Stunning army Jackdaw! I really admire all the effort that's gone into this. Looking forward to seeing your British army next! (Are you going to set them both up in a battle scene? That would be amazing!)

Hear hear! That's a great idea. Ah, interesting! I've not heard of that one before. I've almost reached the bottom of my bedside reading stack, i might have to check the series out. Haha no worries, easy to get ppl mixed up with such long character lists! Cool, looking forward to the next installment of this exciting battle. Please don't keep us in suspense too long!- 318 replies

Great battle reports as always, things are hotting up! The unknown author sounds like he or she might be Valyrian... (those sneaks!) Oh and a correction - the roman spearmen (which i assume were the one's withstanding the initial cavalry charge?) are not mine but PGTC troops from their Berigora branch. (Robuko sent a lot of troops!) Ah, cool! Thanks for the info. I look forward to seeing the assassin rule in play, that sounds like it could yield interesting results. Sounds great Scarst! I don't recall the kordeem story, but i eagerly await the surprises nevertheless. Aw gosh, that's something else that i don't know about. What is this WoT and the old blood of Manertheren? (Not related to GoT is it?)- 318 replies

Unless we are building ships of course... -
Great continuation of the story ME! Gosh, it is getting rather thrilling - i'm loving this storyline and your writing is very engaging. The mocs illustrate the story so well too - the FP in the first shot is especially nice, and i love the look of the ramshackle fortress nestled in the mountainside. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Thanks heaps Mike! But of course i have to credit you, it's only right after you have so kindly made the instructions for the palm tree publicly available. Ah, i see. I have not seen the film either, and for some reason i'd forgotton that there was a film adaption at all. Maybe i should hunt it down and check it out... Thanks SK and Damaximus!

Congrats fellow Kaliphlinites, truly we rule the waves! Huge hand to everyone that entered this very fun comp though, great to see so many fine vessels from all the guilds.

Woo, and we are underway! Great first report Ska, your battle reports are always so entertaining. Had a little trouble initially finding my troops, finally spotted them on the right flank. Hopefully they will see some action soon! A quick question though... what do you do with the pledged but unrepresented troops? Do you use placeholder figs for them? Keep them in reserve as reinforcements? Discard them? Just curious.- 318 replies

Welcome Hobbythom (nice intro btw ) and Zach! Good to have you both here with us. -
Looks like you have done yourself out of a bit of room at the top of the cliff, nightstalker. What you could have done was give it a bit of an overhang, this way you would have a few more studs to play with at the top. Still, the very narrow platform that the figs have to fight on does give the impression of a precarious ridge or mountain pass. I am a little confused about the second ninja-like figure in black - is he friend or foe to the Shinobi with the sai? Is he climbing up somehow (Wuxia style! ), or falling?
-
Nice moc Nightstalker! The back wall has good detail with the brick profile bricks and the wall hanging, and the stained glass window is very nicely done. The Black knight's cape looks excellent too, with it's fur trimming. The only things i might add is some extra tiles for the floor (for stone paving around the rug etc) and maybe fancy candalabra on either side of the window too.

Thanks! Yeah the printing really does add a lot. I guess you could make yr own stickers with yr own designs tho? (Something i've never tried) Thanks ME! Yeah i wanted to write in a bit of background - i figured there might be a bit more to hiring mercs than just dumping a chest of gold on the ground and saying "right, you work for me now".. It made sense to me that a standard contract would be more a half now, half on completion kinda deal. And the shared heritage aspect of the general and her new troops intruiged me too... if they survive the battle honourably, i imagine a new alliance might be made. Thanks LordDan! Yeah, i was going for the war camp feel, glad you like it. I've not read any CS Lewis, sadly, but it's nice to hear that the moc is so evocative for you. Thanks TenorPenny!

