  1. What an unusual and beautiful build. I actually like these dogs figs because they add more variety to the existing Lego dog breeds which are basically like... chihuahua, german shepard, huskie, and cutesy Friends puppies. These big dogs look like mastiffs.
  2. Even yeti need clothing sometimes. But where did they get it? And why? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=106410 yetimarch1 by mccoyed, on Flickr
  3. Even in the far North of Mitgardia, midsummer is a time of green things and the flourishing of new life. That is the way the many bands of yeti have always remembered it, anyway. This year, however, something is different... where normally even their light summer coats are enough to keep them warm, these yeti of the Horned Mountain Tribe are finding themselves pierced by unusual winter winds, and not just the odd unseasonal gales that occur throughout the North on occasion. These winds are bitter cold, and bring snow that doesn't melt. For time immemorial, all yeti have shunned the use of fire. The bravest of them consider it bad luck, but the average yeti hold fire in primordial terror. If there were anyone around to see it, the sight of yeti creating stoking a fire and examining the unmelting snow would be something not even the skalds would believe. Eventually, even fire is not enough. The Horned Mountain Yeti, led by the elder Raimo, make their way to a known summer camp of the warg-hunting Wolf Tribe. They've recently had unusually good sport for the summer, a stroke of fortune they are disinclined to question because this year, there will be many hides and much trade with the humans. The leader of this pack of hunters is Theud, who looks on the Horned Mountain Yeti as friends. Today he thinks they must be mad, though, as Raimo explains that they wish to trade for the hides of a great brown warg taken recently. If yetis looking for animal hides wasn't strange enough, one of Raimo's band is carrying a torch. A torch! Were they mad? But they are not mad. The yeti may not know what has changed in the North to bring on such unnatural cold that even they are humbled, but they do feel deep down that the North is no longer safe. No longer a land for Yeti, Wolf Tribe, or Humankind. They give Theud a sincere warning before they depart, wrapping the hides around themselves for warmth. They travel South, where they have heard it is always warm even in winter. Along the way, Raimo's wife Heikki gives birth. The baby almost dies of the cold before Raimo manages to find a fur cap, which he liberates from the corpse of a frozen Mitgardian. Raimo does not know what killed him, but does not stick around to find out.
  4. By far the best fig-scale ship I've ever seen.
  5. My Mitgardian characters are.. busy at the moment. I will possibly be using the Yukar tribe which has settled near Queenscross (and will support whoever Petera MacLean is supporting). Also, what are you guys using to make these gorgeous maps?
  6. My $0.02 about the fig parts used here is that the body armor works fine (as long as the back isn't visible) but those legs are much more obviously "futuristic" in design. Too late to change it now, for this build, anyway, but I can see why people have reservations about adding GS stuff to Historica. It's always a tough call mixing in parts that skirt the edge of authenticity in a medieval-ish setting. I really like the story in this build. There's a nice mix of "could this be the answer to our prayers?" and "what do these people really want?" here. Great escalation of tension.
  7. Great story. Love the bit about the baby mummy and the well thought-out comments from all the merchants. How trustworthy are these Ulandians? They definitely moved into Kaliphlin fast.
  8. I'm happy to see more lands get added to Historica, personally. I hope more guilds eventually too.
  9. Nice inclusion of Norse characteristics. I also try to keep that front and center in my Mitgardia builds.
  10. Skyrim is definitely the place to go for Mitgardia inspiration. Tremendous build, SK. Saw it way back on Flickr and wondered why it hadn't turned up on GoH.
  11. Awesome build. I saw this on Flickr and can't believe I missed the story post. Your stories are always great, and very well presented. That mini-model is also my favorite thing.
  12. I like how the ship is kind of barely in the frame, making it sinister in spite of its whiteness, a color usually associated with safety and purity rather than menace. It looks like the boatman's face is getting some frost on it, too. Is that an unintentional byproduct of the camera effect here or was it intentional?
  13. This build features some of my favorite landscaping on GoH thus far. I love the way the beach rests organically in the grasses, and the way the rockwork and levels of terrain look so natural. Some of that Kabel expertise definitely at play here. Favorite part is the drunk guys around the campfire, though. Awwww yeah.
  14. This is pretty cool. Clever and rich names, as always!
  15. Very cool series. Love your Nocturnus figs.
  16. Favorite is the djinn ambassador. Some really unique combos in this one. Great work!
  17. Awesome work. One of my favorites easily. I love the Philosopher for personal reasons (philosophy degree :P).
  18. Very neat use of technic pieces here.
  19. Very cool story. I like that Logan questions the morality of killing orcs "because they're evil" and also questions the value of vengeance (seemingly). Every now and then, it's fun to take the usual fantasy tropes to a more sophisticated place.
  20. Very cool introduction to whatever's coming next!
  21. Finally wrapped my head around the giant cyborg bear.... Book 3, Build 1
  22. One of the most beautiful castle builds I've ever seen, especially at this "medium" scale without much outside landscaping stuff. Gorgeous work, outside and in. I really liked the story too, but no idea who wrote it with you. :P
