  1. I like it. I've always loved the VW shape in custom vehicles. I think that stems back to my youth and my desire to own the 80's Tamiya Sand Scorcher RC car ...
  2. I like it. It'd be good to see a photo with the hard top removed Edit: Actually makes me want to get the 42001 set.
  3. Looking at all the fantastic entries, as someone whose MOC skills are limited, I find myself torn between inspiration and intimidation
  4. Seconded re the Bricklink store!
  5. Amazing MOC! Great functions and clean lines. I guess the only question is over the drive. Not so much the speed, from my point of view, but the apparent jerkiness of the motion. I'd still build it in a heartbeat, if I had the pieces! Obviously, the heartbeat would be for decision making not actual build time Great work
  6. That has reminded me of several near misses I had as a kid, back before the Dark Age. We used to build helicopter launch pads using Lego and beef them up with high speed motors from RC cars. The rotors were made from sheet metal from biscuit tins, taped to a Lego gear and mounted via an axle to the launcher. The number of times I ended up with a quivering rotor stuck in the wall of the shed, right next to me ... makes me shudder to think back
  7. The more I look at this racer, the better it gets. A few more shots from different angles would be great!
  8. I think the lines look good. If you look at the AW609 and the V-22, both have fairly straight lines in profile. In fact, the V-22 actually has a square fuselage cross-section too. I'd stick with it
  9. You might try using coffee or tea to stain the sails. I've not tried this but, they do a pretty good job on everything else that you want to keep white
  10. There's a You've Been Framed moment, if ever there was one Ah, the dreaded broken nail! And the price of manicures isn't getting any lower
  11. You don't by any chance solve all problems?
  12. Ok, we all tread on a brick now and then; it's an accepted hazard of our pastime. What I'm interested in is any other injuries that people have suffered related to LEGO. Personally, I've been suffering for months with tendon problems in my elbow. I had put it down to sport but, I'm now convinced its more to do with the sacred brick than anything else. I'll probably stick with calling it tennis elbow though. Lego elbow just doesn't seem to sound very convincing So, over to you ... any interesting, gruesome or just plain amusing tales to tell?
  13. Just finished the build on this earlier ... its a lovely model, with some great design features. Looks great on display
  14. DOH!! How did I miss them yesterday?!! I've got the 42009 as well!
  15. I like the lines of the fuel tank in the 3rd picture.
  16. I'm not aware that TLG ever released 16L axle in black. I was looking for one yesterday.
  17. Great work! I have a soft spot for tilt rotor aircraft
  18. The standard of the MINI entries keeps getting better. I too really like that this has such strong links to its 42000 big brother
  19. It is a great Mini build Zblj, and I have ordered the pieces to allow me to complete it If i were to try a camouflage version right now, it would only blend in around a beehive
  20. Just finished putting a version of this tumbler together, though not with all the correct colours. Batman most definitely does NOT work in yellow There are some great features on the design. The only area of minor concern I have is the rear shocks, which appear to be a little distorted to accommodate the steerer axle. As I say, this really is a minor point
  21. This is something I've always thought of when defining the MT sets ... they were the flagships of the day. One great model that was designed to be built and stay built, as a display piece. Not to be broken down and rebuilt as an (often) inferior B model. I'm not sure what TLG would now class as their overall flagship models. Maybe some of the bigger creator sets have taken on that role?
  22. "...nothing unnecessary part and weigth..." I love this statement, followed by: "Has a fake L6 motor in the back too:"
  23. Lovely build! I'd love to put one of these together.
  24. The youth of today! In my day, Lego used to go through hell in the name of play and still be fresh as a daisy
