  1. Nice build Narbilu! It is interesting that you don't seem to have any one particular "viewing angle" for this moc - the viewer has to move around from one side to the other to have a complete understanding of the scene. For that reason, i feel that while all the elements of the build itself are well developed, the way you have shown them is incomplete. I keep wanting a view from the other side of the moc, or from behind the main elf position, for instance. If this side of the moc was meant to be the main viewing angle, then i feel that you should have made the main entrance clearly visible from the front - that is the focus of the drama and tension, after all. I do like your drow figures though - kindof like a horde of zombie Draco Malfoy's, perfect!
  2. I'd like to apply for UoP credits for my Ch II, Cat A and C entries: Kaliphlin Medical Corps: Landscape design - Flowers and dense foliage Trade and Law - Caravan/shipping by land The Plagued Coast: General building - minifig posing Hydrology - Still water Geography - Oceanside Thankyou for your consideration
  3. Off the coast of Avalonia, a small Elven patrol craft lazily plys the water, whilst the bored Peregrinus scouts stationed on the cliffs above shiver in the damp. "Damn, i wish i was back in Baqua", grumbles one, "This posting is a waste of time - only one black ship sighted so far, and that vanishing in these accursed mists." Suddenly there is a panicked shout from the ship, and the two scouts jump to thier feet. The water around the Elven boat is now roiling, and white, hideously gleaming creatures are hauling themselves onto the deck. It is the attack they feared would come! The elves seem hopelessly outnumbered, and the situation goes from bad to worse as the helmsman falls wounded. Suddenly, when all seems lost, bolts fly from the cliffs, knocking one ghoul from the stern, and impaling another to the gunwhale. The odds are evening up! After a short, intense fight, the battle is won by the defenders. But the cost is great. One elf lies dying, the other wounded. The wounded elf waves up at the anxious scouts. "Have no fear! I will not berth, in case i am now infected with the plague - surely these creatures are in league with the black ships that terrorize the coast. I will set sail for open water and wait out my fate. Go, and inform the city guard of Calder of what you have seen - they must not be unprepared!" Ok, so this is my rubbish Cat C entry, not entirely sure that it fits the category but i did it all in a bit of a rush last night. I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity of building another boat though! Thanks for looking and c & c welcome as always! ps. I am also applying for the following UoP credits for this build: Minifig posing (General building), Still water (Hydrology) and Oceanside (Geography).
  4. The Kaliphlin Medical Corps have been brought into the fight against the plague in Avalonia. They travel between affected villages, distributing much needed supplies such as disinfectant, bandages and healing herbs, as well disseminating vital information about avoiding infection and disposing of the dead. In emergencies, they can also be called into action as makeshift ambulances, ferrying those who still have a chance of survival to the nearest designated hospice. This is when the twin ostrich carts come into their own, proving much faster than their horse drawn counterparts. The Avalonian lookouts know them well, and always allow them safe passage through the backroads. Patients who are transported are required by the KMC to wear red bandanas around their mouth and nose, communicating their quarantine status whilst also preventing the spread of disease. Their hands are also bandaged to prevent infected boils from coming in contact with the cart. Needless to say, all carts are thoroughly washed after each patient - Kaliphlin cleanliness demands no less! I am applying for the following UoP credits for this build: Flowers and dense foliage (Landscape design) and Caravan/shipping by land (Trade and Law). Thanks for looking, C & c welcome!
  5. Lol! This build really is all about the minifigs... nice to see individual shots of Durkon (cool staff btw!) and Lurtz, but it'd be good to see a front-on shot of the whole group together as well. Some more brightness to your pics wouldn't hurt either. There's not that much to the landscaping, but i like that you gave Durkon something to stand on to give his (obviously stirring) speech, and the campfire is a nice touch too. Good stuff!
  6. Aw yes.... great conclusion dG, your minifig posing really sells the emotional reunion, and your beautiful buildings make the perfect backdrop too. Love the curved end to the grey building, and i agree with Kai, the back of the street is as nice as the front! Btw, that colour on the house is med blue, right? The saturation is like woah... at first i thought it was azure!
  7. Great build Kai, I really like the interesting roof and the wyvern over the entrance is a cool design. Lots of nice detail inside the building too. It's a shame you didn't have any 1x2 light bley tiles to stagger the wall, but you could have used 1x2 plates instead i guess if you didn't mind the extra texture. Great way to keep the story rolling along!
  8. Damn Mike, that is so nice. Love the rockwork and the overhanging trees - great design!
  9. My Cat B entry for deGothia's side: The Sanctuary of Bloodleaf Shrine My Cat A entry: Kaliphlin Medical Corps My Cat C entry: The Plagued Coast
  10. Same here! I knew it was going to be a flurry of activity, but it's been so great to see all the deGothia collab entries rolling in. And us Kali peeps make up over half of that group. Go us!
  11. Nice little vignette Qiadris, the wall and vegetation is really sweet. The path could use a bit more texture though to really bring it up to the level of detail in the rest of the moc. Anyway, good work!
