Age of Mitgardia-Stables Phase 1-Eindrin and the Eggs
mccoyed replied to mccoyed's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks guys! Most Mitgardians would agree with Lord Damaximus. The chobo, especially fully grown, is a difficult animal to bond with and control. They're big as houses!- 17 replies

I think you can do better. I really have to stress once again that you should take a look at all the history of GoH and try to learn from some of the techniques our resident builders have used and designed over the years.

Yeah, the photography on this makes it difficult to appreciate the build's details and techniques. Would love to see this again with clearer pictures.

I dig the tools. Not sure the minifig hands in the streets work, though. You're pretty good at cramming details into a small space. I'm jealous of that, especially because I'm currently working on a build that has a smallish house which I need to do an interior for.

Very cool. The troll reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus, which is awesome.

Yeah, this ship makes me want to take another crack at it. Would love to get your take on my ship, The Hold Fast.

First GoH build to use that awesome harpy armor and wings! I have some of that myself. Also, just a great ship all around. Will look amazing with sails.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Really dig that second shot, Infernum. Feels like a scene from a film almost, just a very complete and evocative look to it. I also like the golem with the orc. Intrigued by where that could be going! -

Don't let Ecc scare you off. He's one of the handful of builders who really go for the scale on occasion just to remind the rest of us what it is to be a titan. The rest of us stick to smaller stuff, because we're mere mortals. -

Yeesh. Dunno when/if I'd ever be able to make something that scale. Amazing so far. -

Hmm. I didn't know Mitgardia had a policy about minfig style. I just use whatever I feel is appropriate to the build. Usually yellows though simply because I have way more. I used Fleshies for my Nocturnus humans because I wanted to differentiate them. -

Wonderful ship. If you check out my flickr, I built a very large turtle-shaped ship that is sort of clunky and awful to look at now. Your ship reminded me of it, because of its general shape, but it's way better in design and execution! Granted, yours is smaller and differently purposed but still! I like this ship a lot.

Love the eyes and the baldric. Great work here, Simon. Would love to see a wing of these guys in similar fitting riding out of a misty wood.

Thanks guys! I'm working hard on photography and finally getting to a place where I'm feeling okay with it. I am also still experimenting a lot with landscaping and figuring out what I like and what I think looks best. It's so much fun! I dunno if I'll ever have a consistent style and I owe so much to builders like yourself that I feel a little bashful about such a nice comment!

Thanks guys! Ha! Don't let their cute appearance fool you. You drop your guard and the chobo knows. Thanks. It was very important to me to convey a sense of speed!- 17 replies

Great build. Colorful but not overwhelmingly so.

Amazing build. Love this movie. Great candles and stairs, never seen those techniques. The bonfire also looks better than most similar attempts I've seen!

Thanks everyone! I really like this build personally, and especially that first pic. One of the best Lego pics I've ever taken. Just wait for Phases 2 and 3! The idea behind a rickshaw-type wagon is that chobos go so fast that anything bigger would stabilize their gait too much and slow them down!- 17 replies

Knowing there's no time to waste, Eindrin races the eggs north to the stable where he is apprenticed. His faithful steed, Kensley, is barely an adolescent chobo but still strong enough to carry Eindrin and the eggs at a dizzying speed across the snowy landscape. "Hie forward!" Eindrin shouts into the wind.

Elna and her son Bjar lead Eindrin, a Chobo rancher, to an abandoned nest. "What happened to the mother?" Eindrin asked. "No trace of her," Bjar said. "But mother has kept an eye on the nest in case she returned." "No chobo have come," Elna confirmed. "But I've kept away scavengers and predators until you could arrive." "I see," Eindrin said. "You were right to send for me." Elna and Bjar live a secluded but full life, hunting game and gathering what edible plant life grows wild in the deep forests of southern Mitgardia. They are happy to show Eindrin the eggs, knowing that he will see them to a safer place.
