  1. ^ I too have been looking at the parts list for GG, and was wondering about the 4 white train windows used in the bay window. They are only used in the GG so rare and super expensive. To me, it seems like a huge waste of money to buy them to build it. They are installed inside out too, so the uniqueness of their shape barely shows on the outside. Wouldn't regular windows work and look just as well?
  2. Watch the YouTube review by Brickformula. At the end of the review, he shows each bag, and what should be in each bag, all laid out. I love his set reviews, too bad he doesn't do them anymore. Here is a link:
  3. Love Poirot too, very nice job.
  4. Oh gee...I like Dr. Who, I saw the movie Wall-E, but buy a Lego set for either? Probably not....my kind of project (ie buildings in general) doesn't have a chance up against the mainstream interests...
  5. I have a sneaking suspicion this 2X is going to fall in between major set releases...got to love marketing :-P so you either risk 'out of stock' or buy early and miss the 2X. I don't know the dates for some of the later sets, but I bet its how it goes down.
  6. The 2015 calendar I got free at the VIP special sale I was invited to, has/had 3 coupons to tear off the bottom. The January one was for a free Lego store employee minifig with any purchase, the February one is for a free Han Solo Hoth minifig with any SW purchase, and the March one is for a free Build a Mini with any purchase. All of them are only good for 'in store' purchases.
  7. Nice review, thanks! My niece wanted to buy this set when we visited the Disneyland Lego store, but they didn't have any. We got a free shipping code and told to buy online. She loves the set too, plays with it a lot with her friends.
  8. I got a large cup a couple days ago. I mainly wanted the 2x2 tiles, but got a bunch of other things, that I thought I could use in the future. They didn't have any 1x2 tiles, I really wanted a couple colors of those..but nada. I love my store, after over a year, they still have the really tiny wheels and tires that don't match... Here is a photo. The blue jewels were nice, not sure what I will use them for though. :-)
  9. I would like that to happen too. The Changing Seasons set looks incredibly small, same as the Beach Hut and Toy and Grocery Shop sets, so small when you close it up. The box art always uses the illusion of size with the model opened up.
  10. I would wait for 2x points, but then again, they might pull another 'out of stock' surprise. ;-)
  11. Here is a link to some photos...oh and the RRP of $349.99 Ouch! http://brickset.com/sets/76042-1/UCS-Helicarrier
  12. I think 40145 was only for those at a brand store grand opening, BrickLink might have some for sale..
  13. I am trying to figure out WHY is there a helicopter in the City Square set? Arghh..
  14. I was at my Lego store today, and got another print copy of the February 2015 calendar. It shows for 17-28 February, for VIP's, early access for a new Lego exclusive set. I usually see a lot of ideas or rumors on these events, but haven't seen any yet here. Or maybe I have missed something? Does anyone have any ideas on what the new set is going to be? I would love to know!
  15. I went to my closest Lego shop and got a pick a brick large cup, there are a lot of new parts available now, but of course, out of about a dozen or so new parts, my smaller store only had about 6 new things. I did get the 2x2 light bluish gray tiles I mostly wanted. I also had the coupon off of the 2015 paper calendar for the free Lego Shop Employee minifig, they still had some to give out. I also broke down and bought a 2nd copy of the Detective Office set. I am in the process of redoing my first copy. Used half of my VIP points on it too...
  16. There is also basebrick.com I use it, and its reasonably easy to use. I like how I can import my BrickLink orders.
  17. I have only been back to Lego for a year, and I am a little embarrassed how much that I have spent. I have vowed to cut back this year, and from the news I have seen so far, I think I will easily cut back a lot, since I haven't seen much that I want to get this year. I got the new modular, and beyond maybe the new City Square set that is coming, I don't see much I will be buying. Maybe some of the seasonal sets. I do seem to keep a steady BrickLink supply going...about $15/month...
  18. Nice work, yet another version of a toilet! Nice job there. ;-)
  19. I had to laugh at that beard on the crook minifig too.. Visions of Lego gone "Deliverance" Haha.. Nice review, lots of closeups gives a good idea of what is included.
  20. At my job, they got us each a sit-stand table, it had a motor that would raise the entire thing up to a preset height, and then back down to sitting height. They took ergonomics pretty seriously. I liked to be able to stand part of the time. I like to stand up when I work on my Lego, part of the time. Usually when I am trying to find certain parts, my parts drawers are easier to see when standing. So I might stand up to find a part, fiddle with it with what I am building and then sit down again to work some more...
  21. Thanks for the comments, I haven't tried to buy any individual minifigs, so didn't know the ins and outs of it. I guess if they let the clerks give out the specific codes for them, its OK. Seems kind of silly to make them random and then defeat the purpose that way, I guess its up to the customer, if they want to take their chances on a random purchase or not.
  22. Haha, I know what you mean. I read in the set review here on Eurobricks that the instructions were all in one book, and I was worried. Would it be a stiff book like the Ghostbusters set and crack apart when opened up flat!? Arghh. Well at least its not that bad. It is obvious if you flip through the instructions, and come to what would of been the end of a sub booklet, there is an advertisement page, and then the next page goes into the next part of the build. It must of been a last minute change, probably to save a few pennies. Save a few staple's costs..haha. It wasn't worth it to Lego to reformat the book. I bet its going to be the norm from here on, with the larger sets. Haha, me too, I usually build in the afternoon, and go get a beer to drink while building. ;-)
  23. I agree, I got the last City Square set, mainly to get the bus, and had to take the little crane and street sweeper, which now sit on a shelf. I would of preferred another building in lieu of the vehicles..
  24. Something I noticed on a trip to my local Lego Store. There was someone going through the polybags of minifigs, and one of the clerks came over to help. I was looking at something else near them and noticed that the clerk had a piece of paper with code numbers printed on it, and from what I could tell, they were the codes for the different mystery minifigs in the bags. The customer was looking for a particular couple of minifigs, and the clerk had what they were written next to the different numbers. Is that OK to do? I was wondering if anyone ever got any help like that to find the particular minifigs they needed for their collection, and didn't want to buy randomly. Seems to me, it isn't right. Any thoughts, experiences? I don't collect any, just was curious about it.
  25. ^you peel the protective coating off, it is very similar on both sides, but if you pick at it, you will see which side peels off. It just slides loose into the grooves created by the brick pieces around it, as a frame.