  12. Great work, this is massive Kayne! The arch is just stunning, and there the gradations in the water worked out really well. Your small dromon is cool too - i like the way you intergrated the shields on the front, like eyes or something. In fact, there's something to look at every way you turn with this - i'd love to see some close ups of the windmill and the tower. I'll say you've been ambitious, but you've come up with the goods for sure with this. Great work!
  13. Cheers for the feedback Z and Kai, and thanks again Z for the prodding me into revising! I guess i should update the pics in the original post now..
  14. Thanks Z! Yeah the stairway bugged me a little too but wasn't sure how to improve it - then i had a bit of a brainwave today and started making a few modifications: I swapped out the Peter look-alike too, my teammates will be pleased to notice! Still not 100% sure about the railing, but i think changing the staircase to white and grey looks a lot better. What do you reckon Z? While i'm at it, i may as well post a couple of extra shots: Here is the furniture from Dr. Rubati's laboratory on the ground floor - it was a bit cramped in there to see properly, so i thought i'd take a separate shot. The bench is set up with a custom press for extracting plant oils. As the plants are crushed, the oil seeps out of a hole in the base of the table and into the bucket below. Of course, it's a bit tall for Dr. Rubati to operate, so she has a step ladder to reach the crushing mechanism and lever. Safety first! And a last pic of the shrine broken down to the level of the 1st floor platform, so i could get at the staircase. I had a support ready for the tree in case of collapse, but luckily it didn't need it. Thanks Kai and gedren! Haha thanks Kabel, it's cool, i've come to terms with the shrine's mushroom-like character. The source material was actually the Blood Elf architecture in World of Warcraft, but i changed a few proportions and simplified a few things along the way, and it ended up completely different to how i imagined it would! Thanks heaps Robuko! I'm really glad you have enjoyed my build.
  15. Amazing stuff Robuko, i always look forward to your builds and the level of invention and parts use in this is just delightful. My fav pic would have to be the second one down, with the rancor arm seeming to hold up the roof of the ramshackle hut - the forms seem to fit together organically and flow into one another really well. So many other details - the use of the Simpson's heads nestled in amongst the flowers jumped out at me as well. So glad you managed to get this done mate.
  16. Sweet vignette Gideon! The bulk of the foliage on your tree is awesome, in addition to the pallisade it makes for a very solid background.
  17. Thanks Lord Vlad, deGothia and Torgar, glad you like it! The jointed tree sure was fun to build. Thanks Nstickney for the UoP votes!
  18. Great entry Kabel, love the overall look of it, but some pulled back pics would be great. The roofline looks really nice with that dormer window, and the snotted windows in the house are ingenious as well. Poor Susannah - looks like she's got a lot to cope with!
  19. Nice build Nightstalker! Those cheese slope trees are simple, yet look so cool! Good work on the small cliff and waterfall too. I'm less sure about the levitating teapot - the supporting 1x1 rounds mirror the waterfall too well and confuse the eye a bit. I reckon if it sat on the levitating rock beside Lukan, it might look a little more natural. I want to know who the black knight is too! Looks as though he is about to challenge them to a duel...
  20. Nice little build UtilityBelt, i like the compact footprint with the tall tower, and the way your eye is led to the main ground floor archway, where the majority of the action takes place. Given that, i would have concentrated most of your effort into making that ground floor arch as impressive as you can - here it looks just a little ragged. (The crossed spears are a neat touch though!) The action poses of the minifigs are handled well, although i'd really like to understand a little more of what's going on! A link to some backstory on why Heinsen is targeting the duke would be awesome.
  21. Nice Wedge, there are some good elements in this. Your foliage and ground cover in particular is interesting and varied. Your rockwork is satisfyingly high, but seems a little plain to me - i'd love to see some snot or angled sections to liven it up. It'd also be nice to see more form and bulk put into the little tree on the cliff top as well. But your figs are nice and i like the little scene of the dwarves working.
  22. Good entry Wedge! I do like the shape of the overhanging cliff face. However the whole moc feels a little unfinished, it could use some more detailling to make it really stand out. Could be as simple as a few cheese slopes on top of the ridge and some vines and creepers growing over the rock ledge, or more elaborate like an empty gibbet swaying from a tree on the upper level. Just something to reinforce that here is a lonely, desolate place where deeds of low skullduggery take place.
  23. Another sweet entry Yooha! I love the overlapping tiles on the roof, they look great.
  24. Ooh, a rat! Could it be the bearer of the dreaded plague? (Nah, that could never happen, it's the drow, or some miasma, or the evil eye i'm sure... ) Nice build Niku - it's a grand looking house, showing perhaps that rich are affected by the plague as well as the poor?
  25. Great entry Thomas, the full width street was a good choice, allowing you to get lots of dramatic angles for your storytelling pics. The range of techniques on show here is sweet as well - the walls of the tudor house, the burnt out ruin and the tree are all excellent. There is some really nice minifig choices and posing in the crowd as well. UoP+1 for all credits (the wall technique on the house is for the stonework, right?)
