Ah man, this wagon takes me back. I remember as a kid my go-to Lego character when playing with friends was a warrior-merchant with his own huge wagon full of weapons and treasure. They always looked a bit like this. I guess that means my reaction to the build is that there's room for improvement, but I like the rough feel also.

Thanks Kabel. Only problem is, those are pretty small builds and there aren't very many in there. That, though, was one of the threads that originally inspired me to not only join GoH but also Mitgardia! Especially that one MOC of the guy walking in snow. EDIT: Never mind, OP just hasn't been updated in a while. Maaan, some of these MOCs! I guess one of my issues is that, because people use frames and bases that obscure what's going on "beneath the surface", I'm not sure how they construct these great landscapes. Gunman, etzel and Soccerkid's especially. Those guys are some of the best in Mitgardia. Hopefully someone can shoot me some tips about that!

Hey guys. I have kinda hit a wall with my last Warlords of Nocturnus build. I find I'm not very happy with my landscaping and I think it's mostly do to having to pile on layer after layer of plates of various sizes to make it look good. The shape and size of the build's base is going to be similar to SK's recent battle scene (this build is heavily inspired by that one!) but I'm not sure how or what pieces to use to pull off a nice, natural landscape that doesn't wind up being too high due to layering. For context, I'm looking to do a scene with a creek in the middle, so I set up a baseplate in blue to build over with trans-blue 1x1 dots for water, with some light tan plates irregularly placed to form crooked lines of sand bordering the river. On each side of the river, the landscape is grassy with one side rising up a bit into a rocky formation and the other with thick trees and foliage. I have a lot of dark tan, light tan, light green, dark green, etc plates at my disposal but I'm not happy with the attempts I've made to use them for this! Can you guys recommend a tutorial or methods you use to do this? So many people on GoH are really good landscapers and I've looked at a lot of builds. If there are some that you think are particularly good, can you link them for me to look at? Very much appreciated! Also, I hope it's okay to use forum space on a thread like this.

Yeah, Ecc kinda got the ball rolling but with more classic dragon designs. With this smaller wingless dragon, seems like there's a lot of room to get creative with Historican fauna.

Great build. The mixels and Legend Beasts from CHIMA should yield a whole generation of awesome brick-built Historica monsters. In fact, I think there ought to be a contest!

What a great house. Looking forward to brighter pics. I will definitely have to check out the story behind your interesting fig. I love the daring of using that robot head in this setting. It really works!

This is great. Everything about it, but especially the overall design of the room with many interesting details like the altar and throne area. And man, those figs!

Hahaha, awesome. I don't know which team I support!

Love this. Reminds me of the Nova ship from the new GotG sets in all the right ways. In my opinion, that's one of the best fighter-class ships TLG has designed thus far.

Would you be interested in forming a Steampunk-themed persistent MOCiverse ala Guilds of Historica? That is something I'd be interested in. -

McCoyed from Mitgardia, voting Nocturnus thought it was a terribly hard decision since I LOVE the smaller Avalonian ships.

That tower is gorgeous, well done. The arrow slits are some of the finest I've seen and the arch over the door is just a perfect subtle touch. There's actually a lot of subtlety in this build. It's one of the best Lego towers I've seen, I'd say. -

Haha. Doubtless the powers that be have great plans for us, but it is fun to speculate. -
Wow. Well done.

That's awesome, Kabel, but I do wish we were all allowed behind the curtain. -

I will probably keep things as is, then. But thanks, I'm glad I asked about this even if only for future reference. -

I'm in the planning stages of my Warlords of Nocturnus Phase 3 build. I am starting to get the idea that, though it isn't expressly against any rules, it may be a bit off that I'm doing builds for that. I think I'm the only non-Nocty doing it! After that, if things are quiet for a bit before the next phase of Civil War, I'll concentrate on Mitgardian builds. Speaking of which... is it possible to change my sigfig/main character before the conclusion of Chapter 2? I have this sense that sigfigs/main characters aren't crucially important to GoH unless it is to the individual builders. Some seem to use their sigfigs, others use a variety of characters. I think when I started out, I had more ideas for Captain One-Eye than I do now and I fear I may not return to him and his crew very often. But if it's not necessary to change sigfigs or anything, that's fine too. -

Ch II: Team Simon: Cat A: Passing Information
mccoyed replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
My favorite thing is probably the flower stems popping up off the undergrowth foliage. It makes the area look dense, obscured, and potentially prickly to access. I don't really like the wall that much, unfortunately. I think it could be a bit more textured even in such a confined space/brick count. That said, the terrain and trees are so good that the build doesn't suffer.