Those shield designs with the eye really do look rather smart Damaximus! Glad to see more reinforcements for Dugal for the upcoming battle. UoP: Sadly i will have to pass on all your claimed credits. What you have built here is pretty much a "fig on a plate" moc, which doesn't show enough detail or mastery of the subjects you have claimed for. -

Thanks for the well wishes! I am improving day by day, but as i have already had a bout of the flu this year, i am well and truly over being sick. Oh dear, not you guys as well! Hope your injuries are not too long term, hey. (Looking forward to seeing your university moc, Damaximus!) That is a great idea for a build Gideon... shame you can't get it in before the SG deadline. Time is rapidly running out for me too. I have this plan of building a lift up to the top of the scarp, (for transporting heavy goods etc) as well as a section of wall and a merchant's gate with a traveller's shrine. I can see it all in my head, but in my current brainfoggy state i can't get my head around how to actually achieve what i want. I've made a couple of false starts already and it's all rather frustrating! -
Cute little house Masa. Funny, in those yellowed pics, the gold chest looks almost reddish brown. (Albeit a bit washed out)
-
Wow! I didn't realise that it was quite as lopsided as that.. Still, as i seem to recall robuko writing once, good, let's clobber 'em! Although i'm sure you gents will throw some twists and turns (as well as augmented opposition) into the mix to keep things interesting. Roll on Tues/Aussie Wed! Cheers Torgar.

Thanks everyone! Glad you like the tent, it was a bit of a rushed effort. The palm is a Masa palm, so all plaudits there should be directed to him! Yeah BF used to sell the painted centaur bodies singly, now i can only see them in packs, unfortunately. All the designs are pretty cool though. It's going to be really interesting to see just what Petera brings to this party... how much longer now?

On the eve of battle at the Wither Woods, General Phrixelle saunters down to Greenbow to check out the mercenary groups that have gathered to tout their services. To her surprise, she spots a band of centaur warriors being spruiked by the auctioneer. They look fierce and battle hardened, and on hearing that they plan to use their wages to build a new village, she vows that if she can afford the price, they will trample the enemy alongside her and her gaurds. Summoning the warband leader Leena Thunderhoof to her camp, Phrixelle makes her offer. Two bag of gold stand by the table, alongside a important looking document on stiff legal paper. "These two bags are my down-payment for the services of your warband" begins Phrixelle, "and in addition, should we prevail in battle, return to me and i shall pay you the same again, plus i shall send Peregrinian craftsmen to help you build your village." Phrixelle pointed to the document. "This is my guarantee of payment. If it is acceptable to you, i shall sign, and count you part of my company." Leena picked up the document and scrutinised it, then turned to heft one of the bags of gold experimentally. She grinned. "It's a deal, knight! I did not think to find one of our kind in the army here, it will be a pleasure to fight alongside you. Give me an hour to muster the rest of the band and return - and then, on my honour, we will face battle together!"

Nice work with the landscaping mccoyed! Your battle action is dynamic and engaging too. I'm not so sure that the blood effects work so well though, especially the 1x2 plates that just sit on top of the fallen figs. Using tiles or recessing the blood on the ground so that it doesn't sit up so high might help, or you could investigate other gore effects, like using red helmet feathers or cherrys etc.

Another excellent microscale build Kai! The overall use of colour in this is very appealing, and i like your technique for the crops. (pity it stresses the parts tho - i've been caught out like that before too) The path up the cliff and the castle walls with it's moat looks cool as well, as do the tiny houses in the village. I'm not so sure about the flat grey square that the town sits on... it feels like it needs something, either some colour variation or perhaps a wall as a boundry or something? (You might want a sea wall anyway, as that appears to be very low lying land - it wouldn't take much of a tidal surge to cause problems!) UoP +1 for studs-up rocks, cliffs/mountains and crop farming. I personally don't feel that microscale trees ought to be counted, (unless they really are amazing in some way) as they don't take much effort to achieve. ps. I get that there is a compass rose in the bottom left corner (nice touch btw!), but what is the deal with the pile of coins next to it?

Aaaand i'm sick again. Man, this winter is the worst. Nice work Kai and Nightstalker - if i take my time getting around to your posts, it's cause my headache won't let me stay at the computer too long. Bear with me peeps! That, or you aren't polite enough not to taunt ppl in their infirm state, clearly. -
Great little build SK, i really like the log cabin, especially the crossed-log corners and the roof. My only suggestion would have been to make the door a different texture or colour to make it stand out more. UoP +1 for Manufacturing. (Trade and Law)
