[TC5] The Dawnbreaker
MajklSpajkl replied to MajklSpajkl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, Rockbrick got me wondering. At first 68.7x34R seemed really ridiculous to me, but the more I look at them, mounted on this little horsey, the more I like it What do you think, I say it's too bad the 9392 Quad had such small wheels. I have no other wheels between those two sizes, and anything bigger would be, well, just ridiculous Cheers! -

Really unique Idea! So how did you wanted it to work. Will the video from RCT3 be in anyway connected to the controls, or will you just program it so that it siuts the video? I also don't understand why it is necessary to produce a phone app, can't you do without it? I would really like this one go through to the finish... -
I love it! Job well done! 200 pats rm8? I'm guessing at least twice as much. NIce renders too, which CAD software do you use? Is it just me, or rendering from LDD in POVRay takes forever?

Hi, I've asked Conchas about whether should we leave mockups of PB motor in our lxf files. This was his answer on TB blog: "I prefer you do not use mockups. It will make verification work much easier. ;)" So no direct comfirmation if there is s PB motor in LDD, but it still helps. I created a mockup of the PB holes, which wasn't that hard, you just have to build in a way, that hinge align tool can't deform it. I will submit the lxf without the mockup. Worst case scenario is 5 points for a part missing :-)

It looks very nice. Interesting rear axle! I think it might be better than the new 42037 coming next year! Very well done for your first model and for rather unusual combo of sets. Could you please add a photo from below? Best regards. -
HI, I started working on the TechREVERSE competition and I'd like to see what you think. Looking at the photos of the quad, it seem to me, that there has been a change in the mold for the pull-back motor. The one on quad seems flat, the two that I have have ridges on top. Also, the one on the quad seems slike it only has one hole on top, like it is a stud shortet??? I wonder...

4 per week!? Reviews of your kind?? Wow, I'm guessing either you took a few days off at the office, days are longer in Poland (I'm thinkin at least 33,5 hours/day) or you're not from our solar system ;-) I am humbly waiting since the day all for 2h2014 was revealed. Getting it all so soon...thank you man! Oh and about that gearbox, I feared they will lure as in on that ugly duckling with something :-) -

Maybe 42034 was left out for the Techreverse at TB?! -

I believe "caster" is the right word and spelled ok, it's what I've found on the net. I agree, ground clearance is low, the front hits the ground when fully compressed. About bigger wheels, I tried a couple I have, nothing satisfying really, I'll try to take some photos over the weekend. Thanks, I sent you a PM. Thanks, saturation? I don't know much about :-), I just selected the blury wheel in PS and used smart sharpen filter tool until I was content... So much about my theoretical knowledge on photography ;-) -

Yes jesse66085, it looks better right? Fuzziness on that wheel on the first photo really bothered me, but only when Jim highlighted the photo I tried to repair it. I didn't thought of the solution earlier :-) -

Wow, thank you guys for such compliment. Actually, members Thirdwig, Splat and you Jim are responsible for these photos, since I read this thread a couple times, drulling over Jim's photos of the official models and gave those advice a shot. I have borrowed a Canon EOS 450D with a fixed focal length Canon 50mm from a good friend of mine quite some time ago, but struggled with lighting setup and didn't actually know which setup would be best. I don't have a normal tripod, just a micro one, so I had to stack plastic boxes to get a good height and angle, lights that I use are hobby construction line halogens, that I borrowed from my dad, again no stands. When I set everything up, I almost couldn't move in my 2 by 2,5 meter working room . Anyway, the results are by far better than anything else I've taken before, ofcourse some work in Photoshop was also done. The one thing I didn't follow was RAW format, because I still use CS2 and it doesn't support RAW images, at least the version I have. About the actual photo you guys like: There is one bit that bothered me the whole time, and I think I made it right on the photo below. Can you tell what did I repair, cause if you don't, then it's just me and I'm overreacting. At least my wife thinks I do Old one: And the new one: Thanks again for such kind words. @miguev: No problem, but I think I'll wait till the competition ends, in case I decide to change something... Best regards, miha -

Robot boxing? Sure, but it won't work without Sbricks or something similar, all the channels have been used on this puppy :-) -

Thanks miguev, perhapse you should start looking for a good price on 42026, 'cause I've already taken photos of building sequnce, they just need a bit/lot of editing, since I wasn't paying too much attention to lighting, and some came out a bit fuzzy, maybe I'll just redo it. I think I'll get the BI (photo sequence, nothing fancy) out on rebrickable, but probably best after this competition is finished... I don't know, perhapse it would be good if someone tried it out before voting, or bad, if the model doesn't live up to expectations. I guess I'll have to sleep on this one... -

Hi, I like your bike, it reminds me on those from Mad Max movie... Whether is good enough? Who knows? A 100+ people voted for previous mini contest, it is hard to say what will move so many people to vote for a specific model. I think it is more about how are you satisfied with your work. If you're not, try and build further, you can always return to what you have already built (better take some photos while dismantling it). I started building with a totaly different pair of sets, didn't work, moved to another pair, now I am satisfied with the result and now I just have to wait and see. Good luck ;-) -
Thx, for the photo, the tyre looks better the ay you mounted it first. I mounted mine 106mm in a way that they are not in either of the grooves but are touching the inner side of the grooves, so they're kinda in the middle of the wheel, it works well too. Left is in the grooves and right one is as described: Yeah, and the air hisses in and out when squeezed, but the grip on the wheel is fantastic opposite to original lego tires.
