  1. Ok, I cannot help notice that again, tons of sets that have sold out and are no longer available have sprouted sale prices that I know were never actually offered (USA S@H). Take for example the set 'Town Hall' (10224) which sold out this past fall. I know it never was sold at a discount price, yet now, in just the last few days shows on the S@H site as being discounted from the regular price of $199.99 to a 'sale price' of $179.98. I look nearly every day for sales and the availability of sets, and know it never went for a discount. I find this very deceptive. Or perhaps I am missing something, is there some hidden way of getting things for a discount not known to the general population? Is it some marketing ploy? Enquiring mind wants to know...haha!
  2. I think I have killed a few, but they eventually are revived..haha..
  3. I am a rare bird that actually reads and enjoys all the opinions expressed here, not just the latest couple and ignoring the rest previously posted. I get a lot of ideas I haven't thought of myself and love to read the yay's and nay's about different sets. Cheers. I noticed also the small parts leaning too. I think it has a lot to do with the availability of the colors used, most are just in the 1x2 to 1x4 sizes. Plus the jumper plate usage kind of dictates that anyway. I also am on the expansion bandwagon, and was thinking of having the detective's office have an outer, secretary's office. I think nearly all the noir detective movies had that kind of set up.
  4. Nice job, thanks for sharing it. Maybe a different type wheel, to have wheel covers (hubcaps) attached.
  5. I agree that a phone call would be best, from personal experience. Sounds like a flag has been raised too, though.
  6. FYI, I think they have run out of the Flower Cart freebie (USA S@H), I had it in my cart last night and its not there anymore. Rats, I wanted to get a second one too...
  7. ^^I thought all the 1x1 black round plate parts were with the hole, but going through my leftover pieces, I did find one solid, so I agree, there are some of each in the set. I have 3 leftover with the hole. I need to organize my parts differently, so I don't mix them up!
  8. I have something from most all of the themes, but have the most of the Creator line. I am a building collector and its got the most buildings (i.e.: modulars). Next is City theme. If a theme has a building as a set, I will probably get it.
  9. I got another storage cabinet for Christmas, and have been filling it up with my bricks collection. Sorting IS an endless task! HNY! :-)
  10. I put the extra silver 1x1 cupcake part on the bottom of the barber pole, to make it symmetrical with the top...makes it a little too long maybe... :-) Am I the only one that thinks the columns on the ground floor of the Highlander windows look like rolling pins?
  11. I just added my DO to my street, the business district side of the block...I thought a few photos to show how it integrates into my own MOC's and the other modulars would be nice to see... Can see the difference in size too, from something the size of the TH and the FB, the DO kind of gets lost in the last photo...I am going to move back 1 stud my wine shop moc, it does stick out a little on the street line...
  12. DO is out of stock now, with 12 Jan. date to ship in USA. Looking at the most popular list of sets on the S@H site, DO is number 4 beat out by minifigs and Elsa's ice castle... Did the PR ever sell out when it was first available? I didn't get it till February...
  13. I noticed that too, all of them. To avoid confusion maybe... I was also thinking about another detail...for me, an interior light should be a trans clear color, yet, all the interior lights have a yellow trans part used. Maybe in LegoLand there are bug problems, so they use bug lights inside? Hahaha,...
  14. Very nice job, I like the proportions of it.
  15. I have always liked the fireman helmets, the silver and gold versions. I have a whole bunch of them somewhere in my collection.
  16. Me too, I was wondering if I missed a page to fill in the upper part of the wall between the pool hall and the steps area between the two buildings...maybe its to make it less confining when playing with it? Now that I am sitting and looking at the finished product, the angle from the rear is a real mishmash of different colors...LOL I still want to add on to it, and make the pool hall larger with a bar and a table or two..
  17. Fantastic review, thanks for going to the extra effort, appreciated! I picked one up yesterday, at the jam packed Lego store near me. Lots of them flying off the shelf, mine, I actually picked up off the stack on the floor when the clerk got distracted and set them down, he said I could take one..haha. I am only half way finished building, and its been fun. I did make a mistake, and had to tear most of the barber shop section apart to fix it. I got as far as the 'Al's' sign, and realized, I used the medium blue 1x1 bricks in it for under the center section. There are two 1x2 medium blue plate parts that are under there, and like a fool, I grabbed the wrong color blue 1x1 bricks...arghh! It was getting dark, and the instructions have the same problem of dicerning the different shades for my old eyes. It was a challenge to put it back together again without looking at the instructions! I am not that happy with all the traditional small instruction booklets being combined into one thick booklet. It is harder to lay flat, without mashing it down. Its obvious it was printed to be separate parts and then combined into a single one. As you go through the sections, you flip the page to an advertisement page, which would of been the back cover if it was printed as separate booklets. Cost cutting I guess. It was even wrapped in the crinkly type bag the parts usually come in. I am already planning to add on a back section to make it larger, and add a bar and table area to the pool hall. I feel a little gipped too with the sidewalk tiles, I was hoping for more 2x2 dark grey, but they filled in a lot of the sidewalk with tan and brown...oh well. They could of put some sidewalk tiles in the very vacant looking back yard areas... It is nice to get some parts I would normally never see, since I have a limited interest, mostly modulars and buildings in general.
