  1. Love the floor technique. I agree with Scaevola about the water, though. I think a couple of shades of trans-blue would have made it pop a bit more. My sigfig is probably a regular at Kaliphlin spas.
  2. Yeah, that hillock looks like the work of a magician to me. I'd love to know more about how stable it is and how you pulled it off, Etzel.
  3. I appreciate your input also, Gabe. Especially since it speaks to me both as a builder and someone who does shy away from more elaborate critiques and discussion of others' builds due to what I perceive as a relative lack of experience and skill. I'll try to find a better balance between humility and willingness to be evaluative in the future.
  4. Yeah, I definitely noticed that when looking at the photos. Did not notice when I went to take pictures, unfortunately. I was wondering if anyone would pick up on this, especially looking at Flickr, where there are a few pics where it's terribly noticeable. One problem I made for myself was with the side of the rock-face that remains attached to the "grassy platform" piece of the build. When the detachable main rock section is put in place, there are too many seams. Thanks, Gabe. The armored spiders and the design of the drow are pretty much the "victories" of this build. The interior also unfortunately suffers from poor planning on my part. I built the space to be seen from overhead but it's very difficult to take pictures of. I have been moving away from my old building style of modular/openable dioramas to stuff more suited for photography. That said, I've seen some builders on GoH find a happy medium so hopefully I do too.
  5. This is why I asked... was trying to make sure this was/wasn't an open thread. I guess we can clutter the boards with different threads for steampunk figbarfs but wasn't sure that was kosher. Thanks for clearing that up.

    Canadian Eh?

I'll go take a look at the TMNT sets, thanks. I only got one small one so far, but they do appeal to my nostalgia.
  7. Is this thread open to anyone who wants to toss up a steampunk figbarf?
  8. Thanks guys. I will keep this in mind.

    Canadian Eh?

The main reason to get Knowhere Escape is the minifigs. The little ship Rocket rides is kind of cool, but the rest of the set isn't that exciting. The Milano is the best Lego ship I've ever bought and built, but to be fair there haven't been many. Has the Quinjet beat by a fair margin, though.
  10. That makes sense, SK. I just wondered if I could be more inviting or something, haha. And yeah, it's busy around here lately. I can internet from work. That's how I went through the entire history of GoH so fast. I try to comment on everything also, but I don't usually have much to say in terms of criticism because I am outclassed by most of the builders for the time being, haha.

    Canadian Eh?

I did like a few days later. I got Knowhere and the Nova mini set. Then a few days after that I got the Milano. I was very happy, let me tell you.
  12. Another question - why aren't you in Guilds of Historica?! Great work!
  13. Yeah, after seeing How to Train Your Dragon 2, the first thing I wanted to do was make stuff out of Lego.
  14. Thanks! I hope my ideas make up for my fledgling skills!
  15. Challenge 2, Category A: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=96834 I have a question for you guys, by the way. I sometimes see other GoH builders add "C&C welcome" in their topics and I wonder if I should start doing that. Some GoHers are always good for some thoughtful criticism/remarks on a build, but I wonder if people have the idea that I don't want any criticism since most of my stuff gets nice, brief comments and little criticism. I am not that good, I don't think. Should I be making it explicit that I'm friendly toward constructive criticism?
  16. I have barely used my character since I'ved joined. There's too much to build and play with! If you want to stay in the same guild, just do builds that don't involve your character for a while. If you like your character, why not revisit him/her later?
  17. I too would like a status update. I also wish I'd seen this earlier on in development but I wasn't a member of EB til April. I would have liked to be one of the people in that secret thread helping to plan things, but I'm a relative newcomer so here I be.
  18. Oh cool. I didn't know this thread existed. Some of my first (crappy) MOCs were Marvel ones. Here they are:
  19. I was the one who asked. Great work here. Would love to see how you built most of these. Was into MFZ for a while and wouldn't mind getting back in with the new space ship rules.
  20. Amazing. I LOVE The Matrix.
  21. I keep coming back to this one. Very much an inspiration to me for the kinds of small vignettes I want to be making.
  22. Thanks everyone! The riders are definitely my favorite part too. Especially the one eating the Avalonian flag. Haha.
  23. Ah, shivers! Then they are having the intended effect. I am pretty proud of them. I was stumped trying to build them so they wouldn't be too close to the Mirkwood spiders from the LOTR set. I opted to keep the leg design but switch up everything else and include some armor plating on the head and thorax areas. The armor makes a nice saddle-like structure for the drow to ride in.
  24. Great build. Love the rock and tower and ostrich-wagon! Also dig the inclusion of a Chima raven helmet. That is, if it's supposed to represent a medieval/renaissance era plague mask. If so, I had the same idea a while back and was going to do something with it if I'd been assigned to De Gothia's team. Good show either way, Gabe!
