  1. I just read that if you order a Fairground Mixer (10224), you get a free Hotdog Stand polybag, on the USA S@H site.
  2. They did the FB with two 16x32 baseplates linked. I have an extra large baseplate, 48x48, so I think they could do a 32x48 if they wanted to...
  3. I agree that this is the best route. The cheapest part is the one you already have! I have spent way too much trying to accumulate just the right parts for a project. I am also now buying sets with a large number of parts I need in them, I think that will save me money in the long run. Its hard to find sets with a lot of useful parts though, for me, some of them are retired and gone up in price and out of reach.
  4. Time is running out for the TH, PS, and GE. I would buy now if at all interested in them. It might be too late for GE, at least in the US. My first one was the TH, I liked the colors and size I guess. Start out big and then worked my way through the others... :-)
  5. Since its now VIP 2x month, I was perusing the US S@H site. Noticed that the TH is now 'sold out,' the PS is 'out of stock, ship in 30 days,' and GE is 'call to check availability.' I think they are getting snatched up thinking the end is near for each. Judging how the GE has gone from available to sold out and back again over the last month or so, I am sure the others will too.
  6. I think I will get this set for my 11yo niece, she likes the 'Friends' line. Then I can see what the color looks like in real life. I like it, but maybe can be overbearing if not put with the right accent colors. Black, white, dark gray look good with it.
  7. Uh oh...I got a 3rd GE. It came back being available in the US and I couldn't resist getting another. Now I need to find the time to do what I wanted with it. I want to expand the original one, with an annex, say, 16 x 32 size. and make the original 4 floors high. Me and my big ideas! LOL...
  8. I am curious of what color scheme they will use on the next modular. There has been dark orange, sand green, sand blue, tan and dark tan, dark red, along with a lot of gray. I am wondering if the new modular might be predominantly white. If its a moderne or art deco design, it might be mostly white... Anyone else care to make an opinion? :-)
  9. I remember back when I was a kid and not liking how the old 1x2x3 doors looked, part #32bc01 (http://rebrickable.com/parts/32bc01) and I broke out the dividing bar to make them look like windows instead. Much nicer in my eye. I didn't have any qualms about doing that then. Now though, I would never think of modifying parts.
  10. I've got a problem getting to the 'order status' page, I click on the link on the main page and it brings up the the faint image of the page, but the clock never stops spinning and it won't load the page. It was doing it yesterday, and trying again today, its still stuck for me. I restarted everything and still no go. I am on a Mac with Safari 7.1. Maybe thats something to do with it, Safari updated a couple days ago.
  11. I heard this on the radio, and found it on a local news site, and wanted to share. Just one photo though, It consists of images made in Legos of prisoners of conscience, past and present. The exhibit is in the old prison on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. Here is a link to the story, it has several parts to the exhibit, the Lego is one part. http://www.sfgate.com/art/article/Art-review-Ai-Weiwei-installation-on-Alcatraz-5775639.php#photo-6899695
  12. FYI...this is becoming silly maybe...but the GE has again reemerged from 'Sold Out' status at the USA S@H to 'Out of Stock' with a delivery date of 2 October. I guess they found a few more to sell.
  13. Thanks, I hadn't seen that page yet. I emailed the seller and they changed the status for me. It must of been another glitch, that I couldn't change it, I was on my iPad trying.
  14. So, I am not a seller on BL, so don't know what it looks like on that side of things. Today I checked on a few outstanding orders I have placed, and one of them, has the status of "Completed" even though I haven't received it, and the seller has just today shipped it. I found the tracking number added to the order. I thought only I, as the buyer could change the status of an order I place to 'received' or 'completed' after it arrives. I guess I am wrong on that. I emailed them about this mistake, and hopefully they will correct it. I can see the potential for a problem if it does end up missing or damaged somehow...Hopefully not.
  15. Sales tax out here in California is between 8 and 9% most places, 9% where I live. 6% would be nice! Haha. Definitely need to do some research when traveling.
  16. Indeed, its sold out now. Along with the Haunted House, which ended the Monster Fighters Theme. Now they are pushing out the VW Camper, with a free mini van with purchase. All 3 of these sets have been on the top sellers list for weeks, even though they all were back ordered for most of that time.
  17. I am glad too that they are adding to the Architecture line. I missed out on quite a few of them, buying the Robie House was what got me back into Lego. I was just about to buy the Farnsworth House and they retired it on me! I want to get the Villa Savoye next, for my birthday. Every time I fill out the 'Product Feedback Survey' if its for an Architecture set, there is an extra question asking for suggestions for future models. I always ask for more Frank Lloyd Wright buildings. My favorites, Martin House in Buffalo, or Price Tower in Bartlesville. (I think most of the sets are good attempts, all except the Guggenheim, which I think is the worst representation of a building ever...)
  18. I washed a BrickLink order of some seriously smelly plate parts. Wow, even the shipping bag they were in reeked of cigar smoke. I really dislike buying used parts...but some parts are only available as used!
  19. I like this set, nice review. I built all the 3 versions, and then rebuilt the main house version, its still in my City layout. I think there are no children minifigs because there is only one bedroom, and it is SMALL...haha. I think the best feature is the light brick and the way it makes the chandelier look like the light is coming from it. The car, is a bit pitiful to me. My 11 yo niece always comments on how bad the car looks...LOL oh well... I keep it in the garage, and the door closed ;-)
  20. They are asking between $70 and $120 for this set in the USA on BrickLink...forget it...I would only of wanted one for the parts. It is quite strange that they would only make a small number of this set, and then go overboard with the Ghostbusters set, which there seems to be a huge supply...bad planning...
  21. Now that the Haunted House is retired, that color is going to be even harder to find. It only used 1x6 bricks, but they aren't cheap either..
  22. I just bought a couple things on the USA S@H site, and was able to still get the Retro Space freebie with my order, over $99 (D2C Minifigure Retro Set 2014, Item no.: 5002812) It was supposed to end on 15 Sep. I thought, but I guess they have some available still, so if you wanted it, and missed it, you might still be able to get one. (Need to be VIP member too.)
  23. Me too.. I ordered a couple things at the same time and they are still including the D2C Minifigure Retro Set 2014, the classic space minifig for orders VIP over $99. I thought it was ended on the 15 Sept. USA S@H. ....FYI....
  24. Looks like the Haunted House set 10228 is sold out on the US S@H site. I'd been waiting to see if it would come back in stock, but I guess not. The Monster Fighters theme is gone too.
  25. I thought this was interesting, while reading the BrickLink Forum. I found a thread on the most overpriced items on BrickLink. This Tager figure at $15K is probably the winner...Wow! It is available at Brick Brothers Trading CO. out of Utah, USA :-) http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=8325-1
