technic and Mindstorms area too often anymore. You really should get the word out in the General News Forum. If you believe that TLG might be looking at you with a legal eye, maybe it might be better to be proactive. Contact TLG and ask them about your name, if they feel it can be a trademark confusion and let them know that you would like to work with them toward mutual benefit. If it goes to a legal matter, the site may get shuttered and that would be bad. But if you take the initiative maybe things can be saved. Just MHO, Andy D -
What I am getting from all this is to present enough photos, but not too many, to adequately show the MOC, MOD or whatever. Then maybe provide a link for additional, supplemental yet hopefully interesting photos to off-site. What I plan to do is to try to keep the number of photos to 10 or less (of the appropriate size) in-thread, then provide a link to my album for additional photos as well as larger sizes for those that want to see greater detail. Thanks to all who participated in my question. Andy D

What will you remember from 2011 with Lego?
Andy D replied to eliminator's topic in General LEGO Discussion
2011 was a fun LEGO year for me. I after building the Café Corner from parts from Bricklink in 2010, I purchased several Modulars in 2011. Bought parts for Green Grocer from Bricklink and assembled the Green Grocer and Grand Emporium. I have not yet had time to assemble the Pet Shop or Fire Brigade. These are not the only sets I bought and have yet to assemble, got a closet full. Yep, I bought way, way too many sets and spent too much time collecting sets and parts for future projects at LEGOland CA and PAB wall. I completed my first MOC (I still need to take good photos and present it here) I hope I have time to assemble sets, MODs and MOCs in 2012 and don’t exercise my credit card quite as much in 2012. Less spending, more building is my motto for 2012! (yeah, good luck with that one ) Andy D -
Happy New Year everyone. 2011 has been a good year, I hope 2012 is better for everyone! My only resolve is to try to have more fun in everything I do... and build more. Andy D

I like it! The sleigh is very nice, and I guess Santa can take off the skis and put on wheels for areas that need it. The flying " reindeer" reminds me of pegasus (my dad had a Mobil station many years ago), looks like good way to make sure that the lead "reindeer" gets off the ground. Andy D

I have been thinking about posted photos on EB. I see some posts that have quite a few photos and I scroll through them and look at them all. I have seen some posts that post a sample of the photos available and then direct you to a second site to view the remainder. If I am sufficiently interested by the photos presented I am more than willing and I do go to the second site to view additional photos. I’m not a Knight, so I can’t make a poll, but… What do you like best? (a few sample photos or all that are available?) Andy D

Very nice, looks like a busy store. I was really struck by the windows overall design. Andy D

This is really great! I like it that one can have a refreshment, then a place to sleep it off. ;) Very nice use of space in a corner building. I may have to add this concept to my Winter Village for next year! Andy D

I finally got something in my Brickshelf account and even more on my vanity site at MyPlasticBricks.com The first is my LEGO Christmas display. I have five (5) photos on Bricklink and 25 on MyPlasticBricks.com The first is an overview of my Winter Village. This is a close-up of my Winter village with kids waiting to see Santa. This is a view of my modular street with a Christmas parade going on. This is a close-up of the Christmas parade. St. Mary's Of The LEGO Brick There are 20 more photos on MyPlasticBricks.com, just got o the home page, and select albums from the menu. I have included thumbnail images for those who just want a quick view, larger size (800 px wide) and full size for those who want a better look. The Church is my fist MOC and is called St. Mary's Of The LEGO Brick. I hope to put together a better introduction to St. Mary's in the near future. I hope you enjoy. Andy D

Now that MOCpages is back up I can see it. This is just amazing. In addition to just building a tall (tall, very tall) tower. I like how you put some really creative details into each level, so it was not just a "let's see how high I can stack these things" type of build. The kitty was just playing. But I'm still glad it wasn't my creation that got knocked over ;) Andy D
-
Oh, well, it must have been something that just showed up when I was looking for your MOCs. Sometimes the sidebars are confusing. I really look forward to more of your creations and participation here on EB. Andy D

Very nicely done! The winter village really needs a pizzeria. I really like all the details and the colors would fit right in. Andy D

Are you a top-down or bottom-up builder?
Andy D replied to Legoist's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have only completed one MOC, but I tend to be more of a Top-Down type of person. I do a lot of planning to get some major details ironed before I start any project (not just LEGO). For my MOC, I planned, then did a little LDD to verify some ideas, then did a little prototyping, then did the model mainly as a "free-build". I guess most of this comes from my own mind set (I plan everything), and an engineering background (although not practiced in over 20 years). Andy D -
I hate....! Share your building annoyances here...
Andy D replied to Mr Benn's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This exactly my annoyance. But, If have a spare, and the misused brick doesn't spoil the looks I will just use the spare and move on, but if no spare, I disassemble and reassemble. Andy D -
do you read through the instruction book before buiding?
Andy D replied to happymark's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I always build by the book. I don't yet know how I would build a large set just from the photo of the finished model. I always find something I can use, an "ah ha" moment about something the designer did that was unexpected. Andy D -
Is it just me? Or have all the photos vanished? On second look, it appears that MOCPages is not working correctly at the moment. Andy D

After looking through your photos for the third or fourth time I am even more impressed. Your interiors are wonderful, very detailed, over the top great! Your window detail is wonderful, very carefully planned and executed. I really like the rooftop detail as well. I also really like some of your other constructions particularly the house you made from the MMV 10193 set and your reconstruction of the Fire Brigade. I was looking the other day and I saw a particularly funny bathroom vignette, one most couples can identify with, but after I told my wife and went back to look for it, I could not find it. Is it gone? I hope to see many more of your MOCs and MODs in the future! Andy D

Very nice! I really like all the exterior details, and all the interior furnishings are a really nice touch. Andy D
