  1. I am curious if a lot of people are going to buy more than one DO right away, or just one and then buy more later? I was thinking of getting 2 right away. I want to increase the depth to fill out most of the baseplate. This set reminds me a lot of the false front buildings on a movie back lot, like Universal Studios.
  2. I retired early, when my job was being moved, I didn't want to leave behind all my family and friends and house. So now I get a pension, and its less than a third of what I was earning. I have managed to do OK though, still buying too much Lego...haha. This next year though, I will want to be more selective with what I want to get. I always look for sales and deals too. I keep looking for possible new jobs, but its not very often I see anything. I wish you all luck in finding something soon.
  3. Oh shux, haha. I was going to 2x points it with a Simpson's house set, to use for MOC parts..but eh...
  4. Great job, nice inside and out. I see yet another use for the white lifesaver ring part..haha, the prices on BrickLink for that part keep going up (they are on to us)! Cheers!
  5. Oops, too late already, says delayed to 21 Dec. now. I was going to find one more thing for a gift to combine for points..but oh well. Seems like just about everything is either out of stock or delayed shipping now anyway.
  6. ^That is the best place for a park, nice job, its very colorful. Having the stair and dining terrace of the PR next to it, makes for the best arrangement. Cheers!
  7. If it lasts till Sunday, can get 2x VIP points, I just got an email today about that, 14 Dec.
  8. I got the Arkham Asylum Breakout set (#10937) to turn into a modular...I just built it and its currently looming over my Winter Village Market Christmas scene..haha. I just noticed yesterday that it is now Sold Out on the S@H USA site though. I got it just in time.
  9. I have about 30 piled up too, mostly under a side table to my PC workstation desk, no legroom, because they are piled up, I can't get an accurate number! I better fix that. I have run low on display space too. I am not sure how long my Winter Village Christmas display can take over the dining table!
  10. Does anyone know if the DO will be a VIP early access set? I don't recall if the PR was when it debuted...
  11. Ah yes, that must be it. I redeemed $10 of points, and that is the difference in the new points...I wonder why I have never noticed it before.. Thanks!
  12. I decided to purchase the discounted set 'Kingdoms Joust' (#10223), on the USA S@H site the other day. Today it was processed and I got the tracking number, so the VIP Points were added to my account. The only thing is, its for a lesser amount that I was expecting. The set is usually $119.99, and the sale price is $95.99. So I was assuming the points I would get from it would be 95. Well, what shows on my VIP account is 87 points. I also got the set 'City Coin Bank' (#40110) for regular price of $14.99 and I would of thought got 14 points for it, but it shows as 13 added points. Am I missing something? Why would it be that much less? Is there some catch that it was on sale? I am at a loss. If anyone can enlighten me, I would appreciate it! Has this happened to anyone else? I am going to call tomorrow to find out.
  13. I spent the day measuring and then drawing up a plan in Adobe Illustrator for wainscoting in my remodeled laundry room. I have over the past month tiled the floor, tiled the back wall of the bathroom, painted, and reattached the sinks and toilet. I am pretty handy..haha!
  14. The PR is the only only modular that doesn't have a flat roof. If it was any deeper, the roof would be huge. I think that played a lot in the design/size of it. Just my humble opinion.
  15. Not a set, but the book, 'LEGO® Architecture: The Visual Guide' is $39.99 on S@H USA, but I just got it for $22 on Amazon.com, USA site. Its a hardcover book too.
  16. I like the new proportions. Just that on my iPad, which has a smaller screen, it takes up more space, but I will get used to that. On the bigger screen, it looks fine. Scroll on... ;-) I am wondering about the facial expression on the elf in the sleigh though..haha!
  17. I was wondering the same thing about the middle section, it technically should be the blue shades, why is it different? Since I spend way too much time on BrickLink, I know that that brick patterned brick only comes in the nougat color in a 1x4 size. Its in a few more colors in the 1x2 brick (tan, grey), and I wonder how it would look in the tan color. Maybe a better look would be tan, and just have some of the wall in the brick pattern, kind of like the way the side wall of the PC is done. This is the first modular that I feel like changing to suit my tastes too, and not keep a pristine original, like I have done with all the others I have.
  18. The small print on each of the 3 freebies says 'may not be combined with any other offers'.... hmm....So would have to make 3 separate purchases perhaps? Eh,....
  19. I had a rainy Sunday here today, and finally built my Santa's Workshop set. I was waiting till after Thanksgiving to put it together, and arrange it with my Winter Market set. I came too late to get any of the other sets, I wish I had known about them! I had a problem with Santa's Workshop being too small, like some others feel. I decided to make the clock into a tower, and here is the results.. I just used parts I had on hand and I like it a lot this way. The tower space has a crate with the pieces to put on the reindeer, when they are not attached to the sleigh harness. :-)
  20. I'm curious on everyone's idea of where to fit the DO into their layout/street. I am thinking of squeezing it in along this part of mine. Its the business district part. With shops and the FB and my own mocs. The FB ambulance annex I moc'd is finally done and in place. I don't think it would look right next to the town house and my other house moc. Here are a couple of photos.
  21. I read some more info on who got picked to attend this event. You needed to have filled out a lot of customer surveys for when you visited the store. I have filled out all of mine, and gotten replies from the store managers afterward, thanking me for feedback. So I don't think its just how much you have spent. This makes sense, for me at least. I have bought a lot, but the majority was through S@H, since the store is a half hour drive for me.
  22. The VIP Shopping invitation was just 2X points, I went and that was it. I did get the calendar at the event. I also got the 2nd Christmas freebie, and I also got another by ordering something online yesterday. It was a one day deal for VIPs, on 22 Nov.
  23. Lots of nice details, very nice job. I like the shower enclosure idea and the dress rack idea. Thanks for sharing your design! The skeleton in the attic, with the bottle..haha nice touch too.
  24. All that wasted space in the back. They could of added a lot more to it filling it in. I just might do that... In one of the photos..it looks like the mini fig is sweeping up a decapitated head...oops...I guess its supposed to be barber hair trimmings...
  25. I have had some issues too with the PC, the limo is a bit lame. Its as if it got stepped on, and flattened out.. I agree too, why have stairs to the roof, in a theater? There aren't enough seats in the theater, and it could of been done with a 3rd row and have it stadium seating, so the back row is higher than the front. I was going to make that change to see how it would look, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I added gold lattice panels to the arched windows on mine. I don't like holes like that!