  18. They seemed to have enough stock to go around at my store here in Calif. The store was packed as soon as it opened...was a long wait in line. I got just one DO, didn't see anyone buying 2x of anything, I think about every 3-4 person in line was buying either The SW Slave set or the DO set. I think they put ship in 30 days on everything as a tactic to keep the S@H site from crashing...it slowed down the orders, maybe...haha. Now everything is available like normal...I am glad I drove down and got mine in person though, don't have to wait for it to get here, which takes a week minimum.
  19. I just got back from my closest Lego Store near me here in California, and it was packed when I got there, about 10 minutes after they opened up. The line was was a full circle of the store, when I left, it was about 3/4 way round when I got in line. I got a DO, and the other couple things I wanted to get, and they seemed to have plenty of stock. I did have to wait for another arm load to be brought out from the back room though. I think about every 3-4 person in line was buying one. People were buying stacks of sets too...
  20. I am pretty random to time doing this as well, since usually, what I get are for unknown future builds. Last one took me just a day or so, though. I have refilled each cup with specific parts storage also. One is just brick separators.
  21. I got a gift card, will use for 1 Jan. new sets. I had gotten myself the Simpsons House set...for the huge number of useful brick parts..its a really bland looking set.
  22. Ack, I bought one of this set off BrickLink earlier this year, and its been parked on the curb of my modular city. Well, last night, in the dark I accidentally bumped the table, and the poor garbage truck took a nose dive off the edge and exploded on the floor. Most of it stayed intact, but one of the curved sides popped out and the tipper mechanism almost completely came apart. I had a heck of a time finding the parts all over the floor/under a bed, etc. Well, its been a while that I built it, and I couldn't remember how the tipper mech went. So being the day after Christmas, I was too lazy to dig out the instruction booklet, so looked it up on the Lego site for the pdf of the instructions. This is where I have been scratching my head and searching in vane for some parts that those instructions showed should be attached to the tipper. I checked inventories on Bricklink and on BrickSet, and discovered that a page had been added to the instructions (compared to the instructions I got with my set), which added a 1x2 trans black brick and a 2x2 domed plate to below the tipper. Neither of which were included in my set. I guess, the later inventory was amended, because of some play functionality it added. Those parts, as far as I can tell would provide support to the spot where the trash can would be attached on the 2x2 jumper plate. Maybe a kid playing with it would of been constantly breaking it off, so the added parts provide a support below it...I think it would drag on the ground moving the truck though. Ah, just thought I would share this on a quiet afternoon after Christmas...haha. I like the truck even though it leaves a trail of trash that falls though a gap in the container..and the review was very good!
  23. I usually try to fill out the LEGO® Product Feedback Survey after I have finished building a set. I think I have a few constructive things to say about what I build plus you might win something. Lately though, the last couple of sets I have tried to fill out the survey for, have not worked. First was the (40106) Toy Workshop, I got an error message saying that they have received all the feedback they need for that set. OK..it was a small freebie type set. Strange that they have a limit to how much feedback they would want for a product. Then it happened again today, same thing, we have enough feedback for this product, (40107) Winter Skating Scene, also a freebie. This is the message I got back: Thank you for wanting to participate in this LEGO survey. Since we have already received the responses we need, it is no longer possible to participate. I tried to do the survey for the 'City Coin Bank' set (40110) and that one rejected the number completely. Its not in their system at all I guess.. Strange. Has anyone else had any similar experiences?
  24. I got the email today too about another 2X points day on Sunday, 21 Dec. I am tapped out on anything else I want that is actually available right now. It usually takes 5 days to get a free shipping order to me, if I order on the right day of the week (I am in California). I should get a box this Saturday. Fed Ex has never crunched a box on me yet, they always arrive in perfect condition. I find it interesting following the routes taken to get here from MS, usually would go through Kansas to Salt Lake City then Sacramento, though since the holidays, their routes have been through Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Better weather maybe... I have only had a package handed to the USPS when it was a small box. Its not worth Fed Ex's time I guess if its small.
  25. I got the 'Lego Neighborhood' book, and am flipping through it...and also sorted out the mound of miscellaneous extra parts from the last batch of projects, put them in drawers. I thought I was the only one that mixes up the minifigs till they are completely random from the sets they came from...haha.
