  1. They look really great! Small but perfectly formed! I particularly like the penguin and the lion as well, the shaping on them both is particularly good.
  2. No idea, however it is a good idea to provide a link to where the event details can be found, so that others in the area who perhaps didn't know about the show can have the extra chance of mind out about it through your post.
  3. While thinking of your next model that wil be infinitely better than the current one! That's the only way that I can persuade myself to take apart my MOCs!
  4. . For that specific model, no, it isn't the best choice. The basic rule of thumb for super zoom compact, (non interchangeable lens), cameras is that the more zoom you have, the more you sacrifice image quality for convenience, as to fit all that zoom in, the manufacturers have to make the cameras sensor really small, so Houghton lose low light, (high ISO performance).Overall, I think buying used for a DSLR camera such as a Canon 60D, (or older model if that comes in over budget). The image quality in a DSLR is going to far greater than the camera you linked too. In regard to buying used, if you are careful, and check for dust inside the lense and on the sensor, (as well as exterior damage of course). Good luck!
  5. So, just to clarify, a city / town themed MOC? If you were wanting a specific design, such as a modular building style creation, some of the builders have the instructions / CAD file, (generally designed in either Lego Digital Designer, which is free and cross platform, Brick-Smith, which is Mac only, and there is another free Windows only program which I have forgotten the name of), for some of their models available for purchase on eBay, which, with some adjustment, might fit you purpose.
  6. Unfortunately smaller than expected, but the inclusion of a full circle of track is a nice surprise when compared to the Horizon Express! Overall, one of my favourite recent sets, though I still wish it came with the PF parts instead of having to buy the separately. Who knows, perhaps it will be sold through S@H eith a kit option including the PF parts as well, like they did with the horizon express.
  7. It certainly has! The clones are now ripping off the Brick Set logo as well! http://brickset.com/article/23022/lego-clones-are-now-ripping-off-the-brickset-logo
  8. Great work! I really like the wall texturing.
  9. This has interesting potential for Lego photography of medium to small size MOCs, although it isn't cheap. It is essentially a portable, easy to setup light tent with inbuilt LEDs for lighting the subject of the photo evenly. It measures570 x 490 x 150mm. More information on it can be found here- https://www.dpreview.com/articles/8781378731/sooc-studio-is-a-portable-foldable-photography-studio-with-leds Overall, I think it is just too expensive for what it is, but I am sure there will eventually be a cheap, Chinese knock off!
  10. Yes, shipping the model in one piece would be very, very difficult! At the very least, there would be a significant amount of repairs to do to the MOC once it arrived. Brick link is the best place to shop for specific parts, with many of the stores based in Germany having an excellent range in all sorts of parts, including ones for use in your viking layout. I also recommend going to an official Lego store where they have Pick a Brick, (or PAB as it is sometimes called), where you can buy bulk lego by the cup full. It is luck of the draw for what parts they have there at the time though- there may be some there that would be useful to you, and there may not be. From a quick search of Flickr, (where most of the images of MOCs are hosted), these might make good inspiration for techniques to use: (Note, none of them are mine, click on link to be taken to the image page, where ether is a place to comment / ask questions). The Green Goblet by Isaac S., on Flickr GoH: Findolfia (main) by Simon Schweyer, on Flickr Viking Fortress by Lukasz Wiktorowicz, on Flickr Wykeham Farmstead by Mark E., on Flickr Life in Nordheim by Isaac S., on Flickr Also, make sure you post work in progress photos so that we can give you advice on how you are going. Another thing that might be useful si getting in contact with a local Lego user group, (or LUG for short), a map of where they are located can be found here- https://lan.lego.com/lugs I hope this helps!
  11. . It certainly is a great ship, and excellent for parts.
  12. Another strange email notification, I am not sure if it is an EB error, or one with my email provider. I can forward the notification error to anyone who wants to have a look, however I have pasted a copy of it below. (I just removed my email). 13. Sigh... "Avalonia is the best guild", say the Avalonians. The best guild is the one that the new member is joining. Perhaps the best guild is the one that is hardly mentioned... Valyrio!
  14. Personally, for large layouts, I use an array of cheap but sturdy, white plastic foldable tables which have been great, though they do need to be used with a table cloth to make them presentable.
  15. Thats a very interesting purchase, with quite a few opportunities for use in MOCs. There should be a way to program it, or at very least use a different flash memory chip to add your own sone effects, though that would swapping the one which is currently attached to it.
  16. Great re make! You have managed to translate the fell of the set to the new MOC really well, all things considered.
  17. Welcome to the guilds! Also, welcome to the best guild! I look forward to seeing your future builds.
  18. From what I can see from the pictures, it looks really good! Feel free to send me a PM if you could like any specific camera advice. I recommend keeping an eye on the used market as that is the best way to get a better camera than you would otherwise have been able to afford / one which takes up less of your Lego budget!
  19. Absolutely incredible! There really are some very impressive techniques here, the mountain, rather unsurprisingly, steals the show, but the technique used for the path and some of the roof designs are standout in their own right.
  20. Basically, you just have to buy all the other things you need / pay the bills first, and them spend a portion of whats left on Lego.
  21. Very impressive! I really like all the details you have managed to add. I wish I was there to see it in person!
  22. Nice one, I really like how you didi the furled sails on the ship.
  23. Welcome! In regard to your question, I know for a fact that Brick Warriors, Brick Arms and Brick Forge are excellent, reputable sellers of custom parts. Alt Bricks are also good as well if you are after some different colours of plant parts. I haven't of the others on the list.
